Have you considered going for a massage? It might help alleviate some of the pain. I had horrible lower back pain when I was pregnant with my second child to the point where I could barely move. I went for a massage and after 30 minutes all the pain was relieved. I'd also suggest seeing a Chiropractor if you can. The good ones can pinpoint your problem areas and relieve pinched nerves as well as realigning your joints. Sometimes with back pain a doctor needs to be seen to rule out an injury or any underlying cause. You could also try a TENS device. My husband uses one called Dr. Ho's and it's helped him tremendously. They can be a bit expensive though, but at least it's not a one time thing.
 
I'd suggest trying to get into a free clinic like you mentioned, even if the wait is two months. At least it'll be something to help figure out why you're in so much pain. To help manage your pain you can do what's called piggybacking pain relievers. Always follow the labels and discuss with a pharmacist before following what I'm about to say. I'm not a medical professional but this was the advice given to me by my baby's doctor. What you can do is take a dose of ibuprofen since it lasts longer, if before your next does you're not getting any relief take an acetaminophen dose. Make sure you wait at least 2 hours after the previous medication so you don't overlap it too much. Ibuprofen has a 6-8 hour lifespan, while acetaminophen only has a 4-6 hour life span in the body. For my daughter I followed this method while she had a throat infection a few months ago, and an ear infection recently. It helped her get the rest she needed and to play comfortably.
 
Ugh that is annoying! If it's that big of a deal for her then she should be the one to house the chair and not put the burden of all the belongings on her daughter and yourself.

Where to start? I'm Laevateinn (or just Lae for short), I'm 21 years of age, and I've had several accounts with Neopets since 2003. My current account is nearly a month old, so I've still got a lot to relearn, but so far I've managed to get two of my pets painted so I've gotta be doing something right! :P
 
I'm someone who likes drawing, roleplaying and writing. I'm actually doing a Creative Writing course at the moments so as you can imagine I have a fair old bit of experience under my belt! Besides Neopets, I also like Pokemon (particularly Ghost types), Digimon, World Cinema, Horror, Fairy Tales, the Earthbound series and many, many, MANY other things!
 
I am also a very proud owner of a cute little gerbil called Skip! ^_^

This guide can give you a description of what each boon does.

Here's a checklist to help the new Jumpstaff since they seem to be struggling with adding some finishing touches on news posts and events that happen on the site. To their credit, they are starting to become more comfortable and they have gotten better but there are still a few things that could be spruced up:
 
News
News is very important as it adds new content on the website on an (almost) regular basis. It is also very important to have the news page look as fancy and eye catching as possible. The news typically has scheduled releases for each day of the week... so here we go.
 
Monday: Monday usually holds a random new item, poem winner, a new Storytelling winner, pet spotlight winner and Customization contest winners. These three to four things are VERY easy to add into the news. As each contest (should) start anew on Monday, it is also very easy to advertise the winners/start of the new contests and have a complete news release for Monday.

If you are understaffed and cannot pick new winners for spotlights/storytelling/poems, at least announce the new Customization contest and their winners.

Tuesday: Tuesday usually announces either two new petpets, two new plushies or two new morphing potions. As you guess it, you also release the spotlight winners for Userlookup of the Week and possibly the Art gallery. Again, another easy day to have a full news release with minimal effort.

Wednesday: Shocker - two new items are usually released on Wednesdays (plushies, petpets, mps, stamps) and of course it's time to announce a brand new Better Than You competition as well as Site Spotlight, Caption Contest and PPL winner. Again. Easy.

Thursday: I believe Thursdays usually have a new mystery pic and new petpet spotlight. Possibly announce two new items if a pet day hasn't bumped them to another day of the week.

Friday: Again, usually two random items, announce the new beauty contest.

PET DAYS: I cannot begin to stress to you how important these are. Users literally wait 364 days for their favourite species day. DO. NOT. MESS. AROUND. WITH. THIS. The new colours MUST be ready. Don't tease a paint brush. Don't say they are coming and then announce it 5 days later. HAVE THEM READY ON THEIR PET DAY. Don't even begin to think otherwise. Have the preview images be 150 x 150. Not any bigger, not any smaller. Have them activated in the Rainbow Pool as soon as the news releases - not days, weeks or months later. Immediately. Remember, people wait an entire year for this specific day. Make it count because a lot of people are counting on you.

DO NOT PRIORITIZE ANNOUNCING THINGS ON FACEBOOK OVER ANNOUNCING THEM ON NEOPETS.COM. EVER. STOP DOING THAT.
 
EVENTS
When it comes to events, it will be very beneficial to put up a FAQ section somewhere. We understand the help/ticket system might not work at all times, but for the love of Neocola, put up a dang FAQ some place on the website, even your specific Neoboard. It will greatly cut down the amount of tickets you receive and event spam on your Facebook page.
 
