Nellethiel reacted to NixtheWatcher in Get out there! The Altador Games Begin!
Welcome everyone, young and old, to the The Daily Neopets' Coverage of the Altador Cup. I'm Miko, and let's get it started!

The Altador Cup is back for it's eleventh iteration, and this year is shaping out to be just as exciting as the last 10 years! Eighteen teams from all across Neopia duke it out in the great game of Yooyuball! The prize of the game remains the same - the title of Altador Champions and ownership of the coveted Altador Trophy! The next few weeks are bound to be filled with action and awe, so stick with The Daily Neopets for all the news and excitement.

Once again, the teams seems confident with the lineups as no major roster changes were reported. Names to watch out for are the Tyrannia Fossils and the Kreludor Moons, both teams having great standings in the cup last year. The Altador Suns are also an in a powerful position, gaining ground over the last few cups.

But the big match of the day is against last year's winners Kiko Lake and last year's losers Haunted Woods. The Zombies had quite the fall from first to last in AC X and are hungry to show that it was just a fluke. Likewise the Kikos as defending champions have much scrutiny on them, and a powerful title defense is expected from them.

Who will emerge from the crowd to claim the title this year? Will the Kikos defy odds once more and triumph over the Winner's Curse? Will the Suns continue their upwards rise and finally clinch the nomination? Will the old powerhouses get their act together to reclaim the title? Or will another underdog defy all odds and hand us another upset? Only time will tell, sports fans! This is Miko, signing off. Good night Neopia, and Let the Games Begin!

Nellethiel reacted to Midtime in Breaking: You Have Nice Shoes
Hello, hello, hello, and welcome back to The Daily Neopets' Altador Cup coverage! Brooke's back, baby, and limiting herself to one caffeinated beverage a day. For the safety of herself and others, and largely at the request of her superiors. Before we get on with the penultimate Alabriss bracket, I'd like to take a moment to thank my incredible fellow reporters for their continued patience, enthusiasm, and their shoes.

And now the moment you've all been waiting for. The Alabriss bracket results are in! The Lost Desert and Meridell took to the field for the second time this year. The Mummies didn't fare quite as well as they did the last time they came up against the Knights; this time the Knights managed to take two events rather than just the one. The Mummies took both Yooyuball and Slushie Slinger. Going into the final match, the Lost Desert is sitting just shy of the podium, and Meridell is tied for seventh. It's the moment of truth!

Next up on the roster was a match between Zombies and Minions. The Darigan Citadel was thrilled to snag a complete sweep after being swept themselves four times in a row. The Haunted Woods, however, have only been able to avoid being swept about a third of their matches this year. The Zombies are presently at the bottom of the standings; this is their last chance to save face. The Minions are currently holding the Maraquans off at ninth place.

In the last match of the bracket, the (very, very nearly) unbeatable Kikos took on the struggling Magmas and found themselves in a familiar position of sweeping victory. Kiko Lake just has to keep Kreludor off their backs for one more day, and they will claim the top of the podium for the first time in the history of the Cup. Moltara, however, will be endeavouring just to stay off the bottom.

And with that, I'll turn things over to Midtime for the Minitheus bracket. What's the haps, Midtime?

    [Camera pans to Midtime.]

Er, they're for staff to catch naps with in between broadcasting sessions. You'll find them in the second supply closet, underneath the stack of Spyder egg trays (at least until some one reorganises in there). The Spyder egg trays are there mainly to discourage staff from catching naps too often, as I understand it.

Ah, I always seem to go off-topic at the beginning of these sections. On to the Minitheus results! Here they are.

Maraqua opened the bracket's matches with a repeat of their earlier sweep against the Ninjas. The match was an absolute delight to watch - the Mermaids really did seem to be in top form, giving absolutely everything they had to score these last, most valuable points. As the Ninjas can unfortunately testify, however, no amount of effort can really guarantee victory; and despite having done their best, they have no victory yet to show for it this round. We may not have the chance to see one of Shenkuu's famous turnabouts this season.

