I'm sorry for the late reply. Put downsize! in place of the Parasol of Unfortunate Demise for now. And put the Parasol in your SDB until you feel you need it. It's perfectly fine to stick with enemies you can handle easily for now. We're merely prepping you for when the battle portion(s) of the plot come around so you can do your best when the time comes for you to fight opponents that might be tougher than you. Though, it can be kind of fun actually. Challenging tougher opponents. I don't know if the Defenders of Neopia series 1 or 2 are still not working or if they fixed them yet, but if they were working, I would suggest you challenge yourself by clearing those challenges. Since some of them do get quite tricky. but if they are not working, there's really only yourself to motivate you into trying tougher opponents on harder difficulties. Some opponents drop some better specific items at harder difficulties. Anyway, it can also be a good way to learn about the BD and different item combos. That's how I learned about the BD, experience. Since I was, and frankly still stink at earning NP via restocking. I'm always looking at cheaper items to help give me a slight edge that might be JUST enough to win. lol I even tried using a Double Dryer and a Bubble Blaster to see how using those together would work during one of the war plots. Turns out, the Double Dryer reflects 50% of air, but then it broke, the Bubble Blaster then reflected 25% of the remaining air icons, but that too, eventually broke. lol But, it DID allow me one or two more victories before the wave I was fighting got too strong for my peophin to win anymore. I wanna say I think that was during the War of Maraqua plot..... Or maybe Hannah and the Ice Caves.... been so long I really can't recall for sure. lol I don't even remember the components to make the Bubble Blaster, just that it's something you can make at the Cooking Pot. lol Anyway, I've gotta go to bed. Don't worry about tackling tougher opponents. That'll come with time and participating in plots if you don't want to do it without a plot to motivate you. I like the strategy involved in battling, so it's a good brain-exercise in my view of it. If you feel like tackling something stronger, TDN has all the current profiles of the Active Challengers here so you can research them. If you are wondering about some equipment to take on a specific stronger opponent, feel free to post and I'll try to help you figure something out. Also listed are the challengers of previous wars and plots. It can be fun seeing what old challengers had to work with, back when those were titans, when compared to more recent challengers, those titans of yore would be chumps with their outdated weaponry. lol https://thedailyneopets.com/battledome/secret-challengers Have a good one.

Wow, you're really moving along!! Ok, I see you're using a Parasol of Unfortunate Demise. If you count your Feel better Soup as Air Defense, but only on the 1 turn per battle you can use it, then you're just lacking Fire defense. I would STILL suggest getting a Downsize! from either Defence Magic or from a Player Shop. As once per battle it blocks 50% of ALL damage on the turn it's used. https://www.neopets.com/shops/wizard.phtml?string=Downsize! However, Other items to consider so you have some Air and Fire defense would be.... Shield of Faerieland Blocks 5 fire, 5 physical and ALL Air. Was Cheap after the Fragments event, now seems to be up around 9-10mil, still cheaper than buying it from the Hidden Tower, which is 12 mil. Or Faerie Tabbard Blocks 5 fire, 5 physical, 3 air, 3 earth, ALL water. 7.5 mil in the Hidden Tower. Didn't see any on the TP or in auctions. OR Golden Scorchstone Blocks 3 Air, 5 Fire This is "cheap" or would be if it wasn't an r98. Runs about 137,400np+ on the Super Wiz right now. It has a rating of 1 on JellyNeo's Battlepedia. But, it does block some air and some fire at the same time. So that's up to you and whatever your budget is. You can try to buy one from the Defence Magic shop too, where they restock. I'd say, get a Downsize! And use it. If you need Light/water/earth protection, then Swap it out for the Parasol of Unfortunate Demise at that time. There are a couple other items I could suggest, such as the Frozen Cyodrake Shield or Thyoras Tear, but those will cost you much more than they are worth due to war-inflation. Though Frozen Cyodrake Shield would be pretty Ideal for Air and Fire defense if it weren't so exceptionally rare and costly.

