*nods* Sure, a lot like me. Keeping some equipment out unless it's needed. Hopefully you can max out your strength and defense before the war plot. Do you use any Fortune Cookies from the NC Mall to help speed up your training? Yeah, with Lens Flare and Warlock's Rage even freezer weapons can be kind of a moot-point, Unless you're up against someone who you need 3 free turns to beat. lol Or testing out an all-offensive weapon that you don't want to be blocked. If you don't have one already, you MIGHT consider a freezer for the battle plot, depending on what type of plot it is. Maybe even just a Scroll of Freezing or two, since they can perma-break after some usage. I'm surprised to see some as low as below 40k on the Super Wiz. But I think that's GOOD! They could certainly help in a pinch. Especially if there's a Boss opponent with MASSIVE HP that all the players have to work together to tackle. That's why I HOPE the next battle plot will see Stealing fixed. Fighting Envy during the Obelisk War, the chance of Stealing his Prismatic Mirror was just TOO FUN! Especially when it worked! It bought me a few extra turns per battle, (even though they were all losses), being able to use that.

Hey @mewthree21 Hrtbrk is right. Earning your prizes from non-Obelisk opponents first is fine. I do it all the time. The Ugga-Dome prizes are so over-awarded that they are mostly worthless, except for the codestones of course. lol I always battle a different opponent before I do my Obelisk skirmish battles. So yep! If you battled your obelisk opponents 32 times and your faction wins you'll be fine! Since you only need 10 wins against your faction's opponents to qualify for a prize, win or lose. If you don't clear 10 wins before the skirmish is over, then the screen you get is like you didn't even join a faction for that round. There've been a few times I've forgotten to battle after joining, so I've seen that screen for myself. lol Good luck and happy battling!

Thank you @luckyhelen, it's always nice to see someone comment on this thread, especially positively.

Hey all, thanks for posting! @mewthree21 Sounds like you've got some sound strategies! I use my freezer with Lens Flare (or Warlock's Rage as well) sometimes for extended damage without getting hurt. Helps with some of the trickier/stronger opponents. @GillyTook The stronger your pet gets, the less likely they are to get "hurt". Keep getting stronger! TDN's 1p opponent profiles also have prizes listed, including some that are exclusive to fighting certain challengers at certain difficulty levels. They can be fun to go after and a good challenge. @Duma I've heard Koi Warrior is popular for Codestones too. That's cool you conducted your own test and found that you can get more from him than Walein. Oh yeah, I eagerly await the return of Defenders of Neopia! Those were fun challenges! Sometimes they took a LOT of thinking to figure out how to beat the opponents, especially since I was always underpowered with a low budget back then! lol I used to really enjoy going after Jelly Chia. I mean sure even on MIGHTY he was easy, but in testing to see what he dropped for his profile, I got a TON of spooky food, and for awhile, the book and Stamps he dropped were good NP for me. (He can drop Jelly Mysteries, Jelly Pop Stamp and Jelly World Stamp). I also enjoyed battling Tekkitu, even in the old BD before there were prizes for winning. Just a fun character to beat up on. lol From DoN, Commander Garoo took a LOT of thinking to figure out how to beat him. I don't have a screenshot of that battle, only the comic-aftermath. BUt, Garoo was tricky because of his Brown Clockwork Grundo doing MASSIVE earth damage. Took me quite a while to formulate a defense and beat him with a tiny budget! Below in the spoiler, is a screenshot from when I beat Tekkitu the Witch Doctor, which was the DoN challenger after Commander Garoo. My pet was weaker when I took on Garoo. lol These days, before battling for the Obelisk Skirmishes, I like to battle the Shadow Usul, for some of it's potential-themed prizes, and just because it's fun to one-round win. Well, usually it's one-round. If G-bomb and Blazing Embers have a low damage from their variable offense then it can sometimes be 2 rounds. lol I don't battle nearly as much as I used to. I did a couple events/tournaments in the old days of the idb.finalhit battlepedia site that used to exist. They were fun, but it sometimes involved 2p battles, and that could be tricky to meet up with someone online with differing timezones and all. I really prefer 1p battling, but for weapon testing, I'll do a 2p battle if I have to. lol Oh and unless there's a specific reason not to, I prefer battling on the Mighty difficulty. lol

