neopets98
I have the same problem rn. I am lost in calculus. I go on neopets or this forum & find something that entertains me. Try watching a new show/movie? Or reading a book? It's a nice escape Psmucker3
Venus0523
After reading your post, I searched for some ideas for you and found the following ideas: Go for a 10 minute walk - preferably a park-like setting, but anywhere will work Breath deeply - This stimulates the parasympathetic reaction, which helps us to calm down. Visualize - Make yourself comfortable and then try to picture a peaceful scene: a future vacation, your favorite beach, future goal, etc. Put on some music - Any music that you love will flood your brain with feel-good neurochemicals like dopamine. Find a funny video - Laughter enhances your intake of oxygen-rich air, stimulates your heart, lungs and muscles, and increases the endorphins that are released by your brain Good luck with your studies and relaxation! nightfall8705, Wildbreeze and Psmucker3
Shelley
I feel you. I'm going through that myself :p well with art homework the solution was simple- go to the studio with your friends, stay up all night, work, put on some good music, and make it a party But now that I'm working on a business degree it's a whole new world haha. It's not as much work but writing essays drain me. It feels more time consuming than it actually is. I've been taking regular breaks to go outside and I take breaks to go on neo or play candy crush. But with playing games, I make sure to time myself. Ill usually take 15 minutes to play games. also! I do yoga before going to bed a lot. And one of my classes actually requires meditation as homework haha so that helps nightfall8705, Aquamentis12 and Psmucker3

WhiteWolf
Meditation is great for relaxing if you need a "quiet" way to relax. I'm also fond going to the gym, and beating the stuffing out of the boxing bag. Great tension/stress reliever. Bike rides work as well. When all else fails, find a private place and let out a good, loud scream. You'd be amazed much stress that can take away.
Naamah D.
The best way to deal with stress is to push it aside and do something different. When I'm stressed I play video games or I write in a journal.
lizzyjane101
So many great ideas. I have cats that I can cuddle, which is nice and puts things into perspective a little. I've also found that having hobbies like writing or drawing can be great for when I want to just do my thing without pressure. I'm doing my final high school exams right now and I find having a book or two that I really look forward to reading is great for motivation and relaxation. Koakuma_Heaven
It can take about 10-15 minutes to do but Progressive Muscle Relaxation is great, it's good for insomnia too if stress is keeping you up. Step 1. Assume a comfortable position. You may lie down; loosen any tight clothing, close your eyes and be quiet. Step 2. Assume a passive attitude. Focus on yourself and on achieving relaxation in specific body muscles. Tune out all other thoughts. Step 3. Tense and relax each muscle group as follows: Forehead - Wrinkle your forehead, try to make your eyebrows touch your hairline for five seconds. Relax. Eyes and nose - Close your eyes as tightly as you can for five seconds. Relax. Lips, cheeks and jaw - Draw the centers of your mouth back and grimace for five seconds. Relax. Feel the warmth and calmness in your face. Hands - Extend your arms in front of you. Clench your fists tightly for five seconds. Relax. Feel the warmth and calmness in your hands. Forearms - Extend your arms out against an invisible wall and push forward with your hands for five seconds. Relax. Upper arms - Bend your elbows. Tense your biceps for five seconds. Relax. Feel the tension leave your arms. Shoulders - Shrug your shoulders up to your ears for five seconds. Relax. Back - Arch your back off the floor for five seconds. Relax. Feel the anxiety and tension disappearing. Stomach - Tighten your stomach muscles for five seconds. Relax. Hips and buttocks - Tighten your hip and buttock muscles for five seconds. Relax. Thighs - Tighten your thigh muscles by pressing your legs together as tightly as you can for five seconds. Relax. Feet - Bend your ankles toward your body as far as you can for five seconds. Relax. Toes - Curl your toes as tightly as you can for five seconds. Relax. Step 4. Focus on any muscles which may still be tense. If any muscle remains tense, tighten and relax that specific muscle three or four times. Step 5. Fix the feeling of relaxation in your mind. Resolve to repeat the process again. source: amsa.org .Brianna. and lizzyjane101
.Brianna.
