Jokes aside, it was a terrible place. Back in the old days, people who had children with down syndrome and autism would occasionally ship them off to these hospitals. A lot of the blame went to the parents as to why their child had a disability (ex. Mothers who had autistic children were told that they hadn't loved their child enough), so they found it easier to "get rid" of them. There was actually a doctor at Pennhurst who would give painful injections to patients who acted out. I'm glad these institutions are long gone! Hopefully your extended stay was somewhat pleasant?

I just got out a few days ago. Was my fifth time. LOL  So glad to be back to Neopets.

Hi.  I may need a little more information.  Did all of this start before or after you started taking birth control?  Meaning, are you taking the birth control because of these issues, or did these problems start after you started taking birth control?  There could be several causes for your problems, and your doctor telling you that everything is fine (or that nothing is wrong) is not very helpful.  If I were you, I would get a second, third, fourth...............opinion.  If NOTHING else, bleeding heavy, for extended lengths of time, can cause severe anemia and other deficiencies.  It could be something as simple as a hormone imbalance (not simple but not life threatening) to endometriosis, to a benign or malignant tumor of the uterus and/or ovary(s).  But like I said, I would need to know more about how and when this issue started.

So right off the bat, if you're squeamish, maybe don't read this one. I seriously debated even posting about this, but I needed to get some of this off my chest.
 
 
Basically my menstrual cycle is completely out of whack. It's always been an unpredictable mess (skipping months, severe pain, depression and the like), but it got way better when I started taking medicine for it. I eventually spoke with a doctor about using medicine to stop it completely, which worked for a while, but then I started bleeding again out of nowhere. I had one period that lasted three weeks and threw me into a depression so deep I was incapable of leaving my bed for a day. Now I've got my period again, and it's incredibly heavy. I'm still on medicine that's supposed to be controlling it, but the blood won't stop. It's horrible. I take medicine, the bleeding doesn't stop. I take different medicine, it still doesn't stop. I get painful tests done and the doctors find nothing. I'm bleeding and there's nothing I can do to stop it. The lack of control is devastating. Lately it's been getting to me so much I've started having panic attacks (which is a recurring problem, but that's a different discussion). I know having a period is just a natural part of life, but this is not normal. I just want to figure out what's wrong with me and fix it. The worst part about everything is the idea that the medicine I'm taking doesn't work and I'm just going to have to accept that my cycle is unpredictable, as well as accepting all the pain that goes with that. I try not to borrow trouble, but my doctor has implied that it's possible that I'll have to come off my medicine, and that really scares me. I'm just having a real rough time of it right now. End gross rant.

Sorry to hear that Jelly. That's happened to all of us. But put it in perspective: several years ago a random event changed my originally Yellow Kougra to Invisible. I've gotten used to it, but imagine if someone had spent money on a paint brush and THEN that had happened--especially if they were a kid. At least getting a few points back is easier.
I still haven't decided if I'll keep him invisible or not. I do like seeing an unobstructed background.

I didn't see the RE, but my BD pet's HP just dropped from 103 to 100 and I'm feeling the need to be angry for a bit, please excuse me for one moment...
 
   
 

 

 
Ok, through that process now, I'm now going to eat large amounts of carbs to comfort myself.

A friend of mine is getting pretty aggressively cyberbullied and I don't know what to do. I don't know if there's anything I CAN do other than tell her I'm there for her. Does anyone have any experience with this? She lives in another country, so I can't even see her in person and give her a hug.

I use my tablet almost exclusively for everything. If I absolutely need to use the laptop top, I will. If I happen to be on the laptop for some reason,  I might login to neo to play a few flash games.

I was wondering if I am the only one uses an iPad sometimes for playing neopets. I don't always use it (I still have a computer for flash-related stuff), but not for much else. I just feel lazy sometimes if I don't feel like getting out of bed in the morning, so I will get on my iPad and play.
Does anyone else do this on an iPad or portable device like a kindle or phone or something like that?
Also surprisingly, Trudy's surprise works on my iPad. Maybe it is still HTML somehow...

