I was just checking my Neomail. That was all. But I just didnt expect that...

Something was up. For sure. TNT had sent me a message. I searched my brain for anything that I would've done that would make them Neomail me. Had I broken the rules? Won the Mystery Pic Contest (Which was impossible since 1. I rarely guess right. 2. I didn't even enter the round)?

I decided to read the following:

Congratulations! Your story has been chosen as a winner of this week's Story Telling Contest. To see your story, go to http://www.neopets.com/art/storytell.phtml. Your prizes have been awarded and should be in your account.

    OMG. WHAT. :whaa:

Ok, maybe you win all the time. Maybe it isn't that big of an accomplishment.

BUT. It is for ME!! :happydance:

That's not even all of it. I checked my inventory for what prize I got, and guess what?

    A Robot Petpet PB!! :woot:

I'm so happy now!! I feel like I could do anything~!!

I think it was a year or two ago my aunt had saw a stray female Husky who was about to be taken away by animal control because a woman who lived in the area didn't want the husky to be roaming around the area only to get hurt or abused and called them. The woman who called was crying saying that she didn't want to have the husky get injurer but also didn't want her to be put down since she had no identification and my aunt stepped up and offered to take the dog instead of it being put down despite her having a Chihuahua and 2 Jack Russell Terriors. I got to visit the Husky and help her out with feeding her and stuff like that. Also I got to help her come up with a temporary name which was Luna until we found out if she had just ran away from her owner and lost her collar somewhere but no one had claimed Luna after putting up an ad about the found dog. Since my aunt couldn't keep her very much longer because the yard wasn't big enough for Luna to run in she decided to put Luna up for adoption. After awhile a woman who had owned huskies all her life had adopted Luna and was able to giver her a better home and the woman who adopter her would send pictures of Luna back to my aunt to show she was doing well in her new home.I don't think the one who adopted Luna sends her pictures anymore since it's been awhile when Luna was adopted. I'm glad that my aunt was there to offer to take Luna instead of letting her get put to sleep by Animal Control.

HomuraAkemiTheHero reacted to Mouseykins in Mouseykins Captured!
Mouseykins here, on location in an Altador Colosseum holding cell. Before the Altador Cup even started, my fate was sealed. I guess my attack on the guards last year has come back to haunt me.

I arrived in Altador a week before kickoff and immediately the Wanted posters caught my attention. My face was plastered on them, along with my name and the crimes I had committed last year. I stood in front of a poster reading, "Wanted: Mouseykins! For hostilities towards Colosseum Guards and grounds. Offering a 500,000 Neopoints reward for any tips leading to her capture." I frantically looked around hoping I hadn't been spotted yet. I noticed a shaded alley and walked briskly towards it. Once I was safely in the alley, I began rummaging through my bag to see if I had anything to use as a disguise. At that moment I was hoping a change in my appearance would work long enough for me to get out of Altador and back home to Faerieland. I was able to change my clothes, but there wasn't much I could do for my face. The only thing I had was my Faerieland Team Mask from last year. I put on the mask and untied my hair from its professional looking bun, so it framed my face in golden curls. Satisfied with my new look I carefully walked out of the alley looking around cautiously before going any further.

Upon exiting the alley, I was feeling quite comfortable in my disguise and proceeded to stroll down the street. Earlier I had eaten all my food stores I had packed for my journey. I was feeling awfully hungry and decided to stop at a nearby pastry cart to purchase some food for lunch and to take with me back to Faerieland. Before walking up the the cart, I checked my appearance in a nearby window to make sure my disguise was still in place. The last thing I wanted was for someone to recognize me and call the guards. My mask was still fixed tightly to my face and I still looked concealed. I went up to the cart and purchased my snacks, and continued walking down the crowded street out of town. I got three quarters of the way to the main gates when someone bumped into me and knocked my bag off my shoulder. Out spilled half of the contents, including my press badge with my ID on it. The stranger who bumped into me, started helping me gather up my things. In a panic I noticed my ID on the ground, face up. I grabbed it in a hurry, hoping he hadn't seen it and gathered the rest of my things up and went on my. I thought to myself, "wow that was close" and let out a big sigh of relief. Turns out my close encounter was too good to be true.

