From what I've read about other users' experiences playing Neoquest, it seems that once you have 7 spirit potions, it becomes extremely difficult to get the three remaining ones (as if they weren't hard to get already :P). When I played I couldn't get more than 7 just like you.
7 spirit potions is more than enough to beat the final boss in my opinion. I've seen people beat Insane mode without using a single Spirit Potion. Although if I  were in Insane I'd try to make a little extra effort to get 10 just in case.

Hi! I have been playing Neopets for quite some time now and TDN has always been very helpful on my Neopian adventures, so I thought I'd drop by and say hello on the forums! A little bit about myself. My main hobbies on Neopets are collecting rare items, restocking, and gaming. I am currently focusing on stamps though I do enjoy collecting gourmet foods as well. My username on Neopets is WuShangZi, feel free to add me (I DO have lots of real-world obligations so I won't always be on though)!

To move the crystal, you will have to change some values in the coding. I'm bad at explaining things, so I went ahead and changed them myself. Find this part of your coding (starting at #userinfo and ending at #you) and replace with the following:
    #userinfo { height: 250px !important; margin: -295px 0 0 20px; text-align: left; width: 400px; } #usercollections { height: 666px !important; margin: 235px 0 0 -482px; width: 144px; } #usercollections .contentModuleHeaderAlt { padding: 6px 3px 0; } #usershop { height: 295px !important; margin: -295px 0 0 -20px; width: 193px; } #usercollections td { display: block; float: left; width: 138px; } #userneopets { margin: -896px 8px 0; height: 220px !important; } #userneopets td, #userneopets b { color: #b4a4e8 !important; font-size: 8pt !important; } #userneopets a { height: 130px; overflow: hidden; display: block; margin: 0 0 -10px; } #userneopets img { margin-top: -10px; } #usertrophies { width: 815px; height: 666px !important; overflow: auto; margin: -680px -1px 0 173px; } #you { float: left; margin: 363px 0 0 435px; text-align: left; width: 327px; height: 295px; overflow: auto; } (After you do this, I'd suggest centring the crystal image using the < center > tags, it will look neater):
<center><img src="http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b188/omegaluke/purplecrystal1.gif"></center> As for the navigation menu, that would take more time, so I won't do it, but I'll refer to some guides that might be helpful: http://www.neopets.com/~2xstandard#drop-down-navigation, http://www.neopets.com/~Trodia and http://www.neopets.com/~gaxuzen#8-17-12.

This is going to be a hard one for a lot of people so I figured I'd post it an hour early so people could get some practice runs in.
    My biggest tips are:
    1) get an umbrella if you can ASAP.
    2) try to make sure your kiko is facing forward. when he/she is, hold both LEFT AND RIGHT to steer straight forward..
If your kiko gets turned around and is facing backwards, holding UP AND DOWN at the same time will make it steer straight forward.
Always try to position your kiko straight the best you can.
    3) Get those checkpoints!!!