Include things like:
how long the event will last (start and end dates) if there are bonus prizes for daily participation what we are required to do when prizes will be available and for how long after the event ends we are able to claim them Don't forget to change the marquees on the front page on the website. These are the first things that people will see when they visit and will want to check out. Make sure it is as up to date as possible because who wants to click on something thinking that it's new, only to find out it's 4 weeks old and no longer exists.
 
NC Mall events
The above still applies. Include retire dates and if there will be bonus prizes.

I think may be harder because of how long you've known the person (7-8+ years) and because the last 4 were the closest. Plus, whatever promises were made, may make the hurt more. Everybody grieves in his or her own way. Some think, "Hey, it's their loss." and they are able to move on quicker, but others may think, "What happened? Was it something I did or didn't do?" and it just takes longer for them to process it and get to a point where they can move on. Or if they spent most of their time with the other person, and now with them gone, it can feel lonelier, especially if you are still doing the same things. I'm not too great with advice and I have a bad habit of "putting my foot in my mouth" and on occasion have put both feet in my mouth, but now may be a good time to connect or reconnect with friends or make new ones or maybe find a new hobby or something different to occupy your time. Each day that passes, I believe, is a day closer to you getting back to your "old" (or new) self. How long will it take, I don't know, but that for you to decide in your own way and your own time. Remember, you are still human. I hope, and believe, you will someday find the happiness you are wanting/looking for.

I'm not sure exactly what happened, but I agree, I miss those days.
My mom used to drive me all the way to the mall to get Neopets plushies from Justice :) lol. And then to Barnes and Noble I think? For when the Neopets magazines were released that month. ; ~ ;
I'm hoping that with Jumpstart being a company that puts out video games, and stuff like that for kids, hopefully they'll have some sort of advertising tactic they're hoping to implement. Even if it very kid-friendly games for PC or consoles, I'm cool with that! Whatever brings positive attention to the site in my opinion. :) It would be very exciting to see an influx of newbies dazed and confused by the wonders of Neopia. *-*

Hi! I've been a member of TDN for, whew, a few years now, and I've just now gotten around to making a forum account, hah. I'm mippins (des1017 on NP), I'm 23 and have been playing Neopets for almost 14 years now. Sorta grown up with it. I'm kind of obsessed with collecting avatars, so that's my current project. Specifically, I'm going after the Rubbish avatar. I also collect plushies and petpets, thinking about collecting stamps, and I'm a big fan of the Altador Cup (Krawk Island!!).
 
Nice to meet you all. :) Not sure how active I'll be since I'm in grad school at the moment. Summer's on its way, though, so here's hoping.

Recently Jumpstart shared a new feature they have planned with TDN: Glitter pets!

Arriving soon at the NC Mall is the Glitter Paint Brush! This paint brush, when used, will add a layer of Glitter over your pet's existing paint job. For those who can't obtain NC, if you're lucky enough to be painting your pet at the same time as someone using a Glitter PB, you may end up with some Glitter on your pet as well! This layer of Glitter affects PB clothes as well as the pet itself, creating special Glitter clothes. Be very careful about which pet you decide to use it on, though, as if the pet changes color or species later, the Glitter will vanish!

To keep things fair, if a Glitter pet or clothes are pounded or transferred, the Glitter will go away, preventing people from trading NC effects for NP ones.

Jumpstart gifted us a few previews of what this special new PB will do, and they hope this paves the way to future NC-exclusive PB additions!

I've been playing Neopets for roughly 8 years (on and off) This is my third account and is a little over three years old. I am no where near as good as I probably should be:p I normally just lurk on these things and I'm not very great at being social. I make marbles, I love cats, and adore video games..

I wouldn't worry about it. Nobody has to know, but even if they do know, they can't discriminate you for gender or sexuality orientations. I'm pretty sure there must be laws in the US about it.

I'm very happy for you too. :D I also salute you for having the courage to tell your loved ones about this.
 
It definitely couldn't have been easy... this is a very commonly misunderstood topic. I haven't gone through anything similar personally, but I have a few close friends who are transgender/do not identify with their birth genders, so I can understand a bit of what you're going through.
 
I hope that your mom eventually understands that it isn't always "you're either a boy or a girl, gay or not gay, A or B." Gender (and arguably orientation) is a sliding scale; many people find themselves in between, or identifying with neither. For now, though, I'm very happy that she is accepting of your identity even if she doesn't fully understand it -- that's perhaps the most important thing of all.

For the longest time my mom didn't understand gender identity or preferences. She said "You're either a boy or a girl" and said something about how you're either gay or not gay.
 
I've been trying to tell her that I'm gender neutral and bisexual for a very long time and well, I finally did and she finally acted like a civil human being about it.

While I am still comfortable in a female body even though I lack a body shape I still lean towards having a more masculine mentality, personality and get along very well with guys. I've always idolized males rather than females and one time at school they wanted me to do a timeline of famous females in history when I really wasn't comfortable with doing one of females and wanted to do famous men in history.
 
I am worried though, that jobs won't hire me all because I identify with males better than females, but they don't have to know.
 
It took a lot for me to finally come out because I was very fearful of how my friends and mom would react to this.