Hi @mewthree21 Nice work updating your set! As Duma suggested, when stealing gets fixed in the BD, it will definitely be something you could look into. With your agility I'd recommend looking at a Heavy Robe of Thievery. It's a 100% steal once per battle that steals a random weapon/item. And yes I'd agree that your set is Advanced. Hi @GillyTook! Wow! Your set has weapons that are a real BLAST from the past! They are fun to see! XD But some of those I haven't seen since they came out. If you don't mind me asking, what about battling confuses you? On your set, you've got a LOT of offensive weapons. But not much on the Defense. Looking at your set, I would Keep the Sword of Malum, and for another Constant, you could choose from among Winged Palm Blade, Reflecting Vanities,or Fiendish Key since they do about 11-16 icons of damage. Or, you could stick with the Yooyu Knuckle Duster since it does a constant of 14 icons, a little more reliable in that sense of not doing variable damage. Your bomb, the Thistleberry Pingrenade is fine, and Oasis Tonic is good for your healer for now too. I'd rate your set as a beginner set right now, just because it's all offense and your pet's stats are balanced, not set up for an all-offensive pet. Duma gave some great advice, if you have Blazing Embers, it's basically like having a duplicate Sword of Malum. For defense, it does kind of depend on who you fight, but Downsize! (Not "Downsize Power Plus!") is a good and cheap defender as it blocks 50% of damage Once Per Battle, and only costs a few thousand NP either in the Defence magic shop or in the player market via the Shop Wiz. If you'd like full set help, please post a topic in TDN Forums Battledome forum with your current set, like you did here. Please include a rough budget estimate for how much you'd like to spend on equipment upgrades, and if you want to fight only some specific enemies, those opponents, and we can help tailor some equipment recommendations for you. "Budget" Battling is my specialty. @Duma, not a bad set! Not much on Defense, but with the way Lens Flare and Warlock's Rage work now, there's not as much need for Defense if you've got a strong pet and/or a strong offense. You're getting really close to maxing out your Strength and Defense, so I'd recommend focusing more on that than buying new weapons. Blazing Embers and the DoM weapon could be swapped for some defensive gear, which might benefit you greatly in the next battle plot. You could also use those slots for your variable slots. Same with the slot for the Heavy Robe of Thievery if TNT doesn't fix stealing before the next battle plot. I don't know what your budget might be. But with a strong defense, even mediocre shields like Leaf Shield or Flaming Oven Gloves could be helpful. Of course, those items are on the real cheap end of things for shields. I'd rate your set at Intermediate. THANKS for posting in this new topic! Let's keep it going and keep it fun and helpful! I'll post my set soon. So be prepared to be underwelmed! ;D EDIT: MY Intermediate set! My Faerie Abilities lean more toward the defensive side of things, and I edited the screenshot so my last ability would show up. The bottom two items, Roxton's Trusty Bowie Knife and The Moar Blade are there for testing purposes. Normally, one of those 2 slots would be taken up with a Mysterious Red Potion, that has a weak 5-icon attack, but heals 25% of your max HP when your current HP is below 25% and it can be equipped with other healers. Bag of Healing Dust cost me the most, around 11mil at the time. Then G-Bomb that I traded for to replace my honey potion that I actually earned early on from Illusen's Quests, then Golden Peophin Harp about 2 mil + a PB though I forget which one at the moment, and then Downsize! for the things I BOUGHT. Blazing Embers and Sword of Malum were plot prizes, so they were free. lol I have some cheaper shields and reflectors stashed away depending on what opponents I might want to face, or in a war, have to face. I also have a Heavy Robe of Thievery for whenever they fix Stealing in the BD. I have been trying to save NP for my dream weapon, Skarls Sword. Not the most powerful, by any stretch of the imagination, but it's a very decent dual-duty weapon and I've loved the graphic for it since I first saw it many many years ago. Sadly the older it gets, the higher it's price-tag gets. Last one I saw on the TP was looking for 1,700,000,000np for it. It was from the Neopets TCG code. So there are very few of them around. For SOME people, who can restock like the wind, that's not much, but for me? That's more than I've probably collectively earned in the entirety of my time on Neopets. Games and events are the main ways I pull in NP. That and now Trudy's Surprise, as well. So yeah, I'm frugal, because I kinda have to be. lol But that's fine, this is how I got so good at "budget battling" and this is the approach that I take when helping others with advice for building their sets.

Battlers often have one or more favorite opponent(s) to fight. Whether it's the character itself, the prizes that can be won (for whatever reason), or maybe it simply fits their current or preferred battle-set? So here we invite anyone and everyone to share with us all which 1p opponents you like to battle and why. Do you like to battle against other Neopians in 2-player battles? Tell us about that too! You can either simply say which 1p opponents you like to battle and why, or you can link to their profile from the list of Active Challengers here. https://thedailyneopets.com/battledome/secret-challengers RULES: Respect people's decisions as to whom they fight. In regards to 2-player fighters, do NOT post the usernames or pet names of those you battle in 2p without their permission! It's OK to say if you are open to 2p challenges from other players or not.