When I arrived at the gates, the guards were already there waiting for me. Quickly I turned around and tried to get away, but I was cornered. These guards had flanked me and all of them were pointing Freeze Rays at me. Ironically they were the same as the one I used on the guards last year. There was no where to run, so I had no choice but to surrender. One of the guards took my bag from me, while another bound my hands. Four guards stayed with me as I was escorted to the main guard station. I noticed that one of the guards with me was the same person who bumped into me earlier. Apparently he was undercover looking for me and knocked me over on purpose so he could sneakily search my belongings to determine my identity. At the station, my belongings were locked up and I was immediately tossed into a holding cell. Before locking the door, a guard tossed a pad of paper and a pen onto the cot and said, "Here! Write about this!" And with a slam of the door I was by myself, or so I thought.

With nothing to do, I decided to take a nap on the cot. I was barely asleep when I felt something crawling on my arm. Slowly I opened my eyes and noticed a tiny little Mootix crawling on me to get my attention. Carefully I sat up as to not harm the little critter. The Mootix introduced himself as Mighty. We spent the next couple of hours talking. I explained why I was there and Mighty offered to help me get messages back to TDNs Coverage Headquarters. Using the notepad and pen the guard through at me I began to write my story.

If you are reading this, then Mighty has succeeded in delivering my message. To secure the pages to Mighty to make it possible for him to carry, I took a couple threads from my pillow case. I used one to tie the pages together and the other one to tie the bundle to Mighty's back. With his package secured, he was off. While waiting for him to return, I went back to sleep and to hopefully dream up an escape plan.

That's all for now! Hopefully I can get another message out soon. Until then take care and stay out of trouble!

I think it would be awesome to have an instant messenger that you could chat with your neofriends more easily. I know it would never happen haha, but it has crossed my mind, trying to get together with friends to play KQ that it would be so much easier with an instant messenger. lol could you imagine how crazy that might drive the filters? XP

they do have that instant messenger thing while playing KQ though ;) although we all know how fun that is lol

I always thought the neopets that lived in the water had a spell cast on them by the Water Faerie or something to keep them from drying up on land and that the spell allowed them to float in air and that was how they moved. That's the only reason I can think of how they can survive on land.

Sorry about posting this today and not yesterday on its scheduled time. I will have to change the date, as I do not have time to do these every Friday, so with that here is this week's article! :)

You can read last week's article here: http://www.tdnforums.com/index.php?/topic/41534-goomys-thoughts-article-i-does-neopets-exhibit-real-governments/#entry748303

~Article II: Does Neopets exhibit real city structures?~

Neopets, a friendly, fake world where people play flash games to gain fake currency when people can buy fake clothes, food or shops. This website couldn't possibly have any real world connection right? Wrong. Many neopian worlds are structured just as real world cities are.

There are three world city structures. These three structures are the Concentric Zone, the Sector and the Multiple Nuclei models. Here are the facts about each model. The Concentric Zone model was created by sociologist E.H. Burgess in 1923. His model states that the CBD (or central business district aka downtown) is in the center, and various zones, such as Zone in Transition, Working Class Zone and Residential Zone grow symmetrically from the CBD in rings. It does not let any of the other rings to expand. The Sector Model was created by Homer Hoyt in the 1939. This model contrasts Burgess's CZM as he states the CBD is in the center, and the sections (Factories, Low Residential, High Residential, and Middle class Residential) all grow in sectors from the CBD. This lets expansion of all the sections. Finally, the Multiple Nuclei model states that there is no one center, but are many. This model shows how there might be one nucleus here of the CBD, where shops and businesses grow. However, there are other nuclei such as a college, where businesses such as coffee shops and book stores thrive. So how does Neopets' worlds relate to these models?

