jellysundae Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Hmm... thanks for the response! You're right, I am probably worrying too much. I just need more self-confidence. c: It's hard to not worry too much. Particularly in your situation; looking for your first job's got to be about the first big adult thing a lot of people do in their lives. Talk about a giant step out into the unknown! Have you considered doing some volunteering while you're looking for a job? It's fantastic experience on all kinds of levels, and it would absolutely help you gain self-confidence. Particularly in the interview process, because with interviews for volunteers they actively want YOU so there's zero stress involved. Quote

Maybe that would be helpful. Quote
jellysundae Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 No, I never really thought about volunteering I guess... Maybe that would be helpful. It's a super good way of trying out a job type with zero commitment, and helps you to meet a bunch of different people. Of course it all depends on what the volunteering opportunities available in your area are, it's definitely worth considering though. Quote

jellysundae Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 Ah well...that's another joy of volunteering, if for ANY reason you don't enjoy it, you just stop doing it :D On the other hand, you could end up trying something and you absolutely love it, and have found a career path that you'd never have got to try, or maybe even thought of, without the volunteer experience. As an aside, my sister volunteers for an animal shelter near where she lives, she spends every Saturday knee-deep in bunnies, lol. Quote
MysteryAF Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Well I'm not much of a people person... so maybe something with helping animals would be a good fit for me. I should've started volunteering sooner probably. .-. Quote
jellysundae Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Oh hey now, you'd not thought of it until I suggested it, and clearly no-one else had suggested it before. Don't go looking for reasons to beat yourself up. If you've just finished school I don't suppose you had a whole lot of free time anyway. The thought of fluffy critters is appealing to you, isn't it? :shiftyeyes_anim: Well, let's face it, who wouldn't it appeal to, lol! Though my sister can attest to the fact that the bunnies she looks after produce a whole lot of poop for her to clean up. :laughingsmiley: Quote
Wildbreeze Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 I volunteered for 2.5 years while in high school, with a large variety of animals. I absolutely loved it. Cleaning isn't the most fun thing, and it can get messy, but it's so worth it. It also helped with my communication skills, because the people I worked with were also passionate about animals, and it was fun to answer questions that visitors had. But equally, it was a safe retreat at times where I didn't feel like talking as much. Animals are good listeners. midnight_spell360, MysteryAF and jellysundae 3 Quote
MysteryAF Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Does anyone know of any fun multiplayer steam games? My friend's birthday is coming up and I want to surprise them with a game we can play together. Preferably a game that's not over $20, but it's okay if it is. Quote

When you say multiplayer do you mean like an MMO or a game where you can sit in the same room and play on the PC? If you mean play in the same room Heroes of Might and Magic V. You'll have to take turns but I grew up playing Heroes of Might and Magic. I could dork out over the Necropolis and Inferno faction right now but I'm too lazy to. :) Quote

Anxious Zombie Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Yay for a year long hiatus. Or maybe two years.. I can't even remember when I stopped just hanging out in the forums.. This is what video games really do, kids. They make you forget about your other random things. Quote
Ashbash Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 Hey all! Just wanted to say hi as it's been I think about a year since I last checked in. Seems like neopets has stopped lagging for me finally so maybe I'll stick around a while. :) Mouseykins 1 Quote

Neopets has it's moments, but overall the lagging has stopped. If you haven't already done so I'd suggest changing your password. There have been some recent account breaches and such and since you've been inactive for a while it might be a good idea. :) Quote

It definitely does seem better and I missed some of these games so much! So glad they seem to finally be working again for me! Any important things I missed? Quote
Mouseykins Posted January 23, 2017 Posted January 23, 2017 Just the usual Daily Dare, GMC and such. Nothing really too spectacular. There have been a lot of account breaches over the last little while but it seems to have calmed down a bit or I'm out of touch with the goings on. I'm hardly around these days. My 2 year old often takes over my computer to watch her movies or her Sofia the First show. It frees up our TV, but occupies my computer. Ashbash 1 Quote
