HAHAHAHA yep Boaty McBoatface is right. I remember seeing that on the news and just dying! Similar things happen here when the public gets to name things... if I remember right a local school held a naming contest for their new mascot a few years back, eventually they had to give up and the staff named him because nothing appropriate was submitted. Considering some of the suggestions that actually make it into the top tier of voting for things, I shudder to think of what must get weeded out before things are even released publicly!

Sadly tonight was meet the teacher night at my kids' school and I'm trying to finish off everything that needs doing before school starts on Weds so I did not have time to craft a NeoTrophy, but we'll see what new adventure awaits tomorrow!

SNAIL UPDATE!!!

Okay well maybe not Snails, but potentially worse?!? I just went over to JellyNeo for a price comparison and saw this on their front page:

Apparently Neopets is running a week of contests on their social media pages this week (I don't follow Neo on FB and I don't have twitter or insta so I didn't know anything about this, perhaps if you do you're already having a laugh about this). But, YEAH. Can I just say, they either have an enormous sense of humor or an incredible level of naivety? Or both, I guess. I just find it HILARIOUS that after the AC trophy snafu this year, the very first contest they run in what is advertised as a week of social media contests is "Create your own trophy". Guess this is why they are running this on social and not on the actual site, I can only imagine some of the suggestions they will receive! 

Once I stop imagining inappropriate things and giggling uncontrollably, I will have to see if I have time to make something for this though, as I would LOVE to get my hands on one of the item codes from ComicCon. What do you guys think? Worth it if I can keep a straight face long enough to do the work?

Assuming that scratchcard odds do not improve as rarity/worth increases, I'd sell if it was me... it took me weeks of scratching and thousands invested just to win snowballs to get the silly scratchcard avvies, so luck would not be on my side. 

Ugh, I'm so sorry for what you're going through. I live in Missouri and have been through many a close call with twisters, although thankfully my immediate family have never been directly impacted, but I've got friends who have. I can't imagine what it's like to come home and find that kind of destruction. Glad it sounds like at least no one was hurt. Are you anywhere near the big Vermeer plant in Pella that got hit? My brother in law works there and my sister in law sent some pictures of the damage, it was insane.

I must say though, from the pic you posted I think your house is lovely (probaly even more so when it's not just been tornadoed, obviously). It reminds me a lot of my grandparent's old house (also in Iowa). I love the older country style homes you see in all the midwestern small towns. Keep your head up and stay strong, tornados are a royal pain but you and your family are stronger than a stupid storm!

I have been meaning to get this one forever but I always forget to go play at the beginning of the month when the score tables reset. I haven't mastered the scores needed for most of the game avvies yet but since this one is "top 50" I actually stood a chance

Haha...  yep lets go with this. A mildly evil plan by one of the good faeries is a much better explanation than that JS gets their wires crossed Every. Single. Time. there is an event.

Not that I mind the Soup Kitchen being active, I actually quite like that people could obtain the avatar without having to launder huge amounts of NP to side accounts and back again, it's more the principle of the thing. Now that we have noticed the pattern though, I can't wait for the next mini event after the Dragoyle hunt so we can test the theory and see if it goes on again!

Gah! How have I been around for years and not known that pets were entitled to cupcakes on their birthdays?!

What do these mystical creations do? I mean, are they just for eating, or are they like the NC mall cupcakes that grant ability points and such?

Many of the dailies around the site also give out books, which vary widely in rarity and worth. A few dailies give out books that can be worth something to sell, but you can easily accumulate enough freebie books to read them to all of your pets in turn.

This happened a few months ago as well, I accidentally clicked the Soup Kitchen link from the dailies page and found that it was available. I checked it periodically and it was up for at least a week before returning to normal. It had the Festival notice up at that time too, even though it was not during Faerie Festival. My guess is that it is kind of a glitch - some setting is probably accidentally getting activated when they are updating other site content. As for whether people would get penalized for using it I don't know, since it doesn't award neopoints or items, but can award an avatar.

LMAO... one of my pets ran around with his original Liobits for YEARS, his name was Origami 

I actually switched it out though, when I was trying to persuade Turmy to snack on my petpet because I'm oddly attached to him and since that petpet is a "no trade" I knew I couldn't replace him if he did get eaten!

I think I got a scratchcard from him last week, but yes I agree that I have much better luck at getting blasted!

Yep, that's basically true! When I first started seriously collective avatars I visited him constantly with my cheapest petpet (before I found the site that forecasts when he will be awake) and it became such a habit... I recently loaded up all my pets with avatar-earning petpets (Quadrapus, Mazzew, etc) and it was several days later I clicked on "Wake Turmaculus" and realized, WAIT A MINUTE, don't eat THAT!!  Luckily he didn't and I have suspended my Turmy habit until my petpets age up for the avatars, but I would have felt really stupid if that had been the one time it worked! 

I recently had a complete brain melt trying to understand the Turmy theory also!! I found http://www.neopets.com/~brownhownd which is an amazing Turmy resource (majorly impressed that anyone has devoted the time and energy to work this schedule out!) and I was flummoxed when I tried both "awake" times listed for a day and he never woke up. Then I went back and read the fine print again, and realized that during his "awake hour" he has the POTENTIAL to wake up, but you still have to be lucky - he will wake for some people during that hour but not for everyone. Man, was I confused, LOL.