First let’s look at the Concentric Zone Model. The first example of the CZM is Altador. You have the Hall of Heroes in the center, where all the action occurs in the plot. Then you have the Zone in Transition which is shown through the low quality house and the long houses that can hold a lot of people. Then, as you move farther away, you have larger and a lot more room in between house right outside the walls of Altador, signifying the Commuter Zone, which is where all the rich people reside. Another example of the CZM is Mystery Island. Notice how you have two large buildings in the center of MI. Then as you move farther from the two large buildings, the buildings first become smaller and smaller, until by the coast, the buildings get larger and larger, signifying the Zone in Transition and the Commuters Zone respectively. The Concentric Zone between Altador and Mystery Island are shown in Los Angeles, as the CBD is in the center, while the underclass, or poor people live near the center, which signifies the Zone in Transition, and as you get farther and farther away from the city, there are very affluent suburbs, such as Beverly Hills, signifying the Commuter Zone.

Next, let’s visit the Sector Model. The first world we will visit is Faerieland. Faerieland has various sections, Faerie's cities, Jhudora's Bluff, and the Poogle Races. While the CBD, Faerie City, is not technically in the center. It is the center of attention in Faerieland. Notice how the rich residential of Faerieland grow from a spin in the center of Faerie City, with castles and large shops in this spine. Then notice to the left of the center of Faerie city, how the castles and residential houses become much less affluent and more in ruins, and Jhudora's Bluff signifying the low residential class. Finally, notice how all the economic shops are on another spine, signifying the Industrial sector. Another world that shows the Sector Model is Roo Island. Roo Island has everything needed for the Sector Model, a CBD, a spine of high class residential, a large section of low and middles residential, and an economic spine. The CBD can be considered as the Game Room, as that is the center of activity in Roo Island. Then, to the right of the game room, there are houses that seem barely stable, signifying the Low-Class residential. Then, on the spine of the high class residential, there is the large castle and lavish buildings. Then, the other spine going from left to right on the CBD includes the economic sector of Roo Island. Finally, the middle class residential is just under the CBD, with larger and more stable houses than the low-class residential. A good example of the Sector Model is Chicago, as the CBD is the center of activity, and the city is split into sections, such as the industrial/economic sector going to Lake Michigan, and the low-class residential living near the economic/industrial sector in search of jobs.

Finally, let’s visit the Multiple Nuclei Model. Many worlds of Neopets use this model, but the best examples are of Haunted Woods and Neopia Central. Let's begin with Haunted Woods. Haunted Woods has three nuclei, the city of Haunted Woods, Deserted Fairground and the Gypsy Camp. These three nuclei each attract their own people and have their own economic and residential sectors. This is what the MNM is about, one or more areas that contain their own economic and residential area, apart from the CBD. Next, let’s visit Neopia Central. Neopia Central was in my last article, and it is in it again, as it explains many things in the real world. Neopia Central has four nuclei, Neopia Central, the market place, Neopian bazaar, and Neopian plaza. All of these nuclei are rich in economics, while few people actually live here. A city example of a Multiple Nuclei model is Detroit, as there are many nuclei, such as downtown, then Wayne State University, then the airport near Detroit.

Many worlds in Neopets do not fit into one model, but into two or three, such as Meridell and Shenkuu, but this is a story for another time.

Neopets is not just a fun child website, but an intellectual and smart game if you analyze each world or dig deeper into the history of the game.

I'd appreciate a few revamps myself. I got my hopes up during the Monster Hunting event we did recently that the Haunted Woods/Neovia would get revamped. Shenkuu could use an update, as could Altador, and a few more lands. I'd really like to visit Lutari Island in my Neo lifetime, so I have to also second the new worlds/new things to do idea.

I've been trying for months to get a question in the editorial. I truly think we should have the pin code security on our Neodecks and also our food club bets/winnings. One of my older Neofriends told me once that somebody hacked into their account and changed her password. She caught it immediately and changed her password back. She didn't get any warnings or notices, so she didn't think there was too much damage. She had her pin code on everything that's possible at the time, but everything was safe... except her Neodeck. The thief was pretty smart and stole most of her Neodeck. She has since had to start nearly over with her Neodeck. Some of the cards in there were worth over buying price in shops.

And since she (and I both) make quite a bit of bank from the food club in winnings, I feel like that should have pin security as well, or those winnings could be collected easily by peoples who take accounts from others.