Team Tyrannia, of course, overwhelmed the Pirates with large margins in all events; the prowess that earned them third place has not faded. As the final round approaches its end, Tyrannia fans are becoming increasingly enthusiastic. Fans gather regularly outside the Colosseum in flocks of brown and orange, holding night-long revels beneath glowing tarpaulins that ripple with the vibrations of ancestral rock-and-roll. I have sought interviews with them, but as I approached one of these gatherings, I was intercepted by an innocuous-seeming Neopet, who offered - no, who menaced me, I know it - with a bag of onion rings.

    [Midtime shudders.]

Gaining entrance will not be a simple task.

Now, in the most exciting match of the bracket, Team Virtupets just edged out the Natives on the pitch, scoring the goal that brought them to victory thanks only to a narrow dodge on the part of left forward Striker 3.8. This took place during the game's first fifteen minutes, making the remainder of the game a tense, hours-long battle for Virtupets' lead as the Natives slowly, painstakingly closed the score gap - too slow, alas, for them. (Attempts to reach Captain Volgoth for comments on his team's ultimately unsuccessful strategy met, unfortunately, with no success.) The audience gave Make Some Noise to the Robots as well, and the slushie contest settled at an even draw: with the Natives triumphant at least in the shootouts, the overall result of the match might well have been a draw as well, if not for that one fateful goal.

This concludes the Minitheus bracket. Here is Matt with our final batch of results!

    [Camera pans to Matt.]

Thanks Midtime, I'm glad to see that everyone is physically present for today's report, but as for their mental state...well that's another question that needs to be addressed. Let's not worry for now, I've been told by my supervisor that the situation is under control, as for now, let's head straight into the results from the Vaeolus Bracket.

The underdogs had a rough time in today's matches as they were dominated by their opponents. Altador and Faerieland were crushed by podium contender Kreludor and mid tier team Brightvale in today's match, respectively. While the match between the Faeries and the Wizards was closer in terms of scores, the results were inevitably the same. However, there is a slight glimmer of hope for the Suns in today's match. If they continue to perform like they did so today, they'll have a good chance to pick up a few victories.

Rounding out the Vaeolus Bracket we had upper tier teams Roo Island and Terror Mountain go head to head with each other. Both teams certainly proved today why they're recognized for their side game performances. Although the match may seem one-sided on paper, looking closely at the results the Rooligans came close to drawing in Make Some Noise and Shootout Showdown, short only by a single point. They were able to force the draw in Slushie Slinger, while the Chillers took Yooyuball.

Moving on, tomorrow marks the final day of gameplay, and spectators will not be disappointed by the amount of action! First up, Altador and Brightvale will be going head to head in the final day. Altador made a magnificent push against the Faeries the other day, and if they're able to repeat that performance, they'll have a good chance to end the fifth round on a high note.

In our next match, Krawk Island and Virtupets will be battling it out on the Yooyuball field, which will likely be the decider in today's match. The Pirates are predicted to win Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise while the Robots have the advantage in Shootout Showdown. Which team will be able to win in Yooyuball to give them the overall victory?

A close matchup between upper tiered teams Kreludor and Terror Mountain will be occurring today. Although the Chillers are mainly known for their side game performances, the Moons have the advantage in Make Some Noise and Shootout Showdown. The Chillers will need to focus and take Yooyuball and Slushie Slinger.

That wraps up our matches to watch! With only one final day of gameplay left, all teams will be looking to make their final push to solidify their position in the standings. Until then, this is Matt signing off.

Nellethiel reacted to Midtime in Matches Heat Up in Final Stretch; Slushie Prices Rise
Rise and shine, Cuppers! It's time for the report! Welcome back to The Daily Neopets' most excellent Altador Cup X report. This is Brooke, coming to you live from the studio and running on caffeine, sugar, and lots and lots of dreams. Alright! Round Five! Let's go!

The new Alabriss bracket lineup kicked off with a match between the Darigan Citadel and the Lost Desert. The Minions fought valiantly, as they usually do, but came up short against the superior skills of the Mummies. One would think the Citadel would be discouraged, starting things off with a sweep after closing the previous round with one as well, but the general merriment coming from their corner of the slushie tents suggested otherwise!