RULES: NO Derisive/insulting comments! If you want to trade an item, please post about it at this thread! Please back up your ratings with more than just 3/10! Just leaving a basic numerical rating doesn't actually help anyone improve their set. So give some REAL feedback too! ALL set-levels are welcome! Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Elite, Legendary!

Going with The Order this round. Not my favorite boons, but they were the faction I backed in the Obelisk Plot. So it's cool to join up with them again. lol Hopefully they win!
-
You're welcome! The yellow overlay over that shade of brown does make it look rather mottled, so that might be why you saw it as green, albeit probably a different shade. I haven't decided whom I'm going to select. But I'll probably go with the consensus and join the Order. I always check with my guildmates first. Very few of us are active, but I like them to know the info and hear their thoughts too.
-
HI @Granny63020, judging from where the colors are. I think it's Green for the Order because it is highest predicted to win, Yellow for the Thieves because it's their choice to rank 2nd, and the Seekers are in red, probably because they have the lowest chance to win. Kinda like a traffic light with that color scheme.
-
You're very welcome @Granny63020! I'm glad that I could help figure it out!

Happy belated birthday! LOL I usually have rotten luck on Neopets on my birthday. Either few to no random events, or bad random events, and virtually no good luck at the dailies. So you're not alone. As to poisonous jelly. If you get a really expensive-to-cure illness, eating something that is poisonous to your pet will give you a specific but different illness, sometimes that one is cheaper to cure. Depending on which one it is. This was popular during war plots where opponents used poison snowballs or poison-tipped daggers. Because the cures for those items' diseases got so badly inflated. Of course, the cures for poisoned foods, like the jelly, or the Poisonous Lollipop (from Jhudora's quests) also soon inflated as well.
-
Hi @Granny63020, I haven't, but I just checked the Super Wiz, and tried to duplicate that. I succeeded. You need to uncheck the box that says Search Prices Only.

Even if the BIG guild(s) battle, it doesn't necessarily mean their chosen faction will win. This is a good reminder for all of us on that. I was TEMPTED to fight for the Awakened, but the polls here and Oxbridge's predictions looked too good to buck the stat. I fought a bit more than I usually did as well. It's Disappointing that the faction we went with lost, but as I said in the guild I'm in. There's always next time. We shouldn't be too down about it, especially since Thieves and the Order don't have all that great boons, imho. Like, mid-tier boons as far as usefulness or popularity seem to go, again imho though. I like Seeker and Sway boons the most, mainly bank bribery, gotta love a free boost to interest. But there are some useful ones in all the factions. Although, the least useful are probably the boons in the Brute Squad's selection. Even though I enjoy battling, just... I think TNT was scraping the bottom of the barrel with those boons. They could've added one that reduces training time (thought that might impact sales of the training cookies) or increases the chance of bonus stat point gains when training is over for a pet. But, nope. lol Something like that would make the Brutes VERY popular with a battle plot promised.

What are your favorite photography related apps?
Aquamentis12 replied to luckyhelen's topic in The Art Gallery
I don't do much photo-manipulation, but many art programs can also be used to clean or manipulate photos. I'm sure there are plenty of art programs as well you can use for iOS/Android. I typically do photo sharpening before printing photos out, since it's not a top-quality photo-printer. Just an HP Envy. That being said, I use a really ancient art program for some basic photo sharpening and clean-up. Paint Shop Pro 6. From before it was bought by Corel. I think they're up to Paint Shop Pro x7 or so all these years later now. lol The programs look more... photography based than typical digital art. I don't care for the Corel brand, or the trial period of their changes to the software since they bought it from Jasc. So I don't use the updated stuff. I'm just saying, that you don't necessarily need a specific photo app/program to make a photo shine. -
Just starting Season 1, episode 5 of the anime, Bleach. Thought I'd do a major binge in my free-time.
-
Yeah, I really get frustrated when I get several "useless" quests in a row like that. Air Faerie and Kaia in my case. lol Good luck when you use your FQC!
-
Do you mean the Refreshed Quest Request boon? Well, if the Order wins, you're in luck, because they DO have that boon. I usually go with Cartogriphocation for the Faerie Caverns. But that's a really good idea to go for Refreshed Quest Request since you were gifted a FQ cookie. I would guess that the Awakened, would be the faction that would be 2nd most likely to be popular with this selection. Since they can have any of the boons show up. So I'd recommend fighting them a bit extra to hedge our chances of winning with The Order. Happy battling once battling begins.
-
Phew! Glad I didn't miss sign-ups this week! Going with the odds-on-favorite, the Order.

