rachiee Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 I'm thinking somewhere like Shoprite or the library or something. Those are really the only places that would even consider hiring 14-year-olds, but even then, it's kind of a long shot. Quote
passiflora Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 And then I'll be jealous of you because I'll be back in school and working 2 or 3 jobs lol. Eek! I work 3 jobs now in the summer, but it means that I don't have to work at all during the school year. Do you have a full course load, too? I'm thinking somewhere like Shoprite or the library or something. Those are really the only places that would even consider hiring 14-year-olds, but even then, it's kind of a long shot. I worked at a convenience store/gas station/ice cream shop once and we had a 14 year old working there. :) There were a few things she wasn't allowed to do because of labour laws, but they still hired her. When you're young, it really helps if you have an "in" of some sort - like knowing the owners or having someone else who knows them put in a good word for you. Quote
Ashbash Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Eek! I work 3 jobs now in the summer, but it means that I don't have to work at all during the school year. Do you have a full course load, too? Yes, I'll be taking 18 credit hours. I'm also super involved in 2 campus organizations lol. I guess I like to be busy! Since I'm now past the 4th year of undergrad mark, I don't get as much financial aid as I used to. :( But I'll be graduating this yar! And one of the jobs I'll be working is only 2 to 3 hours per week, so it sounds worse than it is. I sometimes work 3 jobs in the summer as well but this summer I just have 2. Speaking of internships, anyone know much about the disney college program or disney's professional internship program? I want to work for them so bad! Quote
Spritzie Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 I've never seen anyone working at 14 here. Quite a few years ago, some places would hire you if you were 15. My sister's first job, she was 15. But by the time I hit 15, they wouldn't even talk to you unless you were 16. (Or 18 depending on the place.) I was 16 by the time I got my first job. Quote
Haliaetus Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 I'm most likely losing my current job come September, so I'm going to have to be job hunting again when I'm in school. I can't stand looking for jobs. -_- Quote
Naamah D. Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 I work 3 internships at school. Summer School is only 3 days a week though so I get time to relax. Quote
khaos Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 I hate how this place is never that active anymore. Quote
Haliaetus Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Everyone must be too busy with their real lives. :P Quote
khaos Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Off topic. My R4, which had 51 games on it, is now gone forever. The SD card got lost in the washer or drier or random clothes. T_T Quote
Tedhaun Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Everyone must be too busy with their real lives. :P They're not that busy now with the summer season in play, but wait until September, things will really get busy when things go back to reality. Off topic. My R4, which had 51 games on it, is now gone forever. The SD card got lost in the washer or drier or random clothes. T_T Don't leave important stuff in your pants or shirt pockets before putting them in the laundry. Before you or your mother/father do laundry, make sure you check all the pockets of your clothes for items (I.E.: Dollar bills, a credit card, a Game Boy game, etc.) before inserting them in the washing machine. Haliaetus Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 They're not that busy now with the summer season in play, but wait until September, things will really get busy when things go back to reality. Well that's what I meant, lol. Vacationing, working, enjoying the nice weather, etc. People are still busy in the summer, just in other ways. I know I'm busy. Quote
Ashbash Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Yeah, I'd definitely agree with Haliaetus. I'm busy in the summer sometimes but it's busy with different things. Maybe everyone's just into Big Brother right now like me. :P Quote
jumpingbeans Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 I usually do just about nothing during summer except stay online all day...usually one 'big' week-long trip, that's about it. Quote
Ashbash Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 So I know I'm bringing this back to food and specifically pizza but I finally tried Pizza Hut's garlic bread pizza I talked about earlier in this thread and it is nasty. I'm not liking it at all. Blech. Quote
complicatedwishes Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Awwww whaaaat :O By the way Ashley I've been keeping an eye on top posters per day and you seem to always generally be first or near the top. How do you do it! ;) I have no life, clearly. Just sit looking at top posters list for all of the hours I'm awake. Quote
Ashbash Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Lol I never noticed. I tend to get really bored while babysitting so I guess that is how. The little girl I watch never wants to do anything fun anymore. She's been building cardboard doll houses every day by herself so I've just been sitting on my laptop playing neo and checking out this place. Quote
jumpingbeans Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Really? Those Pizza Hut Garlic Bread Pizzas looked really good... And I used to be at the top of the list daily, pretty much...I think the peak was 100 posts a day... Quote
khaos Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 100 posts a day? I remember a user named Sweetdang who got 70+ posts per day, It was amazing. :O Quote
Spritzie Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 When things were super active, it was easy to get 100 posts a day. Some days, the top poster would have 200 posts. And they were conversational posts, not just quick short ones. Quote
jumpingbeans Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Though mainly, they'd be at least half in HOP...games don't count, right? Yeah, Sweetdang got lots. Quote
Spritzie Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Games don't count. Either does the dailies sub-forum. Off the top of my head, I think that's all that doesn't count. Quote
jumpingbeans Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Oh yeah - I find it funny that I got my FM by posting in a Dailies topic. xD I think that's it, though. Quote
khaos Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Yeah. If game posts counted, I'd've been a FM a loooooooong time ago. :P Quote
Ashbash Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 I just recently became a fantastic member. Although I had no idea I was going to become one until it happened. I didn't realize it had anything to do with post count lol. Quote
Tyler. Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Ughh I am so bad with remembering to come back here. Oh well, enjoy my monthly/bimonthly visits I think I became an FM uhh around 2 years ago i wanna say? Quote
