Eleventh_Muse
Hi there! My name is Muse or Beck whichever you prefer. I promise what I said in the topic title is just a joke. I DID decide to join TDN forums because of the TDN avatar lending program so I could get to know people. :) I'm 24 an adult Neopian and have been playing on and off since 2005, though I only really got deeply into it over this summer when I discovered account improvement and when I discovered that you could make a tons of NP and never have to play the flashgames which I don't like. I played KQ in my stints before but I never realized how much you could make with it *mourn* until this summer and then I found Account improvement and joined an amazzzzing guild called MAIN which I adore. My biggest Neo goals include 21 painted and customized pets, ultimate riches bank account that yields 100k a day in interest, get to the collector avvie, get some stamp avvies, train my draik until he can't be trained anymore and tops out, and in general make lots of friends and have fun. I just got into NC trading and now I have a horrible addiction I don't even WANT to cure. IRL I've got a degree in english teaching but I can't get a teaching job since our state is in bad places with jobs.. and my experiences subbing have told me I don't think teaching is for me. So I'm going back to uni this summer to do an accelerated program to get my bachelor of science of nursing (RN that's a 4 year degree instead of an associates before you take the NCLEX) but my accelerated program is letting me do it in 2 years. I'm going to specialize in Neonatology (babies!) How I'm going to make time for Neopets doing that I don't know but I'll find a way because I've become super addicted. I love animals and I have wanted to get into showing dogs for forever. I finally convinced my parents last summer to let me buy my first showing dog. She's a currently 10 month old Welsh Springer Spaniel named Riff. We compete in conformation (think Westminster and the dog shows you see on TV where all the dogs are walking around a ring and some are on a table) and agility (the one that looks like obstacle courses). My other hobbies include reading and writing (I want to be a published author. ) baking, photoshop, RP, watching things on Hulu and Netflix and you know just hanging around my family and friends. So that's me. HI! acmerasta and Songbirdsara
leverhelven
I've just googled your dog's breed and they're BEAUTIFUL! Looking forward to seeing pictures of him! Welcome to the forums and good luck with your dog competitions! :)

So that's me. HI! Hi, wow, looks like we have a LOT in common. I have my BSN, so if you have questions, feel free to ask. I went the way of Associates first, took my NCLEX, got a job, then went on for my BSN later on. I have my BA in psych (most people here know my waste of time and money story about that-lol) however going the route you are going, the second bachelor track, was not an option for me at the time because it was still too expensive compared to just getting the ASN. Plus, I never planned on getting my BSN until lo-and-behold, I became a school nurse. As a school nurse in Massachusetts, not only do we have to have our BSN, we also have to be teacher certified. Yep, I can also teach. They wouldn't WANT me to teach. lol. Like you said about yourself, I don't enjoy it, and I am not very good at it. They don't require our teachers to be CPR cert. but they require our nurses to be teacher certified. Go figure. I fought to have the teachers CPR certified, but it wasn't until a 12 yo boy drowned in the swimming pool at 2:30pm on Friday, the end of the day before the February Vacation, they finally required the gym teachers to be CPR certified. Soooo sad. Most of the teachers at my school are CPR certified, because I promote it so much. We offered it for free to all of them and charged the $5 for the cost of the card. Like I said, if you have any questions or need any help, feel free to PM me any time. Good luck to you.

Eleventh_Muse
Leverhelven - Aww Thanks! I tried to use a picture of us as my avatar but it was too large in kb and I was too lazy to size it down in photoshop. What are the rules here for linking out? Am I allowed to link you to a photo on an imaging site to show you a picture of Riff or is that banned like a neopets? Jelly - XD Well if it all works out the way I plan don’t forget that little part. MTracy - it’s scary how much we have in common. I may have lots of questions once I start classes in the summer. Yikes. I know it’s going to be hard but very worth it. I really stopped liking teaching over time. It’s too much work to be a truly good teacher. Your work follows you home and lasts for hours. Oy vey. And then I stumbled my way into nursing because my original goal had been to be a pediatrician but I couldn’t survive the amount of chemistry I had to take. At the time it never occurred to me I could be an RN and only work in the Nursery or specialize and get my license to work in the NICU. When I thought about nursing I thought about med-surge and emergency room and just thought bleh. But a few months ago I started to realize I could work as a nursery nurse if I wanted and, in fact, I did that as a CNA for four summers in high school and loved it. So why not do it for a career! Trust me. I’ll have questions. It’s really silly that they don’t require teachers to be CPR certified but the nurse has to be certified to teach. Yikes. Here in IL all teachers have to be certified. Thankfully. Here’s another small world. My dog Riff’s breeder is from Mass. :) And she’s one of my best friends. Chel - O.O Freaky. :D
chelperk
That's cool, though! I'm from a small town near St. Louis, Missouri so I usually say that's where I'm from because nobody's ever heard of "Dupo." I hope you like it here! TDNF is pretty great. :rambo:

Shane for Wax
Welcome aboard. We have a former show dog, a greyhound. He's super lazy now and really clumsy and skittish for some reason. We're not 100% why but we suspect abuse especially where his ears are concerned??? I can barely touch them and he'll cry. I will say that neonatal care is one of the things that made my mother leave nursing. Tho she was OB/GYN nursing, she still dealt with babies and stuff and couldn't handle it for various reasons. Though good luck with your endeavors. I'm currently waiting for someone to figure out how I suddenly can't walk after walking just fine for 24 years and had no serious trauma to my lower spine that would cause an inability to walk but I can stand with some effort. Once they figure it out, get it fixed, hopefully i will be on track to finish my criminal justice degree.
jellysundae
Aw man, that sucks, Shane : / Are you holding off studying until you've got some mobility back? I guess this means you are I are both in the lumbar puncture fan club ><
Shane for Wax
My intention wasn't to derail but the problem is more that I kept getting sick. The walking thing happened later and I've always had mobility issues where L4/L5 is concerned. And, I can't have a lumbar puncture, my spinal cord is too wonky to risk it unless life or death instead of life and possible total paralysis. In the mean time, I just have to wait until I can see an actual real expert who has some experience with people like me. I'll probably end up making another thread about my life since apparently it's rather exciting yet boring at the same time cause i haven't done anything of note except being noteworthy, as it were, thanks to my problems. I also know that we have a nurse shortage in the United States, so I'm always glad to see people are going in that direction.
jellysundae
Oh wow, well the best of luck with a specialist heading your way as soon as possible then! Yeah make a thread :) I guess there's always a shortage of nurses because it takes a special kind of person to want to be a nurse, I know it's certainly something that I was never cut out for
Songbirdsara
Haha Beck, I totally joined for the same reason. Discovered TDN, started using the Dailies page because it's so nice to have the links all in one place, then discovered avatar hunting, which led me to ALP which convinced me to join the forums! Hopefully you'll have as much fun here as I have!
Marae19
Welcome! To be honest, I think I joined the TDN forums for the same reason. I'd joined the normal TDN site earlier because I really liked the dailies page and the game guides, but especially for the part where you can keep track of which avvies you've already got, and then I discovered the ALP, and decided to join the forums as well. It's only recently that I've become active on the forums, and I don't think I'll be leaving anytime soon. :)
Shelley
Welcome to TDN! I'm also an adult neopian, 21 close to 22 :p I have a special love for spaniels of any kind. I had a Brittany Spaniel that I absolutely adored. Although I have learned my lesson now to never adopt from shady "breeders". Good luck with your college endeavors! I'm currently working on an art management degree. :)
Eleventh_Muse
Chel - I know where Dupo is !!!!! But that’s because I have relatives in Florissant so I know most everything near/close to St. Louis. - I’m on the other side of the state. Right by the Indiana line - as in Terre Haute is the nearest closest town which makes timing a pain as we’re on CST and they’re on EST so I usually just go by EST since I’m in TH so much. I went to College there and I’m going back to college there this summer. It’s so confusing to people so I just say EST and be done with it because I feel like I spend half my life across the border anyway! BRI! - HI! You found me hahah! (We’re co-council in a guild together. She recommended me to the avvie lending program which I knew nothing about) Shane - Hiya! Was he shown before you guys got him? Was he ever raced? A lot of times racing greyhounds were abused especially about the ears and head and it makes them head-shy. Poor baby. I assume you’ve also had him checked out by a vet to rule out that there’s not actively anything making his ears hurt too.. I’m curious why your mother couldn’t handle it though if you don’t feel like sharing that’s okay too. And what happened to you is very strange. Did you just wake up one day unable to move/walk? Songbirdsara - I love all the fan sites. First I used the jellyneo dailies page - now I have premium so I use my premium tool bar for it but I still love stalking all the fan sites. Marae - It’s so glad to see that tons of people like it here. Hopefully I’ll fit right in :) Shelley - I hear you! Shady breeders are no good! I’m guessing you had some bad experience there? I would love to hear about it just because I love to talk shop about dogs. And needless to say since Brittanys are better known I’m constantly getting with Riff “Aww what a cute Brittany!!!” LOL “Yes Brittanys are cute but this is a Welshie.” I say. XDD I got really lucky because I met a breeder on Facebook and got to talk to her and know her over a real before Riff was born and now we are really close friends and she is my mentor. Unfortunately she lives in Massachussetts and I live in IL but she still helps as much as she can.
Shane for Wax
1) yeah he was shown a little while. He was only like a couple years old when we got him. But he's not a racer at all. Like, he doesn't know how to race. We tried to take him to a greyhound event and he got run over by the other greyhounds cause he had no idea why they were running. And yeah of course we've had a lot of vet appointments for him. But he's def not a retired racing dog, he's 100% show. He's mostly just a big ol' wimp. 2) the story isn't quite mine to tell but it had to do with how fragile children are as well the fact there are certain sights and sounds mum couldn't handle. 3) No it wasn't sudden, it was gradual. Which is part of why they have no idea why I can't walk anymore. I can stand up with support for a little bit but no actual walking. I've been getting the run around but I'm hoping this year to visit some actual experts in bigger cities like up in Baltimore or Indianapolis. Go to like Johns Hopkins or something. If I was going to be unable to walk, according to doctors, it would have happened much sooner in development.
Eleventh_Muse
1. Oh no LOL poor guy! I suppose it's just not his temperament and that's okay! 3. You should check out Mayo Clinic in Minnesota if you have anyway of getting there. They are -reallly- good.
Shane for Wax
1. Yeah we've just been dealing with it the best we can. It doesn't help he's a klutz. We had multiple vet visits cause of his clumsiness. 3. Haha I was seen at Minneapolis Childrens when i was a baby. We're moving to Dallas in a month or so which hopefully has better hospitals or people with connections to doctors that are in the field I need. But I've taken up too much of your thread with my sad story. :P