It's good to be back but, the reason I've returned to Neopets is less than spectacular.
Not long ago, I had a very busy and stressful life, not enough hours in the day to get things done but I did my best every single day to do as much as I could. I was drinking energy drinks, grabbing meals on the go, getting up before sunrise most days and finally dragging myself to bed in the wee hours just to get up with only 4 to 6 hours of sleep to do it all again. I had lost my younger brother last year and pretty much did a nose dive into doing anything and everything just to keep my mind off it and keep BUSY. It went that way for months and at christmas time it was even worse. I was going nonstop, driving all over the place every day, taking care of all the demands chrstmas adds to life while, on top of it all, I was helping family and friends get ready for the holiday too.
On christmas eve it all came to a crashing halt. I had a major heart attack, almost died and, according to my cardiologist, I SHOULD be dead. He told me I'd had the kind of heart attack that not many people survive and the only reason I did was because I was just plain lucky. I'm not old, I'm a young woman but, I am from a family that has a genetic flaw, it's a cardiovascular issue. I was born with it, however, I was told as a kid that I was only mildly affected, it shouldn't cause a problem. Because of that, I never thought about it, not until that widow maker forced me to realize I'm not super human.
Needless to say, life is much slower now and I have a lot of free time. So, here I am, back on Neopets after several years. It's good to be back, I love the site, I just wish the circumstances were more pleasant.
I guess I'm putting this out there to say to anyone who's reading this, don't think you can do whatever you want and not have to face consequences, there always are a few and some are pretty bad. Make good choices, don't stress so much, eat right, get plenty of rest, stay active but be smart about it. Take care of yourself because there are people counting on you who need you. Friends, family, everyone around you, no matter what your circumstances are there is someone who needs you to be there. Don't be selfish like I was, don't take chances with your health, just take care of yourself and always remember...you're only human, your body isn't as tough as you want to believe, you have to take care of it because you never know...abuse yourself too much and you might end up where I was, flat on your back in an ambulance wondering what the heck just happened. Don't make that mistake, stay safe, take care of you and by doing so you'll be around for all the good things life has to offer even if right now isn't the best. You never know what tomorrow has to offer you, be there to find out
    Have a Fantastic Day! <3

Thank you all for talking to me about this, I honestly didn't know if anyone would want to know more details. I've had rough periods from the beginning, not just since I've been on birth control. I was diagnosed with PMDD, which I like to describe as PMS on steroids, so I would frequently experience debilitating cramps and occasionally depression. I used to skip months fairly regularly, to the point where I was almost getting a period every other month. Which may sound awesome, but the PMS symptoms never went away unless I actually GOT a period, so it was fairly un-awesome. The worst of the mental stuff happened when I skipped two months, which happened twice in my life and never ended well. I ended up going on a regular birth control pill after I skipped a month and decided I had enough (it was Yaz or something, I forget). I got a lot of side effects from that, so I switched to a low dose pill that unfortunately doesn't exist anymore. When that company got bought out, they SWORE nothing changed, but it started controlling all of my symptoms way worse. I started getting worse cramps in places I'd never had them before whenever I got my period, and after a few years, I asked my doctor about stopping my periods completely. She had me do that by taking my pills continuously without using the placebos, and it worked great until it didn't, which leads me to where I am today. I went off of that pill and started one that's specifically designed for you to only get three periods per year, but I couldn't even go two days on it before I started bleeding again ><
I know my mom always had bad periods, but I don't think she had any of the mental stuff to the extent that I did, and she says her periods were like clockwork. I'm not sure about anyone else in my family.
I haven't tried any other BC methods. And I'm not in Japan yet, but I'm hopefully going this summer. It's not so much insurance I'm worried about, it's the physical move as well as having to learn a new medical vocabulary that makes me a little wary of putting something foreign into my body, at least for now. But if my doctor and I can't get this all resolved with pills, I'm probably going to look into it. The only thing I know I CAN'T do no matter what is go back to the way things were in the beginning.
Also, does anyone have advice on how to cope with a super heavy flow? It's not something I've had to deal with to this extent before. I tried googling it, but everything basically just said talk to your doctor, which I've already done. I'm just getting super overwhelmed by the amount of blood and I want to be able to deal with the mess and discomfort better.

Thanks for all of the information! @smoss1
I searched around and found some neat guides and maps. I see why you will really need it, it will take a really long time without. Probably too long.
I think I would like the multiple characters in II, but the 'sneaking' in I makes it easier to get places if you're at a high enough level. Mayhaps could be irritating if you have to go through everything again. I am used to newer games like this, I know the moving is really slow. So that may put me off.
Anyway, going to try. Starting with I.
    Again, thank you!