Finally won a game! Couldn't make it 2 in a row though. lol Edit: 2nd win..... almost 40 games later. lol At least I got a Bronze Trophy for my 2nd win. lol
-
Actually, I like the Uni shopkeeper's graphic better this way, the graphic just looks better drawn imho.
-
After seeing this topic I decided to give the game a try. Now I remember WHY I don't have a trophy for this game, aside from it taking time to load when I first started playing Neopets, now that I've played 22 straight games, all losses, I didn't like the odds for winning this. I used to play Solitaire on the computer back in the old days of Windows 95 and 98 2nd ed. I played pretty frequently and won quite often. But this version, I don't know how you win so often Granny! I've tried drawing 1 card and drawing 3 cards. But I can't win in the limited draws allotted! I got close once, and my best score is 330 points. Ugh, I need to go to bed, but I really don't like the odds of this version of Solitaire. Heck, one game I played, I was dealt all face up cards being black save 1, and over 2/3rds of the drawn cards were ALSO black suits. So I couldn't use hardly any of the cards I drew. I was drawing 1 card at a time in that game. I think the main difference between this and Windows' version of Solitaire, was that, if I'm recalling correctly, there weren't such strict limits on drawing cards. Whether you chose to draw 1 or 3 at a time. Though there WAS a timer and you'd lose points the longer you took to finish. Well, maybe I'll give this a go again tomorrow. G'night all, and good luck!

LOL It would seem so! I just got the lame 100k as my weekly quest prize (again), I'm gonna skip it to hopefully change it for something better. Well, that's entirely up to you. If the enemies for the plot have Dark icons, you're already protected 100% from those icons when you use The Mystical Tablet. So you'd only need Kings Lens to Reflect 50% Earth or 50% Light. Both of Which have cheaper means to block or reflect. One of those Roxtons Trusty Bowie Knife items for example, is around 600-700k. That blocks 75% Earth. While an Expert Lens would Reflect 50% of Light, a Parasol of Unfortunate Demise (about 900np) would Block 100% of Light and a few icons of Earth and Water. Honestly, since it's rare I could see keeping it for that reason, or for a gallery item. But, otherwise, you might be better off selling it. You could recoup some of the np you spent on your Varia is the Bomb. Last price I saw for a Kings Lens on the TP is 2.2 mil, which must be since it became a weekly prize. So it would put some NP back in your coffers at least. But the decision is up to you. About the only thing I can see the Kings Lens helping you with off-hand would be a few high-end items. Such as Skarls Sword, or Seasonal Attack Pea for example. Those are examples of where it would reflect 50% of MORE than 1 icon type because those weapons have multiple icon types. It would reflect chunks of other bulk-icon type weapons. Including 50% of the earth parts of any of the pea family weapons, 3 of the anagram swords from the Hidden Tower, and a couple of the other HT and Smuggler's Cove weapons. Without having to change equipment. So really, it's up to you as to what you feel would be more useful. The item, or the NP.

lol Right. Boy, you sure get lucky with some cool and valuable battledome toys! Kings Lens comes from Coltzan's Shrine and can reflect 50% of Dark, Light and Earth icons at the same time for each turn it is used. Multiple use, does not break as far as I know. I checked the TP, and it's asking price seems to be 2.2mil. Your "The Mystical Tablet" takes care of Dark defense with 100% block. If you had the Bowie Knife, that would block a flat 75% of earth damage, but earth is fairly easy to find blockers for. Light too, is pretty easy to block or reflect. An Expert Lens, also from Coltzan's Shrine, reflects 50% Light and never breaks, and are almost pathetically cheap they are so common. If you need Light defense, I would recommend a "Parasol of Unfortunate Demise" It blocks 100% of light, some earth and some water, for about 900np. I just did a quick super wiz search. lol So yeah, you could keep the Kings Lens, or you could certainly Sell it for some nice NP! Up to you.