Right now I try to take a short yoga break - it's amazing what even a 10 minute session of quiet will do for you. If I have the time I also like going for a run :) When I was in college I channeled my stress into cleaning my dorm/apartment haha ^_^ Even if you've only got a minute, take some time to focus on your breathing - you'll be amazed at how much that helps! Good luck!
lizzyjane101
Also, a recent thing that my aunt suggested to help with my social anxiety is to think of smells, tastes, textures, and sounds that make you feel safe and calm. For me, these are things like the feel of cat fur, the cologne/ perfume of someone I like, the taste of hot chips, things like that. Don't know if you still need this thread, but I thought of you and figured I could share it anyway :) How's the de-stressing going?
leverhelven
I have some bookmarked links that really help me de-stress. Here they go: " raining.fm is one of quite a few ‘rain noise’ sites on the internet, and on this one you can set the levels! That is, you can make it rain loudly and thunder quietly, or both loudly, or go all out with a MASSIVE STORM OF DOOM or whatever. It’s really great to read to while lying in bed. You can set it to fade out after a certain period of time, too. coding.fm, meanwhile, is a site which lets you listen to people typing. There’s three modes, one of which is basically people punching the keyboard angrily, which is amusing. soundsleeping lets you make a ‘mix’ of up to five sounds at a time! There’s all sorts of stuff to pick from and you can choose which earphone it favours, etc. Some of the sounds aren’t the highest quality recordings ever, but it’s still pretty neat. coffitivity is one of my favourite ‘coffee shop’ ones. It’s just nice and simple. And not one of those ones where someone’s knocking a chair over every five seconds, which is always appreciated. simplynoise does white/pink/brown noise generation and allows for oscillation. White is best for sound masking, brown for sleep and pink for general relaxation. It also has a sleep timer for if you fall asleep to it. Great for tinnitus, which I get when I have bad hayfever sometimes. simplyrain, its sister site, is yet another rain site. It’s pretty high-quality in its recordings for a free site and has a mobile app (as, I think, simplynoise does). There’s pay-what-you-want downloads of the sounds for an iPod, too. It has oscillation, lets you fiddle around with thunder sounds, etc. rainycafe just plays both rain and coffeeshop noises together. I don’t think the rain loops, though? I may be wrong, my browser may have messed something up. Anyway, it’s neat. And stops me having to have a million tabs open to combine the two." That awesome list and the descriptions were taken from this awesome tumblr :) lizzyjane101
brynchilla
Step one: Find the nearest animal shelter with open rooms that you can go in to play with animals Step two: Go to nearest animal shelter Step three: Go into the room and let yourself be covered in tiny animals. Seriously. There's a cat shelter I go to, and they have a few open rooms that have cats in there. You walk in, and you're covered in cats. If you lie down, you are in danger of disapering under cats. And it feels amazing. There's so much love directed at you. "It's a person! Person! Person! Person! Pet meeeee!! Person! I love you person!" I also have the tendency to sleep if anything is wrong. Feeling sad? Sleep. Angry? Sleep? Sleepy... Sleep Screaming helps. Tell anyone close to you that you are going to scream, and then do so. As loudly as you can. Then, get mad. Punch your pillow. Throw it on the ground. Body slam it. Get the anger out (even if you don't have any). it feels great. Edit: Another way I like to de-stress is by watching youtube videos. So, I'm going to post a few of the channels that I love to watch, with a brief description of what they do. 1. Rosanna Pansino An adorable baker/chef. She is the creator of 'Nerdie Nummies', where each week she creates some food item (and occasionally a game with her sister) that it fandom themed. She's made the ACNL birthday cake, lumpy space princess lollies, wonder woman soup and a lot of other fun things. 2. RRcherrypie Coming in from Japan (I'm pretty sure it's Japan) is RRcherrypie! This youtube is sound relaxation, filled with lots of crinkles that make your ears tingle. The channel is made up of several different people, who show you how to make all those yummy little snacks from Japan as well as showing you various Re-ment collectibles. 3. FluffyMixer FluffyMixer is the home to Fluffle Puff, an adorable marshmallow (or something of the like) pony. Join in the adorable adventures with Chrysalis and the others of the MLP gang. 4. LetsPlay Of course, what would a list be without the Achievement Hunters? A sub channel of RoosterTeeth. On this channel, a group of very funny people play various games, including GTA, Minecraft and more. The videos always leave me laughing. Warning: there is usually always a LOT of swearing and there 5. Nigahiga Very funny things. Ranging from parodies to rants, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