Moving on. The second matchup featured lower-tier team Moltara and last year's winners, Haunted Woods. The Zombies appear to be suffering from the so-called "winner's curse", which sees winning teams immediately plummet in the standings the following year, and today wasn't any particular exception to their current streak. After sweeping the Magmas in the last match of the fourth round, the Magmas bit back, taking a win in Slushie Slinger and a draw in Yooyuball.

In the last match of the bracket, Kiko Lake and Meridell went head-to-head. Annnnd the Kikos did what they do so very well and swept the Knights like so many dust bunnies under the bed. What else is new, really?

That wraps up the Alabracket! Hooray! I shall now turn things over to the magnificent Midtime!

[An impromptu musical number begins, and goes on for some minutes. Unfortunately, no one who participated has any coherent recollection of the event afterwards, save for a general agreement that the glockenspiel was absolutely heavenly.]

[It can be safely presumed that the song segued smoothly into Midtime's report.]

    - is fulfilled of the lively and liberated energy that characterises the Cup, that is communicated from person to person by every hand and every word, that fills us all up until we occasionally cannot help but let it pour from our lips. By this, I of course mean slushies. Now, let us commence with the results.

The Virtupets Robots seem not at all disheartened by their losses against Kreludor and Tyrannia, having leapt right back into the fray to snatch the next game out of the Mermaids' hands. The Mermaids rallied as best they could, but unfortunately only managed to draw in two of the side events; the Robots' Yooyuball win was supplemented - as all things should be - by a steady flow of triumphant slushies and sugary foods.

The Natives, too, have brought their best Yooyuball play to bear, leaving the Pirates high and dry with an exhilarating double score in the final minutes of the match. I pity the fan who didn't see that televised, and who is now watching this report to catch up on what they have missed, thus being a member of the majority group of our audience. On second thought - I actually thank you very much for your patronage, and think you are temperate and discerning. Ahem. This match was not a sweep, however: supporters of Krawk Island, undeterred by the direction the game was taking, gave all they had to bolster their team. They did not quite win back the match, but the fire of their fervour completely drowned out the cheers for the Natives, and forced a draw in the refreshments category.

Unlike the other two winners of this bracket, Team Tyrannia gave no quarter to the Ninjas, but began the round with another clean sweep. With the start of the new round, Tyrannia have stepped onto the podium at last; yet there are still four more matches in which they may be displaced. For Shenkuu, too, this is the final stretch - after the devastating losses they suffered in their previous bracket, will they be able to make a final push for success?

Instead of providing any answer for this perfectly fathomable question, I will direct you to Matt, who has the Vaeolus results. Matt, if you please - ?

[The feed cuts smartly to Matt.]

Thanks Midtime! Let's get straight into the results! The fifth round of the Altador Cup started out with yet another set of sweeps in the Vaeolus Bracket. The underdogs of the bracket, Faerieland and Altador were swept by Kreludor and Terror Mountain respectively. The Moons' consistent scores of 8's were too much for the Faeries to handle. With a three point gap in Yooyuball and a five to six point gap in the side games, the Faeries struggled in today's matchup. Hopefully the Faeries will be able to regain their composure, because the worst is far from over. Up against Terror Mountain, the Faeries are sure to have a difficult time once again.

The results from the match between Altador and Terror Mountain were a little closer, however, the Chillers were still able to walk away with a commanding sweep. Known for their side game prowess, the Chillers dominated all three side games, ending the match with an impressive eight point gap in Make Some Noise. However, that was partly due to the Sun's strategy of focusing all their efforts in Yooyuball. Unfortunately, that strategy failed as the Suns were just shy of making the match end in a draw. With a few more minutes, the Suns would've been sure to even up the score. As for today's matchup, the Suns are up against the Rooligans who are sure to give them a challenge.