Sure, then you could go for the Downsize! as a defensive measure. Blocking 50% damage Once per battle might not seem like a lot, but used strategically it can save you, and at under 5k, it's really cheap for what it does. I still have one in my set, it's been there for many, many years. My set right now is mainly offense, but if I need to switch to a defensive strategy during the plot for example, I have shields and reflectors in my sdb. Most are the more relatively cheap reflectors/shields, (every little bit helps), but I have some decent dual-duty weapons too that can shave off some decent iconage while doing some decent damage too. Roxtons Trusty Bowie Knife from the advent calendar a couple years back for example, a decent attack and blocks I think it was 75% of earth icons. It's attack is weaker than my regular weapons, but the defense would make it valuable against an opponent using an "attack pea", for example, which as the lowest of the pea-family, is all earth damage. Having items that you can swap into your set to change its dynamic is a good idea, especially when plots are involved, since you don't know what kind of weapons the opponents will be using.

Congratulations!!!! Let's see, I would say, you could put in pretty much whatever you want for your last slot. When it comes time to battle, you could save that slot for a defensive item that would help against the specific enemy you're facing. Or, you could cover all your bases with a 1-use item like a Thick Smoke Bomb. Or, that's what you don't have yet! A Downsize! https://items.thedailyneopets.com/items/downsize Downsize! (yes the item name has the exclamation point in it) is a Once Per Battle item that reduces all damage by 50% on the turn it is used. It usually sells in player shops for around 3k-4k, currently on the super wiz the cheapest is about 4,475np. It restocks for a little cheaper if I recall correctly, at the Defence Magic Shop, and it restocks fairly frequently too. Thick Smoke Bomb, can be bought at the Secret Ninja Training School, or from other players who have access to that training school, it blocks 100% damage, but is only 1 use and it's gone. The next step up from either of these items would be Thyoras Tear, which blocks 100% damage Once Per Battle and is sold at the Defence Magic Shop. I would love one someday. Right now of course to buy from other users is to pay a LOT more than they are worth due to the ongoing plot. My recommendation would be stick with getting a Downsize!, Thick Smoke Bomb, or keep that slot open for one of a variety of shields or cheap reflectors that will help based on whichever opponent you might be facing. In that order of priority.

Hmmm, they're all pretty close, though The Order supposedly has slightly the best odds this round according to Oxrbidge's predictions. Not sure yet who I'll go with yet.
-
Right, also, the anagram swords have a maximum possible damage of 24 icons. 16-24 basically, so your seasonal attack pea beats them hands down. Even Sword of Malum/Blazing Embers are slightly below the anagram swords. So if you have something close or comparable, they are not worth the high price-tag. I did a lot of comparisons for my own set after Sword of Malum and Blazing Embers came out from the Wraith Resurgence plot. We got some good weapons from those, even if they are no trade. And that's probably why, because they are almost as strong as the anagram swords. Just a few icons shy.

Are the faerie abilities worth it?/which ones?

