I really believe that paper books should and will keep going strong! Let's face it, not everyone is tech savvy and certainly not everyone has an E-reader or something like it. I think there will always be a population of people that will want paper books, even in our technological generation. Personally, I love my computer for Youtube, Facebook, Neopets:) etc.. But if I'm reading a book, it's because I don't want to stare at a computer screen. I do enough of that already, and a book is a nice break. I understand how they take up more space, kill more trees, and so on but I still think that books have a place in my world at least :D

Today, the Battledome was taken down by TNT. The news post says it will be down for about a day to fix the recent problems users have been having (trouble starting battles, pets getting stuck in battles, etc.).
 


What do you mean you don't need help fixing it?

Also, since the arrival of NC to the site, it's become a silly option to turn the site to younger audiences. Think about it: who's got the most potential to spend money on NC? A minor who doesn't have their own money and has to rely on their parents' willingness to lend their credit card for some "silly online game"? Or a working adult who's got their own money/credit card and can spend as much as they want, anytime they want?

The problem is that they moved Terabytes of data, and there was inevitably some corruption. It is literally billions of lines of code written nearly continuously over 16 years, with numerous staff changes (very few, if any, of the original programmers are still there) and dozens of protocols (the official, standard ones for the internet, not TNT-specific ones -- it's likely that TNT's programming conventions and practices have changed over the years, too -- if they even had many standards in the early years). So when they try to fix something, it can break something else.
 
The first move was so corrupted, they had to repeat part of it and start over. I think people are underestimating the size and complexity of the problem. It's not like trying to find a needle in a haystack. It's more like trying to find a hundred needles in all the haystacks on earth, without the aid of a magnet.
 
I'm frustrated, too. I'm sure none of us are nearly as frustrated as the programmers trying to solve it. I believe that they have skilled programmers, probably a few extra on temporary assignment from Jump Start. Enough? Well, the more people you have mucking around, the more they might actually break things worse... I'm not sure management can make them work faster. I think they've got the priorities right, and their current method of working on it, with occasional downtimes at night when needed, is working. I know some people say they'd rather they take the site down for longer and fix it, but I'm not sure that would really help them fix it faster. I'm sure they're highly motivated to solve this, so they can work on new content and keep their jobs.
 
Updating old code is probably one of those things on the to-do list that never actually happens. Now they're being forced to do it. It's taking a long time, but the site might actually end up working much better -- and be ready to move in exciting new directions -- once it's done. If there's anyone left to enjoy it by the time they finish...

I would like to see the World Challenges back up. It's not very often the games I prefer to play for them make it into the lineup. Though if they could randomize ALL of the lineups, (so Meerca Chase and a couple others weren't in EVERY flippin day) that would be awesome! Otherwise, if there are only 2 or 3 slots that change games, and 2-3 constant games, those good at the constant games would be the only ones getting the WC map pieces, if the changed-out slot games aren't good for them. I like variable choice options. ;)
 
I HOPE that TNT will complete the Battledome as well. Though I'd be happy if it happened in 2015, and before 2016. ;) Hey, I'm realistic at times. lol
 
The current LAG of course must go. But I'm sure they'll find the reason and fix that fairly timely. TNT usually seems to fix lag fairly quickly. :)

Oh yes, last thing. Neopoint game ratios. It would be nice if the minimum ratio would at least reflect the top score possible in the game when hiking the requirement for 1000np higher. Kass Basher is my main cause of my ire this month. 2.17 is INSANE! Especially when last month it was something like 0.86. So until the next change. A player needs to score 2,170 points for 1000np! Impossible I say! The highest score on the scoreboard so far this month is only.. 1,583! I'm not saying remove all the ratio changes, but keep the changes at LEAST REALISTIC!
 
Otherwise, I'm liking most of what's gone on since the move to Jumpstart. :)

I'm not American but I love Turkey & cranberries and I wish we had a Turkey holiday , since it's not a Christmas tradition for us either - people here prefer cake and wine. So I guess I'd celebrate it for the food :D
 

Got a little party for my bugs....since it's their last night. Gave em a gazebo and lots of snacks, especially candy and bacon. Some still wish to work, but that's fine. They don't need to now...it's the end after all.