smoss1 got a reaction from etrnldarkness in Neoquest I
I played NQI over the course of a couple of months. I took a few breaks in between while playing on the weekends. I would estimate that it took me >40 hours or so to complete both games while following a guide all the way through. It is quite an investment a time that is common with most RPGs.
Both games are relatively similar in the basic mechanics of gameplay, but have different strategies to defeating bosses and obtaining/collecting items. I'll go through some differences of the games:
Before you start: It is a good idea to get a map and a guide. The way the games are designed do not give you a lot of character space to get your bearings. You can complete the game without these things but I won't promise you will complete it in ~40 hours.   At first, I tried to complete NQI without a map (big mistake). I quit after dank cave as it took me an hour to find my way out.
NQI: * mono a mono battling system* - You are alone in this game. You are self-reliant with combat, healing and magic. It's not a bad thing, it just requires different strategies to defeat enemies and bosses.
*ability to sneak around enemies* - Three ways to walk around in this game: Normal - run up into enemies normally, Hunting - run into enemies most of the time which is great for grinding and spam-clicking your way through the game as you move at a sluggish pace.
*no money system, obtain weapons from trading raw materials* - enemies will drop potions to heal and raw materials to make certain equipment that you will need. You combine these by fetching the items required.
*more grinding* - I do recall grinding more in this game. Its for the exp and trying to collect enough potions and raw materials.

NQII: *building a party of four* - thoughout the game, you will find three other members to fight along side you. This can be helpful with certain necessities like healing and assistance in combat. But this also means you can run into up to 4 enemies at a time.
*no sneaking mode* - This kind of sucks. There are only Normal and Hunting modes to walk in.
*money system, buy weapons and items* - certain enemies also drop items like potions or seldom weapons, but most equipment you will purchase from the towns.

Cons of Both games: * Impossible to navigate for newcomers* - You need a map. It is extremely difficult to find your bearings. It is technically "possible" to navigate through the game without a map, but it will take you considerably longer.
*no audio, can be boring to grind* - This is probably expected with old Neopets browser games. But usually I would play music and watch a video in the background  to entertain myself. Everyone should have their own strategy to entertain themselves.
*when you die on the first two difficulties, they put you back at the beginning* - all of your progress: stats and weapons are still there, but you have to make your way back to where you were in the games.
These are just the basic differences and my certain gripes and wishes of the each game. Personally, I prefer NQI a little more. It may have less story and you can't build a party, but I loved being able to control my character more without bumping into enemies every five steps. For all three modes, the sneaking mechanic is so helpful and I don't understand why they took it out of the second game. If it wasn't for this sole reason, NQII would be much less annoying in that regard, especially when you die and keep running into enemies that don't give you exp. That is also the reason why I prefer NQI slightly.
I wish you the best of luck!

    Hey guys! Guess what?

We have a new Bony Grarrl Club for lending!
Due to the extreme deflation of the item, I was able to pool the ALP funds with some of my own and replace our club. We've now been able to finish replacing everything that was stolen last summer, so all items we have listed will be available for lending again. I'm still working on trying to get TNT to look at my ticket, but for now, lending can fully resume as per usual.
Because of the problem we ran into last time, I'm going to take a few extra precautions when lending the item this time (full details will be explained in the email we send when we're ready to set up the lend), but the basic requirements can still be found here. Because of the drastic deflation (the club is now worth about 20% of what we paid last time), requirements to borrow have also been loosened a bit, so if you didn't qualify before, check out what's changed and apply again!

Whether you're a mewbie, an over-feeder, or just haven't tried it yet, let's talk about this game/way of life. lol
I started not long ago, and have currently fed 25 kads so far. My plan is to go pink and then stop. I personally don't think kad feeding is actually FUN, but I have to admit that it does suck you in, one way or another. I can't say I'm kaddicted (since I have no desire to over-feed and am pretty tired of this already), but still I find myself watching the clock and thinking time goes by either too slowly or too fast, I smash my fists into my desk when I get pwned, I literally fist pump when I manage to feed and now I classify food items as kad-food vs non-kad-food - and I'm considering going on a kad-food shopping spree so I can SDB feed more often (most of the times I SW).
So, what about you guys? How many have you fed? And what's your favourite feeding method?