Are the faerie abilities worth it?/which ones?
Aquamentis12 replied to GillyTook's topic in Battledome & Battlepedia Chat
GOOD NEWS! We have an article to help with that! https://thedailyneopets.com/battledome/faerie-abilities Those abilities highlights with Yellow are the recommended abilities. For Level 10 our guide doesn't have a highlighted ability, probably because it's up to you, they're all pretty equivalent to each other. I have the 'meh' ability for level 10 because I tend to focus on defense. Otherwise, I would recommend following the Yellow-highlighted abilities as laid out in the guide. But feel free to diverge if you feel like it. -
battleground of the obelisk points?
Aquamentis12 replied to GillyTook's topic in Battledome & Battlepedia Chat
Yeah. Oh well, I'm sure there's nothing TNT could do about it, it's not like it's against the rules. As for the scoring, I remember hearing that as a rumor, but there's no way that I know of to confirm it. I think TNT would keep it to 1 win =1 point across the difficulty levels, because that way a new player with a weak pet could contribute just as much as a veteran player with a strong battle pet. It makes it an even battlefield. But that's just my own theory. Likewise, there's no way to confirm it. lol -
battleground of the obelisk points?
Aquamentis12 replied to GillyTook's topic in Battledome & Battlepedia Chat
I don't know if there's a scoring system beyond wins, but I did happen across someone's profile who I believe is an officer in that large guild that goes after the obelisk in the skirmishes. They seem to have a bounty list, rewards for those who do an exceptional job and can prove it for doing literally hundreds of battles each skirmish. It's no wonder whichever faction they choose tends to win, with a reward system like that. That being said, I always knew this would eventually happen from the day we found out the skirmishes were going to be an on-going thing. And I loathed that thought, it's simply annoying that I ended up being right because one guild basically controls the skirmishes now. Instead of it truly being up to the luck of the draw. That guild decides who to go for, and the rest of us can only guess and hope for a coinciding selection. Rather kills a fair amount of the fun of it, imho anyway. -
Ah, Hanso Charisma Charms are not worth hardly anything anymore, they were a plot prize originally. They block all darkness and have a 10-icon attack. So they are a small step down from The Mystical Tablet. You don't need them. Sure! During battle, open and check in the combat log, it'll be on the left side, under your pet, it will say the damage you take, and that includes the icon types. Though you for the 1p opponents you can also know what they use by checking out the 1-player profiles of Secret Battledome Challengers. TDN has these here. Under the heading Active Challengers. https://thedailyneopets.com/battledome/secret-challengers Click the challenger you wish you fight and you will see their stats and equipment. Click on their equipment and you will be taken to that item's item database entry with it's stats, what types of icons and how many of each icon it does. As well as special effects that might be known. If you know what icon types might be prevalent in your opponent's arsenal, then you can plan the proper defensive gear for it if you need it. Whenever the new plot's battle phase starts, that's something we at TDN will be figuring out. What the new opponent(s)' weapons are and if there are any new ones, what they do. Then we will create a new entry for them in their own plot section. So when the battles start, please stay tuned as we will be working to figure out the info and get it up asap.

Hey congrats on hitting 100mil! Yeah, I think so. Varia is the Bomb is only once per battle, but if you use it with Seasonal Attack Pea and the faerie ability Lens Flare, that's a lot of icons getting through to your opponent on your first turn. Ah ok, thanks. I guess I was remembering incorrectly and it only blocks 2 icon types. Darkness is fairly easy to block/reflect, especially with Hanso Charisma Charms having been part of the Daily Quest Rewards pool. But Physical can't be reflected and not many pieces of equipment can completely block physical. So I'd suggest keeping it in case you need defense against either of those two icon types. Plus doing 9-icons of damage while defending 2 whole icon types is a pretty fair trade. Plus the slight healing might save your bacon someday, either cumulatively or by lucky happenstance

Hey @GillyTook! Congrats on getting the soup!! That will cover your healing needs for a VERY long time! Sword of Malum might be useful for it's icon types if needed, but otherwise you could unequip it and put it in your SDB. The Mystical Tablet, I don't recall what I read about it, but if I recall, I believe it has 100% blocking of 3 icon types, so it might come in handy. I'm sure I mentioned them in a previous post in this thread. I'm just not up for searching for it right now. As for the bombs. You COULD go for a G-bomb. Or, you might try a Varia is the Bomb instead or two. First, here is the information on your current bomb, and the other two items. Thistleberry Pingrenade 13-24 total icons Varia is the Bomb 4.8mil on the TP/Auctions 25 total icons Ghostkerbomb 7.3mil on the TP 21-30 total icons 6.77mil in the below linked Auction https://www.neopets.com/auctions.phtml?type=bids&auction_id=199590799 Your current bomb is fairly weak at 13-24 icons, you could actually unequip it. Varia is the Bomb, does not count as a bomb but it IS once per battle. Still, combing this with your Seasonal Attack Pea (28 icons) would give you 53 icons of damage once per battle. Ghostkerbomb, has a high maximum of 30 icons, but it rarely reaches that high. It seems more likely that it hits 21-25 icons. If spending the extra few million for a G-bomb is worth it to you, you could get it then. Otherwise, if you want to save some NP, I would skip the bombs and go for a Varia is the Bomb. If you got BOTH, then you would have 2 turns that could deal HIGH icons. 49-58 icons combining Seasonal Attack Pea with Ghostkerbomb. It really depends on what you want to do and how much NP you want to spend, Remember that some defensive items might be good for the plot when it starts. The Mystical Tablet will help there, there are other icon types to defend of course, but there are other shields that aren't really expensive that can take a chunk out of most icon types. So maybe don't worry about it for now. But keep some NP just in case.

