~Ğǿǿmy~ got a reaction from tk421beth in Haggling.. Gone Wrong.
So I've been haggling with the food shop in Neopia Central, and I've been haggling with the shopkeeper for a carrot that costs 1,856..
So my strategy was to give him half of what he wanted, then if he didn't accept, i would drop down to 1 NP (lol)
so this is how it went:

The Shopkeeper says 'Hmmm, no, im not going any lower than 4,040 Neopoints...'

The Shopkeeper says 'I wont take less than 9,107 Neopoints for it.'

The Shopkeeper says 'Hmmm, no, im not going any lower than 13,619 Neopoints...'

The Shopkeeper says 'Surely you would pay at least 21,545 Neopoints for this item?'

The Shopkeeper says 'I paid much more than 1 for this item... give me 32,000 and it's yours.'

The Shopkeeper says 'Tum de dum... Im not going to accept less than 47,999!'

The Shopkeeper says 'May your hair fall out and your tongue grow warts. Im not going lower than 73,005.'

The Shopkeeper says 'May your hair fall out and your tongue grow warts. Im not going lower than 108,013.'

The Shopkeeper says 'You are a very offensive person. I demand 162,478 Neopoints!!!!!'

The Shopkeeper says 'May your crops be devoured by locusts and your teeth rot. No less than 244,126!'

The Shopkeeper says 'What... 101,000... I have to make a living you know. What about 436,036?'

The Shopkeeper says 'May your ears turn purple and fall off! Pay me at least 739,055!'

The Shopkeeper says 'I did not become a shopkeeper to be insulted!! My final offer is 941,062!!'

The Shopkeeper says 'May your crops be devoured by locusts and your teeth rot. No less than 1,042,996!'

"RIGHT NOW I'M REALLY ANNOYED. BEGONE. DON'T COME BACK!"

ALL THIS FOR A CARROT. from 1,856 to 1,042,996............. Yeah Carrots!

Thanks for your response! So I consulted my doctor by going to the ER and the had blood tests and they monitored me and in the end they said that it was Heart Papitulation and that it was caused by anxiety. Which I thought was weird at first until just now. I had an anxiety attack. It was very scary but I spoke to my sister at college and she helped me calm down.

I'm the same as you. One of the reasons I like university better than high school is that I don't have to do public speaking anymore.

I don't have such a big reaction such as yours, but as soon as I walk out of my front door, I get anxious. I hate seeing people walk on the same side-walk because I feel like I have to do something (should I look away? Smile? say hi?)

Although this sounds counter-intuitive, really the cure is to get used to it. The more public speeches you do, the less you're scared about it. The first few times are always the hardest :( Good luck! -hugs-

P.S About your heart? I've been to the doctors so many times because I thought I was going to have a heart attack. Doctors can't do much really about these kinds of problems. Usually they end up sending you to the counsellor/psychologist/give you meds. But please, don't go to any of those! I know for sure now that none of those work and are only wasting your time. They won't help! As for a positive outlook, think of at least you got 4 hours of sleep! It's not that you only had 4 hours of sleep, it's you had an omigosh 4 hours of sleep! And talk to your sister. Talking cures all :3

That sucks! I also have an anxiety disorder, the severity of it comes in waves. Sometimes I don't notice it, or at least I've gotten so used to always feeling that way that it's just normal for me, other times it gets worse and really bothers me.

Lately, I've been so busy with school that I actually feel like my brain is able to switch over to just "stress" mode and I don't have the time/energy to have the anxiety loop I would probably otherwise be having. Like somehow legitimate stress and anxiety is easier for me to process. Although I've been sort of where you are, maybe not quite as extreme (you're not going to get anthraxed!!), it's harder to relate to since I've been in a good period recently, so I'm not currently in that intense of a place in my head.

I do remember those nights though. I had a close group of friends bail out on me, they found some place to live/hang out that was far from me and I lost touch with them suddenly and didn't really have anyone else. That was probably similar to what you've been going through, and also happened to be some of my worst nights of anxiety, where I didn't even know what to do with myself and couldn't pull out of it. I never ended up in the ER, but I can recall checking my pulse and feeling like I couldn't breathe sitting up at 4am.
I wish I could say something to help, but for me, it never would have worked that way. Nobody could have said or done anything to make it any better or easier. Mine has gotten better just with different circumstances in my life, so hopefully yours will too. Distractions are good.

Just because you did not have success with counselors or meds does not mean that you should apply that logic to other people. Giving that kind of advice can be harmful. Everyone copes with their issues in different ways, especially with regards to anxiety.

I would only suggest therapy if you think it would help or would be willing to give it a shot. There's no point in pressuring you either way, Goomy. I just hope you get to feeling better soon.

I'm personally a fan of breathing exercises to calm heart rate and relax the body. Breathing exercises can be really difficult to learn and trying to implement them for the first time during a panic attack probably won't be effective. You have to train yourself up to it, teach your body how to breath correctly and associate the deep breathing with a more relaxed state, e.g. slowing heart rate and focusing the mind. Once the association is there, it will likely be easier to use the exercise to calm yourself down from the more intense moments. I highly recommend finding a professional to teach you how to properly do the breathing exercises and set up a regimen for training yourself in them if that's a path you're interested in exploring. Yoga is a very similar meditation practice, if you want to get in some physical exercise, too. Physical exercise tends to help mild forms of depression and anxiety by releasing the good hormones in your brain.

On a similar note, progressive muscle relaxation is another technique I've had mild success with. Again, I highly recommend finding someone proficient in the technique to train you.

I second Ruto, counselling and therapy are incredibly helpful for so many people, so to completely advise someone against that is harmful. I say this as someone who has worked with clients with mental health problems, and as the daughter of a social worker and a psychology grad myself.
The thing about anxiety is to realise it is just that. Anxiety is feelings or thoughts, but that's all, it can help to recognise this and to try to accept it. It is normal to have anxiety, but of course you don't really want to spend your whole night worrying and not get any sleep!
I personally would advise talking to someone about it, especially your sister and maybe your parents or friends, or even us people on tdn? I also recommend listening to relaxing music to get you to sleep, there are lots of apps for that, or there's the radio, and the things people have said above are really good too. Good luck goomy/marshmallowspuff! :)

I have severe panic attacks. One time I had one and was crying so hard that I got sent home. I was crying so hard to the point where part of my face and nose were going numb. My mom was called and I went home and took a Xanax.

I've gotten a lot better though, but occasionally a thought crosses my mind and I lose the ability to be rational. My mind seems to be divided into halves. There's the rational half and the half that's irrational and fearful.

If you ever need to talk about panic attacks please message me. I know exactly what it's like.

I just want to say that self-diagnosis isn't really advisable, because nothing beats an actual doctor physically checking you out.

On the other hand, I'm curious. Is the feeling persistent, like do you have a high heart rate all the time? Is it actually a beating at a higher rate than normal or did you just feel like it was beating faster than normal? Were you feeling any anxiety or nervousness or general uneasiness when you felt your heart speed up?

I just reread your post and well, generally, if you put pressure on your chest (like by lying down prostrate), you can feel you heart beating more prominently than usual. Especially since you were trying to sleep, I assume. And that feeling when you woke up, did you perhaps have a stressful dream? I've woken up on several occasions with my heart pounding heavily because I was dreaming of something particularly nasty (the most recent I could recall was that someone was telling me I failed a test I knew I passed ehe).

That, or you're being hexed. Check under your bed or all over your room for any suspicious hex bags you don't recall placing there. (:

In the meantime, maybe try breathing exercises or meditation to see if you can reduce your heart rate so something you're comfortable with. Plus, you'll feel super cool and relaxed, because eyyyyy, I can control my bod.

But in all seriousness, like they say in the commercials: if symptoms persist, consult your doctor.

~Ğǿǿmy~ reacted to Midtime in Mermaids Make Waves as Round Four Concludes
Good morning, sports fans! This is Brooke, reporting from the hallway outside the TDN newsroom. It's been quite the round, and we're excited to bring you the results of the last day of the bracket. I'll launch right in with the Alabriss Bracket!

In our first match of the bracket, Mystery Island's scores took a sudden, mysterious drop (Matt's not the only one who can spin a pun!), allowing Faerieland to gain some ground in the form of a win in Slushie Slinger. It may not seem like a grand victory, but this match marked the end of a rather epic four-day sweep-streak. Perhaps the coming day of rest will help the Natives get their scores back into their normal range.

Snowcapped peaks met scorched sands in our next match. While neither the Chillers or the Mummies have been doing spectacularly this year, it was the Lost Desert's finest who bested Terror Mountain. The games were all close, and the Chillers found Lost Desert's weakness and stole a win in Make Some Noise. This is only Terror Mountain's third win of the bracket; next round may hold more success for them.

In the last match of the Alabriss Bracket, Meridell and Krawk Island went head-to-head. Both teams have been doing really well this bracket, and the results show that they were fairly well matched. The scores were close, and each team took two events. Today both teams will enjoy a well-earned day of respite before launching back into the action for the final stretch.