In our last sweep of the bracket, Roo Island surprisingly took down Brightvale in today's match. Brightvale, who did very well during the fourth round, was helpless in today's match. The Rooligans asserted their dominance in the side games, and although the score in Yooyuball was close, it seems as if the Rooligans had control of this match from the very beginning! This is definitely not the same Brightvale team that we saw find great success in the fourth round. The Rooligans did well in buckling down in all aspects and getting revenge for their previous match at the start of the fourth round. Is this the start of a downhill spiral for the Wizards, especially as we near the end of the tournament? Or will the Wizards be able to overcome this hurdle and come back with even greater intensity?

Today's match between Maraqua and Mystery Island will certainly be one to watch! Although the Mermaids are predicted to have a slight advantage, anything goes as Yooyuball and Shootout Showdown will be a very close game, and will likely be decided by one or two points. The match between the Wizards and the Moons will also be very interesting! The Wizards have been performing very well in the last few days, and while the Moons are a podium contender this year, the Wizards might be able to pull off an upset. Will Brightvale be able to take Yooyuball from Kreludor? Find out in tomorrow's report!

That's all for now, this is Matt signing off.

Nellethiel got a reaction from voteforpedro333 in Brightvale Brings the Heat Against Kikos
It's time again, my friends, to review the results of today's matches at the Altador Cup! This is Brooke, reporting from the studio for The Daily Neopets. We've got another set of exciting results for you, served up with a smile. Or... you know, a smirk. Or whatever expression we slap on. Depends on the caffeine intake, really. Anyway, let's get on with the Alabriss bracket!

We kicked things off today with a match between Mummies and Pirates. The Lost Desert has been having quite a year, and today marked their first sweep of the round. Krawk Island are coming down off the high of their sweep yesterday against Faerieland. The Mummies are keeping a death grip on their spot on the podium, but the Fossils are right on their heels. We'll be watching with baited breath!

The second match of the bracket saw Meridell and Faerieland go head-to-head. The Knights were poised today to take their third sweep of the year, but the Faeries snuck up on them in the slushie tents. Metaphorically, of course! The Faeries forced a draw with their highest score of the day, robbing the Knights of the opportunity for a sweep.

The bracket finished off with a clash between the Chillers and the Natives. Terror Mountain is a force to be reckoned with on the Yooyuball field, but Teylor Nix and Volgoth, forwards for Mystery Island, gave them a run for their money. The match resulted in a draw. The resources of the Natives were spent, however, and the rest of the events went to the Chillers.

As Midtime is busy today, most likely increasing their already astoundingly large vocabulary, I'll be taking the Minitheus bracket as well. Onward!

Brooms abound in the Minitheus bracket today; every single match-up ended in a sweep! None of the results were received with much surprise, but we're reporting them anyway. So hold onto your dust bunnies, people!

Moltara went up against Kreludor to start things off, and got their backsides handed to them. The Moons nearly double the Magmas' scores in every event. The results of the match between Tyrannia and Haunted Woods were much the same. And in the match between Virtupets and Altador, the Suns' heat was no match for the Robots. Sweeps across the board.

So that's the first two brackets! The really interesting stuff is yet to come, however. I'll turn things over to Matt for the Vaeolus bracket and the matches to watch. Talk to me, Matt!

[Brooke claps Matt solidly on the shoulder, nearly knocking him from his chair. She quickly helps him right himself and apologizes. She then folds her hands demurely and looks expectantly at Matt.]

Thanks Brooke! I have the results from the Vaeolus Bracket with me right at this moment, so let's get started.

Despite their rough start in the fourth round, the Minions were able to gather themselves and pull off a clean sweep in today's match against the Ninjas. This marks the Minions' fifth sweep of the entire tournament, not as impressive this far into the tournament. Yooyuball, Slushie Slinger, and Shootout Showdown were very close in terms of scores. The Ninjas barely lost all three games, the final score only differing by one point. Shenkuu fought hard against the Minions, and they will need to continue to do so against the Wizards in today's match. Does this sweep mark the beginning of a winning run for the Minions? It'll be difficult for the Minions to capitalize on this momentum as they're up against the Mermaids, who are sure to give them a rough time. While we're on the topic of the Mermaids, they suffered a loss against Roo Island today as the Rooligans were able to pull off a side sweep. However, all was not lost for the Mermaids as they were able to come back and tie in Yooyuball, preventing a full sweep.