Congratulations @Naamah D.! So is this your first apartment then? Quite a big step! I hope the move goes super smooth!

@granny63020, your set looks fine for now. The only defense item I could suggest would be a Thyoras Tear. It blocks 100% of damage for 1 turn Once Per Battle. But it's super expensive right now like every other good piece of equipment with the impending battle plot. You could possible go with the one use version, the Thick Smoke Bombs which can be bought from player shops or from the Secret Ninja Training School. They do the same thing, but once they are used, they are gone for good. I think your set is fine for right now, so don't worry too much about it. When the battle plot comes out, I'm sure we'll be testing the opponents for their arsenals and abilities. I'm sure that neither of us will likely need to change your gear for most of it. Even for the final boss, we might be ok, if it's like the Wraith event where we got Sword of Malum and Blazing Embers from. I'M hoping it will be a little more epic than that though, more on the level of the Obelisk War would be my preference.
-
Hey @granny63020, sorry I didn't see this sooner. I just wanted to clarify, thatI didn't mean your defense-stat when I said "Not a lot of Defense", I meant defensive items. Your defensive stat, like your Strength stat is already above the maximum of 750. But since, like I also said, you can beat your opponents easily so far, you probably don't need other defensive gear until you have an opponent you can't beat in a couple of turns. Which MIGHT be the battle-plot TNT says is coming. Your set is good for now though. IF there's an opponent you need more defensive items for in the battle plot, you can worry about it then, since we have no way of knowing what defensive items will be effective before then.
-
For now @granny63020, I'd say it looks good! Not a lot of defense, but that's ok when you're fighting opponents that you can beat in a couple of turns.
-
Sounds like your pet has some very nice stats @discobiscuit! Why wouldn't you increase your pet's HP further? Sure, you can take on MOST 1p opponents on easy and many on Mighty right now, but it might come in handy if you want to challenge opponents on stronger difficulties. Who knows what TNT has in store for us with the battle plot? Good luck getting enough faeries for the level 500 ability! I chose Summon Monoceraptor for my peophin. It's not bad, though I wish it was more than once per day. I use FQFCs too. It can be quicker, and when you do get the faerie you want, you get more points than simply training. Also, one thing to consider, a FQFC is basically $1 of NC for 9 days. But that can be better if you don't have, or don't want to spend millions of NP on Red Codestones. Especially in this pre-war economy. I augment with occasional training and Kitchen Quests, when they're under 5-10k. I only need to work on HP right now too.
-
Thanks for adding your confirmation to the conversation @discobiscuit! So did you finally max out your Strength and Defense, so you could focus on HP? All that training of nothing but level, man I can imagine how frustrating that must've been!
-
@GillyTook, that sounds like a good plan! Regarding Kitchen Quests. At least there's no penalty if you don't feel like finishing them. I recommend price checking each of the 3 or 4 items your asked for before you buy any. Lately I've been getting thrown some curve-balls when trying to do a Kitchen Quest. There'd be 2 or 3 reasonably priced items requested, 1k-2k or so, and then one that is over 10k. While it'd be worth it NP-wise to try it for a random stat point, I only need to work on my HP, so if I get a worthless item or low amount of NP back, or the stat point goes to some other stat, it's not very good. So I keep checking and hoping for a lower priced-quest. As I'm trying hard to save my NP to upgrade my battle gear. My point is, just be wary of how much each item costs and do what you feel you can afford per quest. You can complete up to 10 on-site quests a day. Snow Faerie, Edna, Kitchen Quests, all count toward the 10. The counter resets at midnight NST. And the time to complete the quests seems to be between 2 and a half to 3 and a half hours pretty often. Good luck!