Now let's head over to Lydia with the Minitheus Bracket.

"Thank you, Brooke. You'd better not be sneaking back into the newsroom. I hear that they haven't found all the falling hazards. Midtime, you be careful too. Knowing Austin, there might be actual explosives stashed somewhere…

"Anyway. The Minitheus bracket finishes off this round with a bang. It was the round we'd been looking forward to this season. Overall, it ended up with the Haunted Woods taking first, Virtupets second and Moltara third, which is also how the three stand in the overall results so far. It's becoming clear that these three teams will likely be battling for the three podium spots, and no matter which team takes the top spot, the win will be unprecedented in the history of the Cup. Both the Haunted Woods and Virtupets have already been champions, and Moltara was struggling to stay out of the bottom tier just last year.

" Now, to the individual results. The Minitheus bracket saw two sweeps and one near sweep. Tyrannia was able to sweep Altador in a series of one-sided matches. Altador had been struggling this entire season to pull off the same feat they did last year, but it simply wasn't feasible this year.

"Kreludor, on the other hand, had been doing well up until this round. However, they, like Altador, were unable to stand up to the three powerhouses in their bracket, and today was no different. The Moons lost on all fronts in their battle against Virtupets yesterday, and can only remain hopeful for the next bracket.

"In the last match of the bracket, the Haunted Woods were able to edge out Moltara in a series of narrow matches in Yooyuball, Shootout Showdown and Make Some Noise, but the Magmas drew on their old strengths and were able to come out on top in Slushie Slinger.

"I'll pass this to Midtime with the results from the Vaeolus Bracket!"

    [The Colosseum.]

" - something, must be something I'm forgetting - Ah! Thank you, Lydia. The Vaeolus Bracket, not usually the centre of the spotlight, happens this time to be home to a most astonishing upset. I'll get to it straightaway.

"If Maraqua were likely to see another sweep this Cup, few people expected it to be today. Kiko Lake have been doing exceptionally well over the course of the Cup, and have lost Yooyuball to only three other teams - and beaten all but three of those in a rematch afterwards. The Mermaids simply could not match their record, and although the Kikos' performance has declined recently, Mermaid fans were for the most part hopeful only for a draw or two. To have won in Yooyuball was beyond expectations; but spectators looked on in amazement as Maraqua went on to sweep their erstwhile rivals across the board, posting scores far beyond the wildest imaginings of analysts. Maraqua supporters are right to be pleased - but is this only a special occurrence, or are the Mermaids set to rise to something approximating their former glory? That is something to find out tomorrow.

"The Minions, meanwhile, continue to dominate their bracket. The Wizards, their opponents today, came admirably close to matching their Yooyuball performance; but the Minions got the field under control towards the end of the match, and secured a solid victory for their team; which was then supported by victories in Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise. However, they never did catch up to Brightvale's early lead in the shootouts, and the Wizards, having bested them in one game at least, saved themselves from a sweep this time.

"The match between Shenkuu and Roo Island saw a similar outcome - Roo Island won out on the field, in the slushie contest, and in fan support; while the Ninjas, who have met with mixed success in this bracket, slipped past them in Shootout Showdown alone. Roo Island fans celebrate the occasion with a vivacity that is by now familiar to all attendees, and no doubt look with excitement to the match to come.

"Now, for the matches to watch - I, er...

[The reporter looks confused for a few moments. Then something occurs to him, and he counts on his fingers.]

"...I recommend you take a rest, as today is a bye day, and there will in fact be no matches to watch. None at all. The opponents will be nonexistent. Apologies for that.

"And with that, thank you very much for watching, viewers! This is Midtime, with all The Daily Neopets news staff, signing off."

~Ğǿǿmy~ got a reaction from nousha in What do you think TNT meant by this?
DANG TNT IS SALTYYY. Literally they are so passive aggressive in this answer with the syntax, like attacking their fans when they can. Oh you guys complained about this and now we gave you this and you still don't like it.

Do i think the AC will be completely removed from Neopets forever?
No. The AC is one of the main things that brings new people to the site via advertisements on tv or the internet.

Do I think TNT will try something new with the cup, not being DRR and the god-awful Bracket system?
Yes, notice how they seem like they are leaning to the former as giving a more in-depth review on what they plan to do, while the latter just says "Oh yeah we might not do it and do something else"

Will the AC be on and off from years?
Possibly, by the way this is written, in the passive-aggressive voice with a negative tone, anything is possible with TNT.
