I actually can't believe I won, my first gold ?? Thank you so much everyone, I really thought there were others far better but it just goes to show we judge ourselves the hardest. Even though I barely know of Rip van Winkle, that entry and Cinderella were my favourites but I honestly loved every single one. I think I just love fairy tales ?

@AppaMomo It's really interesting about Rip van Winkle, I wasn't aware, until looking him up, that it was a US story, so I must have just known the name and the bare bones from him being mentioned in passing on US films and TV shows I should think.
@aleu1986 The Little Match Girl story is so sad. ?
It's rather nice, in Hogfather, how Terry Pratchett gives that story a different ending by having Death save the little match girl and hand her over to the City Watch to be taken care of. Much to the annoyance of the angel that comes down to take her to heaven after she's supposed to have died. THAT being just gets snowballs thrown at them by Death's servant, Albert. ?
I love how moral Terry Pratchett was, particularly as he made Death his most moral character.

The spin on red riding hood in #4 is hilarous, I love it 
Another favorite is #5 - I'm a sucker for classic American lit so I really had no choice but to vote  The colors are so nice and fitting for the season too, though!

As most of you have by now realised, I usually don't reply to your message until I'm setting up the round, but I do, in fact, read them beforehand. Usually. So I can answer messages from people who forgot to include something, or who asked if there were any entries similar to theirs. Apparently I didn't read all the messages this time, as I missed one that included the aforementioned question, and the answer happened to be 'yes'. So to give this person time to change their entry, I'm postponing the start of this round, by a week. My apologies! ?
(At this point, it might be a good idea to mention that one particular fairy tale proved to be very popular, so if there's anybody else who wants to know if there are entries that are similar to theirs, now would be a good time to ask.)

I've just read the Cheese fable, lol. Fables are basically just a way people tried to get their kids to behave, aren't they. This one is aversion therapy at its finest. ?

The Farm That Ran Away and Came Back. The Goblins Turned to Stone. The Ice King and His Wonderful Grandchild. The Kabouters and the Bells. Also I believe La Fontaine qualifies ... I love his fables 

I honestly hadn't even thought about Neopets' faeries. Oops. ?
So yeah, I meant fairy tales.
There are still several faerie themes on the list of themes that I have, so I think I'd like this one to be just fairy tales, not faerie ones, to keep it more contained to one theme.
When I think about fairy tales, I think about the Brothres Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen. Looking them up, I noticed the Brothers Grimm were described as being "among the first and best-known collectors of German and European folk tales". So I guess they'd be considered folk tales as well. (I think Holland doesn't have any fairy tales of its own either, at least, none that I can think of. Or folk tales, for that matter. ? I grew up with the fairy/folk tales I mentioned above.)
So, to summarise: base your entry on fairy or folk tales, but not on faerie tales.

I don't know if anyone here has been following these videos, but since I couldn't find any threads about it, I figured why not make one.
So there's this guy called tamago2474 that started a series called "The Neopets Experience" on his Youtube channel. Basically it's about him playing Neopets for the first time in years and giving his thoughts on it. They're all pretty high-quality videos that give insight into the pros and cons of this half-dead website we all like to play, with a lot of humour mixed in
The guy's goal is to play every single game available on Neopets, taking breaks every now and then to explore other aspects of Neopets (customisation, the Battledome, etc).
