I'm not sure even a shiny trophy would make me less salty about losing an items worth millions, I admit!

So as an end of lockdown goal, I have set myself the task of going back to my much hated foreign language classes as a teenager and am using Duolingo to try to teach myself German. I admit, it is slow, slow going. Foreign languages really don't come easily to me at all, but I am slowly but surely becoming more confident in the basics of the language and have even got the hang of present day tenses which always completely baffled me at school! I've found Duolingo a really useful tool - I suspect it doesn't have the more complex lessons for when you are more fluent, but as a beginner it sets things out well and allows you to learn in bite sized chunks which is always helpful when you have the attention span of a demented cockroach to contend with! My end goal for the moment is to be able to read the Harry Potter books in German... which is a stretch right now, but you never know, I might get there!

wow, that's a... uh... look, alright it probably could have been good, maybe? i think the artist just added too much stuff in there. it's like the kind of monster i would have designed when i was like, 9 and had no self-control. there's just... so much going on and nothing really meshes very well. plus the colours don't contrast very well but man oh man, seeing those fanarts that @Secre linked... like i would have happily dropped my entire bank on either of them!! edit: so i figured out part of the reason that this one looks so bad, there's like no variation in value between the green and the purple, and only a little between them and the pink i put it next to some other mutant colours, the draik is probably the weakest here and its still better than the vandy

Ooh! Mind if I ask whereabouts? I lived in Saint-Marcel for a year ^^ I liked using livemocha too! If you're still looking to learn Japanese, I loved Smile Nihongo Academy. It's a paid course, but the teacher is really great! That's pretty fantastic! I wish I had a memory that good, even as a teen! I feel like even at 5 pages you could run a one-person spex or something

I didn't know that! You learn something new every day! One of my biggest motivators though is being able to read in the language I am trying to learn - once I'm more confident, I'm going to start with Harry Potter in German as I know that book inside and out already!! My party trick as a teenager was to be able to recite the first three pages from memory. I could get to five pages just about, but nobody ever stood still to listen for that long!!

And I am definitely one of the slow ones! Every new lesson I have a moment of panic when I have no clue what is going on because of random new words that have been introduced. I end up having to practice well past the level 5 to actually master a lesson! I think that makes much more sense in teaching children young - I started in yr 7 so at about 11 years old and never got the hang of it. Whereas my foster father who is Dutch speaks four languages fluently and another three with varying degrees of aptitude, but they start them young over in Holland!! The only problem with having both of us trying to converse in our languages is that I don't speak a whit of French and my husband doesn't speak a whit of German!! Duo recently re-mastered the German board and I very nearly gave up as all my initial levels had been lost and I had to 'relearn' Brot, Wasser, Mutter and Vater ten million times before I could get onto anything even resembling my actual level. Which isn't great, as I said... but has thankfully progressed beyond that point at least!! I think if we can get to the point where my husband can do all the talking in France and I can do all the talking in Germany, we'll be on a winner! If I ever get reasonably decent in German, I might have a look at trying another language... I love the idea of speaking Russian... but the whole learning a new alphabet thing puts me clean off!! Japanese would be really cool to speak... but again, the whole, learning a new alphabet thing would really put me off!!! I like Duo because it's free - you can pay to remove the hearts and the ads, but you don't have to pay anything to get full usage out of it!

Don't know if you know, but the Witch Korbat Wings are glitched. Found that out when I tried to customize my korbat that is now a kacheek. They don't appear at all, which is a shame because they look like they'd be really cool. edit- JellyNeos database has that noted. I should have payed attention.

What... what on earth happened here? I mean put it aside the older mutant species and I guess it's ok... but put it against the more detailed and nuanced mutants... and it's a cartoon mess! Good to know!! I think I spent around 400,000 total over several weeks stocking actively for this years CC - and I've made that bad and then some, so even with my last minute panic buying, it's worked out well. This following year, I'll make an effort to stockade 6 point items far earlier throughout the year - like not selling all my Battledome stuff immediately. I'm also going to try and stockpile a mix of Icy Snowballs and 8 point Healing Potions from the Healing Springs and hope they stay at the same sort of value!!

I've sold three necklaces, two Hegies and three foregrounds right now... just to see if I can sell my final three necklaces!! I am also still buying Icy's and selling them as well. Yep, it finishes on the 28th. I've just run out of things to donate in honesty and I'm unlikely to stockade enough for any more high level prizes now. Not a problem - I was keen to see which items I could buy that would have the largest np sale overall, and it made sense to share!!

oh, same. i ended up just giving my unread books their own dedicated bookshelf. part of the problem is that i buy 90% of my books used, and like going through the discount bins where books are like $1-2. its great because you can usually find some interesting stuff, but not so great because it's really easy to walk out with like 20 books at a time, and my online book list is so woefully out of date that i often end up with double or triple copies of books. The Light Brigade sounds like my absolute jam though, definitely putting that one on the list as well!

I've heard good things about Haruki Murakami so he's been on my radar for a while. I just need to get round to actually reading his work! My problem is I buy way more books than I could ever possibly read so I have close to 2000 unread books on my kindle alone!! I might at some point give The Dark Tower another shot. I had a glance at my old review of it to double check, but yes, my remembered impressions were correct: I really just didn’t get this. I tried so very hard and it still just came across as the fevered rantings of a delirious man who is probably high on something. The whole thing is so abstract that it loses any semblance of narrative, structure or a focus. I was baffled and bored in equal measure by this book and that isn’t something I’d have thought I’d hear myself saying about a Stephen King novel. But this really does just seem to be random thoughts and impressions with some hallucinogenic sparkles thrown in for the fun and giggles, all depicting one mans trip across the desert in over 200 pages. I thought this was a short Stephen King novel, after all King can be very verbose indeed, however the issue is that he says virtually nothing but takes a whole lot of words to not say anything.
