The deadline is officially Sunday, but because I usually don't really start putting up the round until after I had dinner Monday evening (CET), I accept any entry that gets in beforehand. It's just that I don't have a set time for posting the round, and I don't want to commit to any specific time on Monday. (I want to be free to create the thread on Monday morning, if that suits me better, so sending it on Monday is no guarantee it's still on time, but often enough, it will be.) The fact that a lot of us are in different time zones, already makes deadlines complicated enough. XD

I've been using Duoling to learn some Italian during lockdown (I started out with Russian, as I took a few Russian lessons during high school, but realised that I was mostly guessing my Duolingo answers, so I switched to a language that's a little more familiar to me). Reading the Harry Potter books in German is a great goal! I'm not just saying that - I used the Harry Potter books to learn/improve my English when I was a kid. I'd learned some English in school (I think I was around 10 when they started teaching us English), and we only dub movies/shows for children, everything else is subtitled, so I did pick up some English from just watching TV. But I was a huge Harry Potter fan, and had already read the first 2 or 3 books a couple of times, when I decided I wanted to read the English versions as well. (Part of this was motivated by me wanting the learn the "real names" of the characters, as most of the names had been translated as well - which makes sense, considering the names actually have meanings, but I still felt like their English names were their "real" names. XD) I started out with reading one page in English, and then reading that same page in Dutch, to see if I understood everything. I also kept a dictionary on hand for the words I couldn't figure out through context clues. I moved on to reading two pages at a time, then chapters, and by the time the 4th book came out, I didn't really need the Dutch version to understand the English one, but I still remember bringing both books with me on holiday, just in case. So yeah, I highly recommend reading them in German, even if you feel you haven't quite mastered the German language yet. Reading books you're already familiar with is a great way to improve your language skills!

Which things specifically aren't showing up? And is this related to the Charity Corner? (Otherwise this question should probably be in the Neopets Help section.) If it is related to CC, maybe you meant that things aren't showing up on the quick NP donation page? Because retired items won't be visible there, as they can't be donated. I think your stock will fill up again quite easily. I have the same "strategy", as in, I just throw everything I get in my SDB, and donate that stuff whenever the Charity Corner comes around again, and while I've noticed I've apparently gotten less points than previous years (because, to my surprise, I have 2 Gold trophies, so apparently I had over 10k points those years), I still have around 6k now, with only the stuff I saved from dailies. And I haven't been that good at keeping up with my dailies this year at all - often it's just been the bank and Trudy's, and that's it. XD So even without actively stocking up on stuff, it's still possible to hoard enough random things to get a few thousand points.

You definitely should! The contests are designed in such a way that anyone can enter. Technically, you don't even have to have a Neopets account (I mean, not sure what you'd be on doing on here then, but still ). That's one of the reasons why entries are made on Dress To Impress - all pets are available to customise on there. Also, when creating this thread, I totally had a tab open with the definition of 'kitschy' and had every intention of linking to it in my original post, but I guess I forgot. So thanks for posting & discussing its definitions!

We still have like 6 days of the event left though, right? It was supposed to run until the 24th, but they extended it until the 28th. At least, that's what it says on the news page (and on JellyNeo).

Welcome back! (From someone who's actually enjoying this year's Charity Corner.) As for avatars - I'd like to get as many as possible, but I'm not that good at most of the games, and I also missed out on a lot of events in my early years on Neo, so there's a fair few I'll never be able to get. And I've been pulling that Lever of Doom like crazy for years now, but no luck so far.

I was so excited to see an actual prize shop again, instead of the perks which I never really liked, but I just visited the neoboards, and whoa, the anger and disappointment there is overwhelming. Which, to be honest, is kind of confusing to me. I mean, sure, TNT messes up a lot of events, so I'm no stranger to those feelings, but the Charity Corner is an event which is known for having different formats, so I don't really understand why people were expecting it to be the same. (Or that the snowballs would continue to be worth so many points, to be honest. I kinda always expected them to nerf those. Pretty sure that TNT just never thought about how valuable + easy to get they were, before people started stocking up on them specifically for CC, and then they realised they'd never meant to make stocking up on valuable items this easy. XD) (Edit: I think CC is just the kind of event where you have to hope it suits you each time it comes around. I actually preferred the early versions, where only specific items could be donated. Much easier to keep track of. XD)
