This year, I'm doing something a little different. Normally, I go as a vampyre. This year, I'm going to be a dark faerie. The dress is black instead of purple, but I bought purple gloves and purple cream makeup. I've got a black wig and wings as well. Do you think this will be a passable dark faerie?

I would say buy a small amount of candy and then keep it for treats for special occasions for yourself if no one shows. You don't want to have to tell kids you don't have any candy, even if you have to just give them a tiny bit each.

Bleach is my all-time can't-live-without-it favorite. I've been addicted to it from the start, and I'm really up the creek when it ends. I also love Attack on Titan, NCIS, and Royal Pains.

I'm going to only have my soldiers out, and let them be soldiers to the end.

Is it just me, or do you hold your breath waiting for Neopets to load? Every day when I log-on, I wonder if this is the day. Is this the day that the down time starts? No warning, just that 404 Error message.

Habi has been working for me all day (granted there was like a 3hour period where I wasn't on but it was still going on while I was gone. I came back to 10k worth of gems). I'm really having a bad day with neopets today. FC was a bust & I only got like 2k in dailies.... so my 60k that I've made today from Habi went straight into FC bets for tomorrow.
 
I'm terrified now that you guys are all "ITS HAPPENING!" because I noticed Habi's being absent from someone's profile today and I've run into the trades being cancelled as well. I did screenshot the other day (can't be too paranoid now can we?) but maybe I need to update them. I haven't done bank screenies for the day but let's hope that TNT is like "We will be shutting the website down at 5 PM NST" or something extremely specific. I've been trying to get in as much training on my cookies as possible. Not much else I can do about the lab ray or FQ ones. :/
 
Maybe someone should make a "Neopets Purge" board for us to all talk on when neo "goes dark"?

My favorite movie was Frozen, my favorite tv show was my little pony and I am currently watching nothing :)

I'm seriously stoked for this week. Two of my favorite movies are being re-released for their anniversaries.
 
Ghostbusters is back for its 30th anniversary. My fiance and I decided to go on Wednesday since it was more convenient for us.
 
Forrest Gump is also back for its 20th. I love Tom Hanks, and it's really hard not to love this movie. I never saw it in the theaters, so this will be a big deal for me.
 
Hopefully, I can get in a few more movies before my summer break from work ends.

As long as we're owning up to the whole height/weight/size thing, I may as well confess. I'm 5'1, and weigh 172. I'm a 1X in the Womens department, and a 16 or 18 in pants. I'm trying to lose weight, but I've made peace with myself that I'll never be a size 6. I can work towards a 12 or 14, and be happy with that.
 
Making peace with my size and body shape wasn't easy, but it made me happier.

I'm also a bit disappointed with the prizes, but then again, most of the time, it was just a click here and there, and answers were popping up all over the place... I was hoping for at least some kind of avatar saying "Official Palace Sleuth Genius" or something of that nature. A tiny part of me was hoping that the thieves ended up destroying the Lost Desert somehow and we got a revamp.
 
Still, Sandrea got a new book, and some wearables, and a cute toy, but I wish I could have done the NC part. I'm too broke to afford a loaf of bread right now, let alone NC. *sigh* That background looks gorgeous.

I *was* going to order pizza. I foolishly asked my fiance if he could have anything for dinner, what would it be? He told me he wanted my chicken fingers. Care to guess what's in my oven right now? lol After this afternoon, he deserves to get whatever he wants for dinner.

I agree with Xepha and Richard. The best way you can get better is to practice, practice, practice! Start out with easy recipes, and work your way up. Cakes can be very complicated, and any good chef will tell you that proper measurements are a must when baking. The first thing to ensure a good bake is to have the proper equipment. The basics in every baker's pantry should be the following (and anyone feel free to add more if I leave anything out): baking pans/cookie sheets and small variety sized baking pans. Try a square or a rectangle, or cupcake tins and bread loaf tins. All can be found at an affordable price at your local dollar store. Next, you need a good spatula and whisk, as well as a good frosting knife. You can worry about food coloring, pastry bags and tips later. You also should know that when baking, measuring cups and measuring spoons are your best friend! Get parchment paper and non-stick cooking spray to work with if you can.
 
In your pantry, flour is a must. A good sifter is also a must. Have some sugar on hand, regular and powdered. Have some pure extracts on hand. The one you will probably use the most is vanilla. Make sure it's the good stuff. The imitation kind can be tasted, and it's not good. Baking soda, baking powder, unsweetened cocoa, and a pinch of salt are also must haves. Sometimes you may need vegetable oil to put in a cake too.
 
In the fridge, butter, sometimes milk, and eggs are a must. If you have most of these things, then you can make a bunch of little things. Try simple cookie recipes or simple brownies to start off with. Try a good cornbread recipe! Take a look at the reviews of a recipe before using it. Also be sure to watch your oven. A timer is a great help. Start a log of what recipes you use, how you serve it, and what your family thought of it. Take a moment to talk with your family about the pros and cons of what you made. Ask for suggestions of improvement. That's the only real way you learn... by getting your hands dirty.
 
Don't be afraid to make things other than cakes and cookies. You can bake fruit, you can bake veggies, you can even bake meat. There's lots of room for practice!
 
Now, I absolutely hate the term criticism, and think there's nothing positive about it, but be open to new ideas and new ways to make something better. The best thing you can have as a baker (other than proper equipment) is self-confidence.
 
A scared baker makes scary things. Baking can be very intimidating, but as you get better, you'll eventually realize it's a breeze. So remember to keep your head up, have a bit of faith, and get cooking!
 
As a service though, be sure to clean up after yourself, as every baker knows... it's not baking if you don't sometimes make a mess! :D