I haven't done much with Neo this year to call an "accomplishment". Hopefully in 2023, especially that rumored battle-plot, I hope to do even better than I was able to in the Obelisk War! My stats have come a long way since then, since barely being able to start red-stone training, my stats have risen a lot for the casual training I put my peophin through. All his stats, not counting Movement, are getting nicely above 3000. I still wish it were easier for Defense to keep pace with Strength and Health, but oh well. lol I know training anything other than HP is kinda moot, but I don't mind. I mostly go with Faerie Quests for training these days. Might as well get stats out of those fortune cookies, even if they don't always help in actuality. Except for movement, I rarely do Air Faerie quests if I get them, and I never do Kaia quests either. As long as the rest are reasonable in price, I'll do them, especially compared to the cost of red codestone training. It's kind of funny. My stats sure have changed, but my battle set hardly has since the Obelisk War. Still the same freezer, healer, Downsize!, and bomb. The major change was switching out Stone Foam Finger and Altador Cup Throwing Star with Burning Embers and Sword of Malum to the line-up as my constant and strongest multi-use weapons. With 2 spots I can change up depending on what adversary TNT throws at us in that rumored battle plot that has inflated almost ALL decent battle equipment. So I really don't foresee changing my set anytime soon. Even if I could afford the 500% and higher mark-ups, I wouldn't buy now, on principle, as well as the fact that I make NP waaaaaaaay tooooooo sloooooooooow to replace it after such crazy price inflation if I was more than just tempted. LOL I HOPE they fix "Stealing" for the new battle plot. I loved stealing the Prismatic Mirror from Envy during the Obelisk War, I didn't always GET it when I stole from him, but that was SUPER fun, since we players will likely never get hold of one for our own use. I'm thinking the plot will be a way to test fixes to the BD, which, will PROBABLY include an end to the faerie abilities of the 1p opponents not working as well as they are meant to. So, that's gonna stink, if I'm right about that. But, oh well. TNT likes to stack the deck after all. Anyway, my Kaibajouryuuki's current stats. Species: Peophin Colour: Christmas Gender: Male Age: 6,971 days Level: 1,771 Health: 3414 / 3414 Mood: extremely happy Hunger: not hungry Strength: ULTIMATE (3351) Defence: ULTIMATE (3239) Move: ULTIMATE (1440) Intelligence: ULTIMATE GENIUS (3029) I also don't think I've missed a single day of Trudy's Surprise this year, so far.
-
Wow! I've MISSED Test Your Strength! Not that I usually do well on it. lol But it was a fun way to blow a few NP on a chance. Looks like they got a LOT done this update, that's great!
-
A cousin of mine met her husband through an online dating thing. I, haven't really had much of any kind of luck or good experience when I've looked into those sites. lol Maybe because I think the prices are over-inflated, especially the ones where only the guys gotta pay to converse. I can see paying for dinner and a movie, the gentlemanly thing to do, but for messaging or just even sending a "hi" without an actual message? Seriously?! No thanks! They work for some people. Some looking for love, some not looking for serious, and there's those of us it doesn't CLICK with. lol Whatever works I suppose, as long as it's on the up and up, as they say. I tend to be a bit overly verbose when I type anyway, so, yeah. Message limitations are for the birds. Guess I'll just stick to IRL and hope to luck. lol Would be nice to meet someone who'd inspire me to write poetry again. I kinda miss composing. lol XD

