:)Doc
Okay, I am seriously wondering: Who misses the Double Round Robins (DRR) system? The Brackets are completely unfair to me and the DRR actually made a lot of sense. Opinions?

Yes, the DRR made sense, but honestly many peole quit halfway since its too long, maybe the SRR+Finals would work better. TNT partially fixed the brackets but the standings ere still twisted. :)Doc

hrtbrk
Sadly, the format doesn't mean much when giant teams group up like that. Of course the DRR was nice for smaller teams, but I doubt it would leave much suspense to who will be the top two teams at the end of the tournament. :( Lady Lyuba
Popular Post Xepha
Having a proper plot instead of Altador Cup would be even better. All teams gather in Altador 10 days before the competion, and they all start to feel sick. *suspense* Lydia Trebond, ~Ğǿǿmy~, Wildbreeze and 8 others

TNT doesn't do plots as much as they should. *hint hint* What is the double round robin? Never heard of it... DRR is where every team face every other team, twice. Id rather have an AC anyday than that obelisk :sick01: I liked double round robin. It puts teams in the playoffs in proper positions rather than one team player all smaller teams. :)Doc and Lady Lyuba

The Obelisk WAR was more of an event to introduce a permanent site feature and boost the use of the Battledome. Wildbreeze

Sorry for the late reply I havent been on in a while but the original Obelisk War (original which sway won) was considered a plot. Also a large portion of the players including myself wouldve left the site long ago if the AC was canceled. :)Doc
lovedwallflower
All teams gather in Altador 10 days before the competion, and they all start to feel sick. *suspense* Love this idea! I really enjoy the AC but it would make a nice change to have a plot-driven plot (and by that I mean something with a good story line). Anyway, as things stand I'd rather the DRR as well. Brackets seemed to make things more based on luck than skill and that takes the fun out of it
Desertfreak
Well im back for AC IX and i'm begging for any round robin again! Seriously sick of brackets, Going back to the suspense part of the thread, The finals were exciting for me because I had no clue who was going to win! (AC V was my favortie :P) I hope to get that back!
Lady Lyuba
I miss the DRR too, but I doubt TNT is ever gonna bring it back. I think the bracket system is permanent. :sad02: Do not want, and if they must shorten the tournament, please just use a SRR instead. Anything but this bracket system. Hopefully within another few years, the system will change once again to a new format....but we may never get the DRR back or even get the SRR. Guest Sabs
My team really struggled last year because of the Bracket system. It doesn't seem fair. A lot of people didn't like it on the boards when it was introduced, so I hope Neopets paid attention to that. Nonetheless, I am still excited for the AC. My fingers are ready to go crazy with the games. lol

AgJu
i actually wouldn't mind this bracket system if it worked in a fairer manner. Like last season, Terror Mountain really went on a tear (no pun intended) for a while but due to the way things are set up, we still languished in the bottom/middle of the brackets for much of the tournament and finished in a tie for 7th despite having the fourth best record in the league. I feel like, the BRACKETS should be handled like a SRR....it's based on win/loss record within that bracket and when new brackets are formed, results are reset so that teams who did well in previous brackets don't just automatically sit on top in future brackets. Maybe the final brackets could be a DRR and they are shuffled in such a way that the top 6 teams (with the best overall records, not best point totals per the TM reason i already stated) are in the same bracket battling for spots 1-6, the next six teams in a bracket battling for 7-12 and the bottom six teams in a bracket battling for 13-18. I think this would allow for a bit more suspense because of the way brackets are randomly shuffled....it could give a chance to fledgling teams like HW or BV to get a good draw or two somewhere and possibly contend for a podium spot (or at least a better finish than they generally get) and a chance for more glory. It could even help past strong contenders like Shenkuu and Lost Desert get back up there.