Wow I think it's amazing how much things have changed since the onset of Neopets. Seeing people come and go, getting nostalgic along the way. My son started playing Neopets in the 90's and got me started. The kids that were the first players are having kids now, like a second generation of Neopets users have been born. I hope these parents share their childhood game with their children too! What a wonderful gift!

I honestly didn't mind the reCAPTCHA at all, I just wish the pictures had been more fun, and better quality, rather than generally looking like they were taken with a 15 year old phone through a dirty window.  >_<
 
The day I got to click on pancakes was a happy one, lol. But more often than not it was store fronts in what looked like 3rd world slums...

Leaf shield works well, though like MOST equipment, it's more useful against some opponents than others. I used a Leaf Shield (The green one from Illusen's 29th quest) for literally a decade or more. Works great against those that have weapons with Earth, Water and/physical. Koi Warrior probably. I found great success with it  against Jelly Chia personally, but I'd say you should bring your defense to the same level/boost as your Strength. Boosts mark off, well you could call them stat plateaus, each boost is treated as a multiplier. Boost x Icons = damage (blocked by you or done to your opponent) The list of boosts, how many points you need to unlock them and how much each boosts multiplier is worth can be found here.

Your strength is 89, so your Boost is 2.5. So, 2.5 x 8 icons of your Negg Hammer, would = 20 damage to your opponent, assuming that he doesn't defend. Negg hammer also blocks 3 icons of light, so Defense boost for 48 is 1.5. So 1.5 x 3 icons, So you would block 4.5 points of LIGHT damage, assuming your opponent USED light, otherwise, it wouldn't block anything.
 
Weapons. Keep Scarab Ring, it's a decent Dual-Duty (Attacks and defends) for your level. And I'm guessing that your healing scroll is a Lesser Healing Scroll, correct?, And let's be "mean" (Just kidding about the mean thing.) and say replace the rest. Seriously, there are some better weapons for cheaper.

Every battler SHOULD, imo have a Downsize!, it blocks 50% of ALL damage ONCE per battle. And it should only be a few thousand NP. 3000-5000 is what I usually see it at. SOMETIMES slightly higher.
 
Weapons can help, but Training REALLY counts. If you want to use Defensive equipment effectively, I recommend training your defense and keeping that and your Strength pretty close to each other.
 
If there is an opponent in particular you'd like to battle, I'm sure I can suggest some cheap, but effective weapons that will be useful. But continue your training, it pays off better imo, than buying super expensive weapons. ;)

One thing I don't think most people realize is that if you have a toy and are playing with your pet, you can hit f5 in the small pop-up window to re-submit and play with it again very quickly. (It also works with multiple-use food, like omelettes). 

I hear the Merry-Go-Round on Roo Island, http://www.neopets.com/worlds/roo/merrygoround.phtml, can help, and, possibly, a Tiki Tour, on Mystery Island, http://www.neopets.com/island/tikitours.phtml, may help, too. Might want to try those a couple of times. They don't cost very much NP. Of course, playing with your pet/giving your pet a toy to play with, does help, but the Merry-Go-Round seems to boost your pet's mood faster, or more that giving it a toy to play with. If you do give it a toy, keep letting your pet play with it several times, by doing that over and over. Hopefully, your pet will cheer up soon.

I agree on the colors. The Kiko does look rather plain without the bandage & hair. I do hope that some changes are made for the final versions.

I don't like these very much. I don't really like the color of dimensional and I think pastel looks too plain.

Mine are in the lodge, now, can I use my disease as an excuse... :shiftyeyes_anim: See I have MS, and I've got pretty significant cognitive problems, one of them being a short term memory which is fried to hell and back, so I consistently forget to feed my pets. I absolutely don't LIKE putting them in the lodge, but I like finding them famished even less!
 
I keep them in either the mountain lodge or ye olde ship inn, the more expensive places don't appeal much. Generally the mountain lodge though, because the locale appeals the most to me, they'll enjoy all that outside space. They get all the extras apart from the burger bar, lol. No unhealthy food for you guys! :woot:
