I refresh multiple times until I get an idea of what the lowest price is, and then I beat that. Depending on how expensive the item is I might be 10np cheaper or I might be 100 cheaper, or even 1000 cheaper.... whatever it takes to get my name up at the top of the list without going too crazy. Most of the stuff I sell, I've gotten for free through some daily or battledome fight or whatever, I don't buy and resell many things. I figure I can afford to go low on the price because I'm making a profit no matter what. Then, if the item doesn't sell in a few days, I check again. If I find that the price has gone down, I adjust accordingly. If not, I assume it's just unpopular and let it sit.

Just something simple that I whipped together real fast. I kind of imagined her in an underwater city, located in a little air pocket somewhere (otherwise there couldn't be waterfalls, and I don't think Zafaras can breathe underwater xP).

The way I see it, if you're not hurting anyone or yourself, be who you want to be. This includes LGBTQ, furries, etc. I know people who are trans, people who don't identify strongly with either gender, and people who just like to bend the "rules" a little bit while still identifying with one or the other. When I was younger I didn't really "get" the trans thing, but finally it clicked for me that sex and gender are different things. I'm also convinced that you can't change someone's gender, no matter how hard you try. Look up David Reimer, if you're fuzzy on that. (Summary: Crazy doctor trying to prove his hypothesis convinces a family to raise their son as a daughter after a botched circumcision; it doesn't work.)

I'm pretty certain there's some physiological reason that you are whichever gender you are, we just haven't found it yet. A gene or set of genes, or something in the brain, there's some reason for it. A lot of the people I know who are transphobic feel like it's whatever your chromosomes are, whether you're XX or XY, but that can't be the case. There are men with complete androgen insensitivity, whose bodies don't recognize male hormones. Instead, they get female hormones from their mother in the womb, and usually no one knows they're not female until they don't start puberty. Despite having a Y chromosome, most of them grow up to be heterosexual females. There are documented cases of some who decide to make the change to being male, but most feel most comfortable as a woman. I challenge those transphobes to tell all of them that they have to transition to being a man because, genetically speaking, they are one. It's not that simple.

So, to reiterate: it's not harming anyone, it's not a "delusion", it's just the way they are, and the only harm is trying to force someone to be something they're not.

I'm similar. I dress feminine, I love jewelry, and I'm trying to learn how to do make-up other than basic eyeliner and mascara. I have a small girly voice, feminine figure, etc. For all intents and purposes, I identify as a heterosexual female and I'm secure with that. However, I play video games, most of my friends are guys, I don't mind crude humor or music, my boyfriend likes romantic comedies more than I do, etc. Apparently my communication style is more masculine, too. Heck, my boyfriend thought I was a guy when we first met online. My profile picture wasn't a picture of myself, my real name is androgynous (I go by Lucy on neopets, though, which is definitely feminine), and he just assumed I was male for a few weeks until someone said something that made him realize I wasn't. (After all, everyone on the internet is a guy until proven otherwise. xP) He was shocked. Even after that he's always treated me like one of the guys, which I don't mind. I don't think he truly saw me as a female until we met up for the first time.

Likewise, he has a lot of feminine traits while still being masculine in many ways. He wears an earring, he grooms his eyebrows and shaves a lot of his body hair, he takes a lot of pride in his appearance. He likes romantic comedies, and he doesn't mind girly singers like Vanessa Carlton or Carly Rae Jepson. But he's also into bodybuilding, loves a good poop joke, and listens to a lot of really crude music alongside the girly pop stuff. In high school, some of the other kids thought he was gay because he was abstinent, had a ton of female friends, and just didn't care to follow all the "rules" for being a guy. Family members have even asked him if he's gay, in the past. He's just very secure in his masculinity, to where he doesn't feel the need to be "masculine" in everything he does.

I think most of us, if you really look at it, have masculine and feminine traits. Most of us are more one than the other, but not always. It's a spectrum, just like sexuality is, and it's all about finding what part of it you feel most comfortable in.

You want to wear frilly things but were born with a dingdong? Go for it!

You want to die of heat stroke wear a fur suit because you feel like a dog? It's you're life.
My motto in life is, if it makes you happy and doesn't hurt anyone (including yourself), then go for it and forget what everyone has to say about it.

I have a lot of pets, but the one that would qualify as a best friend is Molly, my dog.

This was taken Halloween 2010, but she still looks the same. It's my favorite picture of her.

She loves to cuddle, and she can always tell when you're not feeling well and will spend more time with you. Animals really are special that way. I trust this dog more than I've trusted any other dog. I can put my face right up to her face and not worry about her freaking out or snapping at me like some dogs do when you invade their space. I've put socks on her, Halloween costumes (last year she was a bumblebee, but I don't have any good pics of that), and she's just the most patient dog ever who puts up with all my shenanigans.

Sometimes she's annoying, like when there's a thunderstorm (she's afraid of those), but on the whole she's just the best dog ever.

As much as I kinda *like* the AC, I don't *love* it, for exactly the reasons you guys described.

I like the opportunity to play for prizes and trophies, even if the odds of getting something good are kind of astronomical without playing constantly. I like something to break up my usual neopets routine and give me something new to do. However, yeah, you guys hit the nail on the head for why I don't love it.

I couldn't agree more. I really want to support my team and play a lot of games because I love Maraqua, but knowing that there's not a chance we'll win unless we're backed by an ASG group is really demotivating. It's not that I don't like to play if we won't win, but just knowing that what I'm doing doesn't really count for anything and the prizes are so difficult to acquire makes the cup even harder to have the will to participate in. It's a really good idea to change the games every year - or at least have several that are switched around from year to year to spice things up a little.

I also think that it shouldn't be a month long - young kids play this site and it's stopping them from going outside and enjoying their summers and getting sunshine! Two weeks, max.

agrinwithoutacat reacted to lovedwallflower in Reasons why I've had it with the AC
    1. Firstly, the number of all-star groups / cheat groups that band together and join one particular team is making the AC beyond ridiculous. The AC is now exclusively a competition between these groups and while playing to compete has its own joys, playing while knowing you have no chance of winning is frustrating to say the least. I mean, Faerieland is actually topping the chart right now for heaven's sake. With all due respect to fellow TDN members and guests who are genuine supporters of this team, we all know that the team is getting some type of external help. Why bother if it's going to be rigged anyway?

    2. The games are repetitious and boring. From year to year the format hardly changes - the brackets system made things worse instead of better, as I know that most of you agree. There should be new games every year, some type of achievement unlocking scheme, and generally something to look forward to every year. The same 4 games a bajillion times a day are hardly a motivation to anyone I know. If anything, people play DESPITE how boring this whole thing is.

    3. The prizes are insanely out of reach. I am not an All-Star player myself (mainly because of the reason above). But if I were, what would be the point if All Star doesn't even get me the highest prize possible? The fact that Double All-Star exists as a concept is understandable - yes some people will want to play their fingers to the bone - but I hardly think this should be a requirement to get the best prize once a player has supposedly maxed out. Does TDN really expect players to spend 8+ hours a day playing the same 4 games? The prize to effort ratio is highly out of balance and in this day and age, kids are NOT willing to do so much for so little.

Is there anything you guys are frustrated with? Please add!

WEEK 2 UPDATE: They're definitely getting real feathers! Now it's mostly just the head and neck that are still yellow. Look at those cute tailfeathers! Also, I swear they must be almost twice as big as they were when we got them. We had to expand their box into a little chicken condo, and they'll need more space soon.

The lantern is a nightlight type thing so they have light on the far side of the box (the light from the heat lamp doesn't go that far). I don't know that they need it, but I think it's because my mom wants to be sure they can reach the food/water at night.

Yay, I'm excited! Go Shenkuu! I don't know how much I'll get to play, with work and all, but most of my shifts in the coming week or so are short. Hopefully they don't stick me with 35-hour weeks after that or I won't have a lot of time. (Although I'd have a lot of money instead. Hmm...)

Does anyone know when the last day is? There are 18 teams, and each team plays each of the other teams, so I imagine it's 17 days, right? I want to make sure I can actually compete each day, because I'm going on vacation starting on the 25th and won't have my computer.

Well, not today but yesterday was my first day since hitting level 50 that I was able to leave my Habitarium running most of the day (I don't leave it going when I'm at work). I made 30K by doing almost nothing! I don't know how some people make close to 100K a day, I guess they leave it going a full 24 hours and mine was only going for about 12, but I'm still happy to be making so much by doing so little. Score!

Your nesters need to be placed on a nest so that they can make eggs. The eggs will be one of the three options, Nester, Soldier, and Worker. Your P3s die off every 7 days, sometimes less, if you do not take care of them well enough.

It is random and you cannot ask others to send you any eggs, you have to make them yourself.

My suggestion would be to have 3 nesters, one of each species, then then a few soldiers and a few workers.
The workers should always be getting wood, mud, or stone.
The nesters should always be nesting so that you can collect more eggs.
Make sure you upgrade your nests to the next levels when they become available.