Moving on to our last matchup of the day, Kiko Lake and Brightvale went head to head against each other today. Like usual, the Kikos were able to cleanly sweep the Wizards, dominating in all the gam...

[Brooke leans over and whispers something into Matt's ear.]

What! Excuse me? Brightvale did what now?

[Matt shuffles his papers around and quickly gets rearranged.]

You'll have to excuse me as it seems Brightvale has done the impossible in today's match. The Wizards were definitely able to conjure up some magic on the yooyuball field today as they annihilated the Kikos! Brightvale is the first team to end the Kiko's winning streak which reached up to an impressive seventeen. To no surprise, the Kikos were able to side-sweep the Wizards; however, Brightvale has brightened up the Kikos' tournament records with a splash of red. The Wizards took advantage of the Kikos' weakness in Yooyuball and have proven to the rest of the teams that no one team is invincible. This loss will probably prompt the Kikos to be even more fierce in the upcoming days, but for now, fans and players of Brightvale will be celebrating this fantastic victory.

Moving onto our matches to watch, the underdogs of the Cup Altador and Moltara will be facing against each other for the first time in this year's Cup. Based on previous days' scores, the Magmas have a slight advantage and are predicted to take the overall victory. However, the Suns have been able to push successfully before. Will they be able to do so again in today's match? Brightvale and Shenkuu will also be going head to head today. Both teams are evenly matched on the yooyuball field, however, the Wizards have the advantage in the side games and should be able to pull off at least a side sweep, if not take the whole match. Shenkuu has done well in Slushie Slinger and Shootout Showdown before, can they pull off another upset?

For our final match to watch of this report, the battle between air and sea will commence in today's matchup between the Mermaids and the Minions. Maraqua is predicted to win Yooyuball and Make Some Noise while the Minions take Slushie Slinger. Based on previous scores, Shootout Showdown could go to either of the two teams. The Minions have to step up their game today or else they risk being defeated by the Mermaids.

That wraps up our report! Now, if you'll excuse me, I've been informed that I should save my appetite for tomorrow. I wonder what our staff has in store, maybe if I'm lucky I'll snag a few snacks from our break room. Anyways, that's it for us, this is Matt signing off!

Nellethiel reacted to Midtime in Natives Stop Magma Machinations Cold
Here we are again, Altador Cuppers, ready to explore the results of today's labours. I'm Brooke with The Daily Neopets, reporting live from our comfortable, air-conditioned studio. Today was the last day of round three; we're in the home stretch now! So as long as no more staffers go missing, and no one gets blown up or falls out of a tree or drinks a bad slushie, we'll be here to the end. Let's head right into the Alabriss bracket together, shall we?

The results of the match between Tyrannia and Meridell seemed all but a foregone conclusion as the teams took the field today. The frightening prospect of going up against the nearly-unbeatable Fossils for the second time this round did little to daunt the mighty Knights, however. They gave it their all, as they always do, but still came up short against a team that has taken no prisoners all season. After their second round in a row unbeaten, Tyrannia stands third in the standings; Lost Desert is close on their heels. Meridell is resting comfortably in sixth place; not a bad showing so far!

The Haunted Woods haven't managed a single Yooyuball win this year, but today they came tantalizingly close in their match against Roo Island. The Rooligans swept the Zombies, making their second sweep this round. They are now in seventh place, whereas the Zombies are sitting at the bottom of the standings, tied with Moltara. If they really work at it, they may be able to pull themselves out of the bottom and pass up Virtupets, or even Brightvale. Time will tell!

The last match of the round fell to Maraqua and Faerieland. The Faeries have been doing better than expected this year, pulling off some upsets against teams with much better records. Today their strength in Yooyuball paid off, as they bested the Mermaids on the field. Elon Hughlis rallied the troops, however, and Maraqua sideswept Faerieland. Maraqua has ended the round in tenth place; the Faeries are not far behind in thirteenth.

