I remember being hit with an RE like this years ago, and from that moment on, I tried to not have more than about 20k on hand, and put the rest in the bank.

BRUTAL!!!  they definitely should not be doing that to people.  the worst i've had is 5000 taken, i am super paranoid about only taking money out of the bank one click away from using it.

I've had 20,000 taken from me in the same RE. You really shouldn't have 2,000,000 out. That kind of NP can earn you some serious interest in the bank.
