  1. I also beat the score and didn't get a trophy or the prize :(

On other discussion boards the consensus seems to be that you had to actually hit the jackpot while it was higher than the BTY score, rather than just getting a high enough payout.

@perduco mentioned 250 spins.  I've heard there's a max number of spins, is it 250? or is that just how many you played?

  2. I wanted a gold trophy for The Great Desert Race and I thought I'd share how it went in case anyone is interested.

I used the TDN guide for getting one player next to the exit and circling the other player back through the whirlwind and tug-o-war.

I started taking data at 1500 points and played to 2860 points.

    Results for 1360 points earned:

    30 loops total

Avg. time for 1 loop was 200 sec

Avg. points lost per loop was 11.5 points <--- so if you do a round and don't win the tug-o-war this is your loss or you gain 88.5 points with a win per round

My total game time start to finish was 4 hours.

Maybe this will help someone contemplating going for this trophy figure out if they have the time/inclination to do it.  I rate this game "Boring but doable!"

You can't let King Roothless fall asleep (hence why you're whacking him with a yo-yo), so you have to hit him about once every 5-10 seconds to keep him awake. You'll get a warning when he's about to fall asleep by him snoring (if you have sound on) and by an exclamation point flashing over his head.

Thanks!  That did the trick and I got 32 points :)

  4. I was happy  that Chadley's score was so low today.  A few years ago my sister showed me how to easily get 1000 NP for this game by getting to the start of level 4.  So this is actually a game I play most days.  After how much time and energy I put into beating Chadley yesterday I'm happy for the easy win today.

  5. I've been trying this game on and off all day.  I had to take the keyboard from my brother's computer and put it on my mom's computer, but I finally got it about 10 minutes ago!  My mom's computer is faster and my brother is the only one in the house with a keyboard where the arrow keys are full sized.  My laptop had the shift key too close to the up arrow and after I accidentally restarted the game a few times so I knew it wouldn't fly.  That, and an embarrassing amount of attempts finally got me Chadley's score and I submitted 479 :)

Now I'm going to be that much more determined not to miss out on the gold...

  6. I'll try that when I get back to it for the first few levels.  I'm not sure which level I got to, but I was really hustling by then but If I can boost my score a bit on the first ones maybe I can squeak by with a Chadley score.  I've beaten him every day so far so I don't want to give up now.  Especially on the weekend :)

  7. I've been trying all morning and have gotten to 398.  I took a break and got on the high-scores table for two other games though!  I'll be trying again in an hour or so.  I think I can do it if I can stay focused enough.

People have mentioned returning the red and blue to the left - why is that?  Don't you want to get them all in the vats?  I tried that and they showed up again.

  8. This game is so laggy for me I can't even get the ball down to the end of the lane :(

    EDIT (30 minutes later):

So I somehow managed to finish the first level by hitting the space bar, waiting 1 second and hitting it again without even seeing the meter move and get enough score to get to the second level.  On the second level I lucked out and switched the speed-up and slow-down lanes (lucky!) so I only had to make it to the power lane to get speeded up enough to hit the pins.  After that level there were enough speed lanes that I was able to get a few strikes in a row and make the score!  It never did get less laggy, I would still just hit space bar pause a second and hit it again.  I ended up with a score of 712 with a previous score of 18.

  9. My previous score was 83 which is exactly Abby's score for today.  So I figured it wouldn't take much to beat Chadley.  I lost twice at right around 95 points, but then I re-read the guide and used the extra life on my third try.  Worked like a charm!  I got to 114 points so now I'm 9/9 with Chadley this year :)