I doubt that. I have scratched enough scratchcards to know that there are at least six types of the Race to Riches scratchcard (6 types being each type always has the same under each scratchable item... [Ex: One of the types has 5,000 in the middle, 2,500 on the bottom left, 10,000 on the top right, and blanks on the other two diagonals. The one I scratched every time this happened was the middle left, so I always got a snowball. I've gotten that 8 times.]

    Edit:
I remember about the website that it looked very amateurish and almost spam-like.
It was on a free webpage if I recall correctly, and the words for the solutions were something like "The pictures shown are not all the possible solutions. Rotating them 90, 180, and 270 will give you all of them."

And then it gave Race to Riches (4 of them), Terror Trove (3 of them), Faerie's Fortune (6 of them), Peak O Plenty (2 of them), and Icetravaganza (underneath it said the same solutions as Race to Riches).

The three I remember are as follows:
R2R - Corners, Middle, and one of the remaining 4.
R2R - One of the corners, and the remaining 5.
TT - Chevron Shaped (<<), facing either North, South, East, or West.

I also recall one of them had a solution of the middle row or column and one row or column beside it, but I don't remember which scratchcard it belonged to.

    Edit2:
There is a way to find out what the tiles are in the Flash Scratchcard, but I think its cheating.
It apparently involves saving the flash file (or the web page) to the desktop. Some cheaters might even go so far as to change the number of scratchable tiles to 9.

    - PPT is informing me that there's a legal way to check, and that's by checking the source code and "searching" for the word "Prize". Apparently, 2 = a losing card no matter what, while 4 = a winning card no matter what.

    Edit3:
By the way, the Rotting Riches picture in the Scratchcard Article has the wrong icons on it.