I'm with you, the notification could be clearer, but in my mind, it kind of fits that it shows him still sleeping, since even during his awake hour I have terrible luck at actually waking him up!

I live near Kansas City, Missouri right in the middle of the US and it's been nasty here this summer too. Actually this whole year has been off - it snowed at least once a week all thru April this year, May had about 3 days that it didn't rain, and then as soon as June arrived we immediately went to 95+ degrees and ridiculous humidity. But, ya know, climate change is a myth... there is nothing irregular about all these irregular and extreme weather patterns all over the place  

Seriously though, I hate the summers here. It's so sticky and muggy out most of the time that you don't even want to spend any time outdoors. I thought my kids would just wilt in the field playing baseball last month, thank goodness we don't play during July or August in our town! I know your heatwave is making you guys crazy in the UK but I'd trade with you in a second 

Fighting the Koi Warrior in the Battledome gives me more codestones than any other challenger I have tried so far. There is always a healthy market for these so it's easy to make a tidy profit. I dabble in Food Club betting and sometimes you can win quite a bit there, although it helps to follow expert bets if you are just starting out with that. Trudy's slot machine is one that gets to be worth it as long as you are playing daily, as it increases in reward with consecutive days played and will give you 100k after about 25 days, then reset. (I logged it once back when it started, and I think I made somewhere in the neighborhood of 325k off Trudy in a month or so.) I know some people make a fortune with specialty shops, but I have very poor skills at restocking and I don't have the time to curate a huge shop. Best of luck in whatever you choose!

I have wondered about this too! I only recently started collecting avatars seriously, and a few are listed as broken, like one of the clickable pet ones, and some like Bilge Dice are obviously suspended because the games are broken. However, with all the things that are SLIGHTLY BROKEN around the site most of the time, I wonder if some of the avatars I'm still missing are not functional and it's just that no one can confirm they are broken 

I guess I'm kind of in the middle of the road here, I seems to have reasonably good luck with REs and faerie quests (have had a couple of FFQs over the years) but I cannot for the life of me do other things:

• I can wobble coconuts at the Shy every day but never knocked one down
• Turmy has woken for me a couple times but never eats my pet
• Daily Kiko Pop play but no avatar
• Daily telling special joke to King Skarl but no avatar (am really, REALLY tired of that "joke")
• My last worm in Moltara does not exist either
• I cannot get a fortune with "Kyrii" in it for that avatar
• Completed my lab map a couple months ago, but have had one species/color change. ONE. Every other day it is +2 points in some stat, then the very next day it is -2 points in the same stat LOL
• "Random" avatars (neomail, graveyard, etc) do not like me

Wonder how many of these "random" things are truly random or if the game is specifically weighted for them to be nearly impossible

I agree though, I can't believe anyone was that oblivious to let that design get used in the first place. I can just imagine TNT sitting around haggling over what to put in the prize shops and tossing the trophy design to some poor intern or something, not realizing they were about to get pranked. Or maybe someone in the office was salty about never getting picked for Star Player in the staff tourney

Hmm, it seems we have. Hooray for us! It's funny actually, because I'm a manager at a bakery and my team has several euphemisms and code words that we use to remain "professional" when within hearing of customers (or employees who are acting like idiots and are driving us crazy). Lets hope I never have a need to use this new one at work!

Very interesting! I think it's cool that there is so much variation, once you realize there's a purpose behind it.

but I have to admit, I never realized before how much variation there was to the AC trophies. I'm assuming it depends on your team then? I mean I knew they had the tiny team logo that would vary, but I never realized that the actual shape/style of trophy was varied for different teams in the same year. Has it always been like that?

Good to know that the other Rusty Files is a book, I was bummed when i didn't see a book in the staff prize shop at first glance. All these bobbleheads though? I dunno, I'm not a toy collector and I sold the ones I got as prizes during the tourney. They kinda give me the creeps, especially that many going all at once LOL

Very nice surprise to your day! It's fun to watch the aircraft go by, especially the uncommon stuff. I'm in the midwest US and we happen to live along a corridor that one of the AF bases uses for training runs, so we have big military planes and helicopters fly over fairly frequently. My kids get a real kick out of watching them. We even managed to see a stealth bomber one time, completely by accident, it was on it's way to do a flyover at the baseball stadium last year when they were doing a military appreciation event. We were in the parking lot at the grocery store and my son spotted it and asked "Mom is that a superhero plane?" He'd never seen anything like it and he was baffled that it wasn't making noise like most planes we see! 

@kayahtik Best of luck! Today was my make-or-break catchup day and then real life happened. Everything turned out fine, but the AC goal is now officially toast.  Good thing AC is an annual event, I'll have to hit that goal next year!

I wasn't necessarily thinking it was a direct result of the Deserted Tomb update (because you're right, that would make no sense even by Neo standards) but I was more wondering if they had tried to update the Springs with additional items and something got, i dunno, stuck? I'm not good at coding so I don't know the mechanics of it, but it seems they have added things to lots of the prize pools lately and each time something goofy seems to happen.

Totally agree! However, I FINALLY got actual healing (a whopping 3 pts though, thanks Springs! lol) earlier today so maybe the downpour of apples has finally stopped? (Hopefully!)
