On my home computer I don't use a VPN, but my work computer does. I ran a tracert and it's getting through the local connections and timing out a third of the way through, so when I called my ISP, they didn't think it had anything to do with my local connection, that one of the servers the connection to the neopets and other sites was going through along the way was the issue. They did reboot my connection for me, but it didn't help. I guess all we can do is wait until it's fixed, but it's annoying. I'm going to try from the library tomorrow to see if I can get access that way. 
***when I ran the tracert, it went from my home ip address to 3 ip addresses in Nova Scotia-first 2 of which belonged to my ISP, then through Roger's main hub in NS, then to 3 of their servers or ip addresses in Toronto, and then after that it got as far as an ip address or server that originated in Chicago and after that it started timing out, so I suspect that's where the problem is. 
updated on Saturday Oct 9: finally came back up this morning on my work computer, I did get access to the site where you can file a ticket from the library yesterday and everything worked there, so it seemed to be my home connection, and Neopets, and the pictures on TDN and Jellyneo are now loading, so fingers crossed it will work on my home personal computer

The more I stare at these Free NFTopets, the more they're starting to grow on me. (As in "this might have given me an idea for a Runway theme", not in the "I'd like to own an NFT" sense. 🙃)
 

I'd be sad too little ixi. This was never the idea of Neopets. It's supposed to be a safe place to play games. Not a "Gimme all your money and we still won't keep your kids safe, HA!"

For anyone who’s confused over what’s going on, a few weeks ago, we found out that Neopets are making NFTs. NFTs (or Non-Fungible Tokens) are digital receipts bought and traded with cryptocurrency such as bitcoin, or in this case, Etherium. The response to this has been overwhelmingly negative, and there have been multiple scandals that have happened since.
There are a number of petpages and articles explaining everything that’s happened, and I figured a central thread to collect all the links would be helpful. I will update this list as I find more links, or feel free to suggest additions.

NFTs are essentially a crypto-currency scam that gives you a "unique" Neopets picture that you "own".  It is currently believed the Neopets Metaverse are allegedly taking images from Dress to Impress and selling them as their NFTs. There are plans to make the game pay-to-win, all having to do with the purchase of NTFs. This threatens the heart of the game at its core. My family has four accounts between us and we've all logged out after emptying our shops and will stay dark until Monday. I'm the most active player, but the kids are home for Canadian Thanksgiving and they were as disgusted as me by this situation and very willing to keep away from the site in protest. I cancelled Premium after the recent Charity Corner cheating mess (guess we know now why they didn't bother to punish the cheaters) but I get Premium as a birthday present, so it doesn't expire for months. It will be hard losing it, but I manged without for years. And who knows if Neopets will still be around when it expires? Not looking good..

i mean it's not so much a timeline as a collection of links to other people's timelines and evidence, but i appreciate the shoutout
i'm doing the boycott too. ideally the nfts will be scrapped outright, but at the moment i'm more concerned about this "neopets metaverse" which is going to fork the site onto the blockchain. forking properties into parallel projects like this can sometimes work (it's worked out okay for runescape) but it's far more likely that this "neopets metaverse" is intended to replace our site.
and even if they are intended to run parallel, there's still the issue of the behaviour from the nft community. i know people can gripe about neopet's family-friendly image, given how the majority of the site's users are adults, and i've certainly grumbled about it plenty of times myself, but there are still kids on the site, and exposing them to the kinds of things in the nft community (such as the retweeting of NSFW project by the NeopetsMeta twitter) is just not okay! and no one, child or adult, deserves to be exposed to slurs or misgendering.

i was able to load a streaming website yesterday which i couldn't before (with the not secure https on top)
but TDN is still refusing to load , at all

I'm having issues too, since Wednesday night, it won't load any pictures in TDN or Jellyneo, I'm getting the ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT error in Chrome when I try to get access to Neopets (I know it's not quite the same issue but it seems to have to do with Stackpath) when I tried to access the Stackpath website, I get the same error, and it won't load Neopets, and it's not my computer as I tried another computer I have, and the same thing happens on it, Stackpath's website did mention they were doing updates, so they might be blocking some things, I hope they get it fixed soon, I e-mailed my internet provider too and I don't use a router.

Looks like something is going on. I can access the site for the most part, but get this when I click on an item in my inventory. Also, the news page is completely blank.

I'm pleased to realise that the wheel's were still a work in progress. I only spin the Wheel of Mediocrity, so I can't comment on the others, but the sloppiness of the way it had been done frustrated me. The way the wheel didn't slow down any more, just abruptly stopped dead, and OMG when they were all excited about the audio being back, and it was terr.i.ble; just a monotonous bangbangbangbang that didn't sound right or correspond to the visual at all.
I can't tell yet whether this update's an actual improvement with regard to this as I had the page muted for my first spin, and on my second spin just now... well... x'DDD
The wheel vanished! There was just the support pole and the arrow. So I've no idea if a spin even happened, hahahaha, I didn't end up with an item in my inventory but that's not much of an indication, is it. Hopefully before the day is out I'll have a better idea of this current "upgrade" though!
GOT to say though, I'm absolutely thrilled that Plesio's "are you excited? Yeah you probably shouldn't be" comment is back! Little things...

It's like, if they want to have a matching game then just update Ghoul Catchers with new levels... which were promised before the game was discontinued. They already have a matching game. An an island builder that still isn't available on Apple. Instead of faffing around with new mini-games, I wish they would just work on the site and what is already broken!

Having followed the link to the feedback form on the news page (direct link: https://sdwj.99.com/q/aA7v6j), it would appear that they are now considering yet another bleeding match game after only just discontinuing Ghoul Catchers.
I just... don't get it. Match games have a hugely over saturated market and I surely can't be the only person who is sick and tired of them. Even games that seem to be actual puzzle related that I download from interesting ads end up having a match format to them and I delete them. 
If they really wanted to develop a decent mobile game then something like Treasure Finders of old (yes, I'm probably showing my age) which was a shop simulation as I recall that was actually really darn good. Or a re-code and re-make of Habitarium - which would work perfectly in a mobile format! I know they don't own the rights to the original game, but the idea is sound. Re-name, add a load more petpets, add some additional jobs and such like and they could re-make it as a whole new game. 
KeyQuest - again, I know they'd have to code it from scratch as they 'lost' the original code. But can you imagine the interest from their player base who have been calling for them to bring that game back!? They could do it so you have an option to play single player or multi-player and make it a fantastic mobile game. 
Or well, you know, just fixing the site!? Fixing the cruddily converted games we have and actually converting more of them on a monthly basis?!
I might admittedly be biased because I really dislike match games now, but it just seems so... pointless!
The only space for free feedback in the form is the 'Other' response on what would you look forward to most in a Match game. My response:
"Absolutely nothing. There is no merit in creating another match game only months after abandoning Ghoul Catchers. The main site needs all the resources you can throw at it and instead diverting to inane mini-games. The market is additionally already flooded with match games. If you must do a side game, then a simulation game like the old Treasure Finders game or a new version of Habitarium would likely go down reasonably well with your customer base. But another match game is just a waste of time, effort and money."

He's home! Unfortunately both Moth and Ray (my sibling's dog that also lives with us) are treating him like a stranger. Probably because he smells different and is wearing this big blue cone that he keeps trying to get off. That shouldn't last too long. For now it's actually useful because He and Moth have mutual grooming sessions often that can get rough. We were preparing to have to keep them separate but they are doing it for us. He has several medications we have to give him and a special food to eat for the next few weeks to give his intestines a break.
