With not a penny in their name the one sales his pocket watch to buy a brush set and the other sells their locks of hair to purchase a chain for the pocket watch. When they meet again they see the irony of the gifts and yet it shows just how far they would go to gift to their love. ❤️ 

I thought that might be it ... it's one of my favorite stories as well ... i guess it's told in the same manner everywhere
I also like the story of the Father who could only afford one apple , gifted it to his wife .. who in turn gifted it to her son , who gave it to his little sister , who went and gifted it back to the father ...

that's immediately what i thought of!

It's not a folk tale.  It is the short story "The Gift of the Magi", by American writer O. Henry.  Always a favorite.

I just got caught by newtgirlbutgotbetter who has hijacked a trade thread by a very similar named user. They are accepting trades from the original user by neomail and taking the GBC’s, but obviously not then sending the goods.
I have reported the user but be careful!

EDIT: The real user is newtgrlbutigotbetter and is a perfectly legit account. Just make sure you check the UN... unlike me!

I hit my savings goal at just the moment to realise that the Woodland Paint Brush had decreased in value from 1.8 million last I checked to 1.4 million!!
I'm just debating over a petpet now... I like the Woodland Rock, but Rock's are extortionately priced!! More affordable options would be the Woodland Juma, Mibli or Ukalie...

One of my biggest motivators though is being able to read in the language I am trying to learn - once I'm more confident, I'm going to start with Harry Potter in German as I know that book inside and out already!! My party trick as a teenager was to be able to recite the first three pages from memory. I could get to five pages just about, but nobody ever stood still to listen for that long!!