I'll turn things over to Midtime now for the Minitheus bracket. How are things going your way, Midtime?

[Midtime looks up, and clears their throat.]

Thank you, Brooke! Er, as we are both in the same studio I believe our total velocity should be very similar. Oh! Yes, the Minitheus bracket. Let me see to that.

The Mummies found the tide turned against them in their first encounter with the Kikos this season. No effort was spared, as always, in the Kikos' onslaught, and despite their most valiant exertions, Team Lost Desert could only somewhat lessen the margin by which they lost, and the match ended just as one-sidedly as all the rest of today's. Kiko Lake are by now the only team never to have lost a match this season, thanks in no small part to their own efforts; and in view of how steadily they have kept up this record, it may not be too early to say that they took home the Cup!

    [The reporter visibly freezes.]

Um - I apologise. Due to the function of grammatical tenses, it would, in fact, be too early to say that.

    Let us move on.

The Robots outdid themselves in spectacular fashion, executing an unforeseen sweep against a capable but unsuspecting Team Brightvale. While Virtupets have snatched their share of small triumphs over the course of the Cup, their performance today, according to commentators, was far beyond anything they have mustered so far, rivalling this year's most prominent contenders. Virtupets fans, in justifiably high spirits, managed to flood the news conference their idols held, forcing it to be cut short - unfortunately - before our interviewers could solicit a comment from team captain Keetra Deile. To compensate for this, we have instead sent a list of questions to Team Virtupets' official email address. If it has not been intercepted by their spam filter, we can expect it to be read and responded to as early as next year! Fortunately, our email practices are absolutely professional. I sent the questions a dozen times, just to be sure that they would be noticed.

Last in the bracket, Team Krawk Island's rematch with Altador ended in another sweep on the Pirates' side. Both teams may be able to say they have had a rough three rounds. For the Pirates, this is a valuable accomplishment, boosting them to eighth in the rankings - tied with the Minions. For the Suns, it is merely another in a long string of crushing defeats. It may be easy for fans to be demoralised by Altador's present record, but let us all remember that it is the spirit of the game that counts! The greatest motivator of all is revenge.

Er, I mean camaraderie. One of the two - I often forget.

This has been the Minitheus bracket. I will pass you on to Matt, now, who will stall until the Vaeolus results arrive.

    [Cut to Matt.]

Thanks Midtime! The results from the Vaeolus Bracket just came in, so let's get started right away!

Kreludor ended the third round with a bang as they brought out the brooms once again to blow away the Minions. Although the Minions came close to preventing a sweep in Slushie Slinger, they weren't able to make that final push to tie with the Moons. As a result, the Moons finish the third round on a high note. Currently second place overall, Kreludor will be looking to retain their podium position. On the other hand, the Minions will try to make a push to rise up from the middle of the pack.

The matchup between the underdogs of the bracket, Mystery Island and Moltara did not disappoint spectators today. Although the match ended in a sweep in the Natives' favor, the Magmas fought valiantly and had a close match in all of the games. With a score gap of only one point in all of the games, the Natives inched slightly ahead of the Magmas. If the Magmas focused on one or two games rather than spreading their energy to all four games, a different story might've occurred. However, the past is in the past and both teams will be looking ahead to round four as they try to redeem themselves and rise up from the lower brackets.

The final matchup between Terror Mountain and Shenkuu was also a rather close match. The Chillers were able to dominate Make Some Noise like usual, and with only two losses up to this point, it seems as if the Chillers' fanbase is bigger than ever this year. However, Yooyuball and the remaining two side games were a different story as the Ninjas were able to make a close push to close the score gap to one. In the end, the Chillers were able to finish the third round with a solid sweep. The Chillers have a good chance to make a run for the podium this year, but will they be able to keep this momentum up throughout the next two rounds?