You're welcome @mewthree21, I'm glad you found a reasonably priced upgrade to the Flaming Oven Gloves! As for which you should equip. I would say leave that to your playstyle and which opponent you fight. For example, against the Giant Space Fungus, you check his profile, https://thedailyneopets.com/battledome/challenger-giant-space-fungus and click on his equipment to see what each piece does. In battling him. Your Hanso Charisma Charm and Hubrid Nox shield, would stop almost all of his damage, though you could change it up and use your Craftsmans Lens to reflect half of his light and earth back at him while blocking any/all dark with the Hanso Charisma Charm which also does 10 icons of damage as a dual-duty weapon. In which case you wouldn't need either sword, "technically" speaking. The current list of all challengers is on this page, but the ones currently in the BD are the Active Challengers. https://thedailyneopets.com/battledome/secret-challengers I don't know why we don't have a page specifically for the actives and one for retired/past plot opponents, but I don't make the pages, and those staff have a lot to handle already. Anyway, if you wanted to go against, something with Fire weapons, say, Edna the Witch. https://thedailyneopets.com/battledome/challenger-edna-the-witch That would be a time to switch in your new Golden Garfir Helm for the fire/light combo defense. I recommend keeping some of your slots fluid, so that you can fight with say, 6 main pieces of equipment, and have 2 slots that you are alright with switching out if needed based on what a new opponent has in their arsenal. Whenever the next battle-plot happens, TDN staffers will be fighting to figure out what weapons and abilities each new opponent has and then get that info into the challengers database as soon as possible. Hope this answers your question.
-
@mewthree21, lol Considering what you must've spent on that battle equipment, I can understand you being nervous. lol But don't worry, that set is quite good and is more powerful than any of my weapons or shields that I regularly use. I've thought about getting a Sword of Reif, but I've been in "saving-mode" for so long, that I just can't part with that much NP right now. lol My DREAM weapon would be Skarls Sword, but I'll need another decade or more to afford it of what few exist out there. Skarls Sword is actually not terribly powerful, but it would be a useful dual-duty weapon and I really love it's graphic. lol Anyway, you've got a pretty top-notch set. The only thing that would make it stronger would be the Pea-family of weapons. Which everything is inflated now because of the rumor of an upcoming battle plot in the new year. For Defense, consider getting a Downsize!, as I suggested to Granny, and switch it in if you find yourself taking too much damage from an opponent that your shields won't block icons from. It will reduce damage taken by 50% once per battle. A lifesaver at times, and it's cheap. lol If you are worried about switching an item out, you could temporarily equip it to one of your other pets, until you need it again. Looking at your shields, you don't have anything to block fire-icons. Hanso's Charimsa Charm takes care of Dark while attacking with 10 icons, and Hubrid Nox's Shield takes a chunk out of earth, wind, water, physical, and also 100% of light. But your Craftsmans Lens is a bit redundant in that it reflects 50% of Earth and 50% of Light. Granted, this can be a good way of defending and attacking at the same time. But you should consider something with Fire Defense. A simple and CHEAP shield, Flaming Oven Gloves, block 5 Fire and 2 Light icons. And they are VERY cheap. Having one of those in your inventory to switch out with either Sword or your Craftsman Lens would be a good idea if you fight an opponent that has fire in their arsenal. There are other fire blockers and reflectors, but they are a bit more pricey and rare. Fire always has been a tricky icon to block for some reason. I can't restock either, so I understand the limitations that brings by way of funds. I play Trudy's Surprise daily, and for stats, I also visit Coltzan's Shrine. USUALLY the stat I get help with is intellect, but rarely I'll get a Strength or Defense boost of a several points. Also, for training, you might consider Kitchen Quests on Mystery Island. Doing these quests can SOMETIMES yield a 1 point gain in a random stat. Any except for intelligence. That includes Agility. But, since the item and NP prizes you can also get are rather low-value. I'd recommend limiting yourself to 5,000np per quest. That's what I do. If you get a stat point, great, if you get np, you'll be out around 4k np, if you get an item, it might be worth that much, it might not be. But you can go with whatever amount you feel is worth the gamble. You can do 10 on-site quests per day. That means that Kitchen Quests, Edna's Quests, Snow Faerie Quests, etc. all count toward those 10 completed quests per day. The count resets at midnight NST. I think that covers everything, let me know if I missed something or if you have any other questions.
-
@Granny63020, I mostly use the Faerie Quest Cookies as well. Training with codestones just takes forever at 1 point per training session, unless you get the uncommon bonus(es). Giant Space Fungus used to be pretty popular, and probably still is. I tend to go after Shadow Usul before doing Faction skirmish battles. I used to go after Jelly Chia for it's rarer drops, but they became less rare and thus, worth less NP. Like I said in my post, you really don't have to do much with your stats as far as if you train them specifically with codestones. Since the max benefit, a 16x boost multiplier is achieved at 750 for both Strength and Defense. If you're going to do codestone training, I would focus on your level, maybe your HP. Since HP can be trained to 3x your Level, some people don't bother with defense and just go for HP and Strength. You already have your Strength and Defense maxed, so getting a higher level and more HP would be a potentially good idea for your training. If you need any help on battle equipment, just post in the Batledome forum and I'm sure you'll get plenty of advice! I'm always happy to help battlers with figuring out their sets, and if you're on a tight budget, budget battling is my specialty. lol IF you ever want to try something for Defense, I would recommend a Downsize! as it's cheap and blocks 50% of all damage once per battle. Avoid getting the Downsize Power Plus! Which is retired and is a one-use only and then it's gone forever. Instead, Thick Smoke Bombs do the same, block 100% of damage once and then are forever gone, but they are much cheaper and can be bought at the "secret" Ninja Training School. You probably know this already, but I thought I'd mention it just in case.