smoss1 reacted to Scoobert_Doo in Ghoul Catchers... a pain in everyone's side..
Ok. So, here's the deal with Ghoul Catchers:
If you have an iOS device (iPhone or iPad), the Ghoul Catchers app has been removed from the "App Store". As of now, no one knows if Apple removed it, or if Neopets removed it. If you had Ghoul Catchers installed on your iPhone or iPad before, but have since removed it, you WILL NOT find it in the list of apps you have installed, via "App Store". If you still have Ghoul Catchers installed on one of those, you can still play Ghoul Catchers.
For Android devices, you can still find it in Google Play. However, many devices receive the message that Ghoul Catchers is not compatible with their Android device. If you are searching for the app on your Android phone or tablet, via Google Play, on those devices, and cannot find/see the app listed, then it is not compatible with your device. If that happens, you are unable to download and install Ghoul Catchers on your Android phone or tablet. There is something you can try, and I will mention it later. If your Android device is compatible, it will download and install, and you can still play Ghoul Catchers.
If you wish to play Ghoul Catchers via Facebook, at this time, no one is able to login to play. All you get is "Welcome --", when you try logging in. The two "--" is where you Neopets user name would appear, with a successful login. Again, no idea if the problem is with Facebook or Neopets, but I believe it is something Neopets would have to look into, with Facebook. As far as browsers are concerned, you can play with Firefox, Internet Explorer, and possibly, Chrome, if using a Windows PC, and with Safari or Firefox, on a Mac OS X 10.7 or higher, for Macs. I will explain how to play with Chrome, later, too, but with the login issue, it doesn't matter what browser you use, as NO ONE can login to play Ghoul Catchers via Facebook.
So far, the Ghoul Catchers issue has been happening for over a month, now. No word from Neopets. I'm sure several support tickets have been opened, but, it has been quiet. I'm also sure questions have been sent to the Neopian Times Editor, too, but unless it is a question about something that has been asked a million times before (sarcasm intended), I doubt it will get answered/make it into the Neopian Times.
So, for now, how can you play? Well, there a few options. If you have an Android device, see if it is compatible. If so, download, install, and play. If it says your device is incompatible, you can try to "sideload" Ghoul Catchers to your device. "Sideloading" is installing an Android app from "unknown" sources. It is always best to install Android apps from Google Play. You have to enable a setting in "Settings", to do so, on your Android device. Sideloading also involves finding the Android app, or "APK" file on the Internet. Just be careful when doing that. Meaning, download it from a known/trusted website. Use the same precautions as you would downloading a file/program for your computer. So, search for "Ghoul Catchers apk" on your Android device, via a web browser. Once found, download and install it. If it works, great. Just be aware that it could cause problems with your Android device. Meaning, if your device seems slower or locks up, you may want to uninstall it. If you don't notice anything, then use at your own risk. Android app developers can declare that their app was designed to work with only certain hardware or software. If your device doesn't meet that criteria, then that it why it is "incompatible". However, some of these apps were designed several years before. Your new Android device may have hardware or software that meets or exceeds those "old" requirements. If the developer hasn't updated their app, or changed their declarations, the app will still state it is "incompatible", even if your device can handle it. Hence, why you would try to "sideload" Ghoul Catchers. Please note, I don't recommend you try "sideloading", unless you understand the process, and that you don't try to do it for every incompatible app. If you aren't sure what you are doing, you could "brick" your device - make it unusable/a paper weight. I did sideload Ghoul Catchers on an Android device of mine, and it did work and I can play. I was aware of the risks.
If you don't have an Android device, you could try using an Android emulator, on your computer/laptop. There are two I know of - BlueStacks and ANDY. Both have certain hardware requirements your computer/laptop must meet, in order to work/install. I haven't tried BlueStacks, but I have tried ANDY. Older computer laptops/computers may not be able to use either, but newer ones should. You may have to make changes in your computer's BIOS settings, so be aware, if you aren't familiar with accessing your computer's BIOS. Both run a "virtual" session of a standard Android Device, so Ghoul Catchers should be compatible with both. It looks and runs like an Android device, but in a window on your computer. You even connect it to a Google Play account, just like a "regular" Android device.
For now, those are the only ways of playing Ghoul Catchers. What or why is going on, no one knows, as Neopets hasn't been forth coming.
If/when it starts working on Facebook again, you might be able to use Chrome, on a Windows PC, if you install an extension like "IE Tab". "IE Tab" opens separate tabs in Chrome, but it uses the "IE engine" to display the tabbed pages. As Unity still works with Internet Explorer, "IE Tab" allows plugins like Shockwave and Unity to work within Chrome, with the "IE Tabbed" pages. I have it used with Chrome to play the Shockwave games, and it does work, somewhat.
As always, if you have any questions, please ask. In a way, Ghoul Catchers is starting to "feel" like Key Quest, both becoming to be forgotten "apps".
EDIT: Personally, I recommend downloading and installing the Unity Web Player from Unity's website directly: https://unity3d.com/webplayer. However, as I said, no one can currently play Ghoul Catchers via Facebook. But, at least you will have it, if/when it starts working again.
EDIT EDIT: Once you downloaded Unity, via Firefox, did you install it? Firefox doesn't automatically install downloaded programs. Go into "Downloads" and double-click on the Unity file to install it. What version of Internet Explorer are you using?
EDIT EDIT EDIT (March 7, 2017): Firefox just updated to version 52. They dropped support for many NPAPI plugins, including the Unity Web Player. You can use the version 52 ESR (Extended Support Release) for those plugins, but it looks like Firefox has gone the way of Chrome. Bottom line: Now will be unable to play Ghoul Catchers via Facebook, if it does start working again, with Firefox.

Unfortunately after the 644th day the avatar no longer works for that Pteri and you will have to find another darigan pteri that is turning 644 days old to get the avatar if you missed it. Not as many people have a darigan pteri under 644 days old these days.