That wraps up today's report! Tomorrow is a bye day so teams will be resting up, and so will we. We will return later with the results from the fourth round but for now, this is Matt signing off. Now if you'll excuse me, I think I'll be making my way back to the newsroom. I've had enough of the outdoors experience. Brooke, Midtime, I hope you'll both be delighted to hear that I'm returning to the studio! Until next time Neopians.

Nellethiel reacted to Midtime in Faerieland Felicity Makes Frisson Among Fans
Midtime's back! And if that isn't the most joyous greeting you've ever heard, I don't know what to tell you. Anyway, this is Brooke, reporting for The Daily Neopets, where we have the best comprehensive Altador Cup coverage, the most interesting disasters, and fabulous hair. Now quickly, before anything strange happens, (besides basically everything Midtime does ever), let's get the results out!

The Alabriss bracket started off with a fascinating match between Maraqua and Meridell. Both teams have been performing in consistent fashion all year, and it came as no surprise that the results were fairly well split. The Mermaids cheered the loudest and shot-out the show-downiest by a small margin, but the Knights slammed them on the Yooyuball field and at the slushie bar. Perhaps Maraqua will gain the encouragement they crave from their match with Faerieland tomorrow?

Fans of the Faeries were spotted rejoicing in the streets today following the epic success of their second match against the Zombies. For the first time all year, Faerieland took three of the four events. The Haunted Woods stole away their chance for a sweep by forcing a draw in Shootout Showdown, but the absence of red in the Faeries' results box was still cause for great celebration. The Zombies have come a long way from their championship win in the first Cup, but their determination is unflagging.

It looks like Tyrannia is poised to perform a complete sweep on another round. Today in their match against Roo Island, the Fossils were in top form, outstripping the Rooligans at every turn. A little disheartened by a devastating loss so soon after their sweep against Maraqua yesterday, the Rooligans shared a sympathy slushie or seven following the match.

That's it for the Alabracket! Let's turn things over to everyone's favourite eccentric, Midtime!

[The camera focuses on Midtime, who hurriedly hides a pencil which they have been using to doodle a detailed photorealistic picture on their prompt sheet. The picture is of a cephalopod wholly concealed in a cloud of black ink at the bottom of the ocean. It therefore resembles a solid square of thick black scribble lines.]

Thank you, Brooke! I apologise for my absence yesterday; I had to attend an unscheduled review session with my supervisor. On an unrelated note, though an important one, I feel that in view of the contents of a recent news report, it is my solemn duty to remind you that the use of dynamite or other industrial explosives is neither safe nor efficient nor recommended in any office conditions: it may easily result in bodily injury, death, or the loss of my - of one's job on grounds of gross irresponsibility, along with a severe reduction in future hiring prospects.

Now, to our regular content. The Minitheus bracket has seen some fascinating pushes from its underdog teams! Let's see what they have managed to do.

Lost Desert fans must have been somewhat surprised to find their team had come out of a match without either sweeping or being swept. The Mummies' match with Brightvale seemed quite one-sided from an outside perspective: the scoreboard favoured them by a factor of two, their fans all but deafened on-site reporters with their fervour, and their slushie mix was truly memorable (in this I speak from experience). But, as it turns out, Brightvale forward Kayn Hireck absolutely excelled in the shootouts, decisively claiming that section of the match for his team. Although the Mummies have proven themselves to be no pushovers, Hireck's performance has set a new record for the Wizards, and shown the world once again that every team has the potential to climb to the top.

The Krawk Island Pirates almost succumbed to the Robots' fierce new strategy, only reorganising in the final third of the game to make a comeback that just barely brought them to victory. Virtupets' exemplary play won them the shootouts, and their fans in turn dominated the stadium; despite having won the match overall, the Pirates would have been side-swept, if not for a draw in the slushie category. This has certainly been a match for both teams to remember.

Last, the Altador Suns put on a truly impressive showing today - or so I earnestly presume! Unfortunately for them, their opponents for the match were Kiko Lake.

These have been the Minitheus bracket results! I'll pass you on to Matt for the Vaeolus.

[Just before the camera switches to Matt, some one can be seen striding into view with a rolled-up newspaper in hand.]

Thank you, Midtime. Try not to blow anything up while I'm gone, I would like to have a studio to come back to when I return. Moving on, I have the results of the Vaeolus Bracket like usual so let's get right to it!

The Chillers and the Moons had their way with Moltara and Shenkuu respectively in today's matches as the frontrunners of the bracket dominated the underdogs, sweeping both teams with relative ease. Although the Magmas performed excellently in Yooyuball and Make Some Noise, it was not enough as the Chillers were able to shut the Magmas down. With the third round coming to a close very soon, both Kreludor and Terror Mountain will be hoping to lock down their bracket positions to prevent a last minute push from the Minions.

While we're on the topic of Darigan Citadel, their rematch against Mystery Island proved to be disasterous. The Minions were hoping for another sweep after the excellent results from the day before, however, the Natives were able to shatter the Minions' hopes with excellent victories in Yooyuball and Shootout Showdown. The Natives' yooyu-slinging skills were right on the mark today as they were able to defeat the Minions in a close match. The Minions were able to redeem themselves with victories in Slushie Slinger and Make Some Noise, but the Natives were able to celebrate today as they took the overall victory. Fans of the Natives were rejoicing today, and with a matchup against Moltara tomorrow, the Natives will be hoping to keep up this great momentum.

For our matches to watch! We have many rematches occurring today ranging from Altador and Krawk Island, Tyrannia and Meridell, to Shenkuu and Terror Mountain. Also, the matchup between underdog teams Mystery Island and Moltara will be a close one as both teams will be fighting to gain an advantage in today's match. The Natives are predicted to take the overall victory, but will the Magmas be able to rally together to defeat the Natives? For our last matchup of the day, spectators will be interested in the match between Lost Desert and Kiko Lake. The Mummies have the potential to end the Kikos' winning streak if they focus their efforts towards Yooyuball. Will the Mummies be able to finally put a stop to the Kikos' reign?

That wraps up today's daily report! This is Matt signing off.

We're very glad that you're reading and enjoying our reports! The writing of the report is indeed a task accomplished by several different people. You may notice that one of the reporters is called 'Midtime'; Brooke (Nellethiel on the forums) and Matt (xblade356, likewise) are the writers of their own sections. The majority of AC staff have significant writing experience, amateur or professional, and we all very much hope our writing is engaging and pleasant to read.

Discussing any of our personal exploits would be outside the scope of this topic; however, you are absolutely welcome to contact any of us by PM if you are still curious!

Aww this is so cool! You really have a knack for this! Your disclaimer mentions that "the opinions" come from a few different people, but was the writing a group effort? Your profile says you're a writer, and I wonder if you have any shorts out and about that can be read. Maybe some bits of Nanowrimo? (Now I need to go back and read the past ones. I'm barely following the Cup because the numbers just don't stick with me. This narrative view though, is much more interesting.)

Nellethiel got a reaction from Mouseykins in Moons Mash Mermaids; Matt Mishandles Midtime
Good day to you all, and welcome back to The Daily Neopets' coverage of this year's Altador Cup! This is Brooke, reporting from right here in our very own studio! Mostly because it would appear Matt got lonely and took to unlawfully detaining other members of staff to stave off the loneliness. Our boss thought he might be in need of.... supervision. So here I am, indoors, on what turned out to be a beautiful day. To babysit.

Brooke notices Matt looking at her with a rather... sad expression.

Oh! I mean... to help out? It's not that I don't enjoy the company of my fellow reporter! I just... I don't get out much. Anyway, I guess I'd better get on with the report... if I can dislodge my foot from my mouth! To the Alabriss Bracket!

Mermaids met Moons today as the last match of the round kicked off. Maraqua's scores across the board have been very consistent this week, and they were just no match for Kreludor's consistently higher scores. It's been an all-or-nothing sort of week for the Mermaids, as they've either swept or been swept every day. The Moons have pulled off a sweep every single day of round one, making them the top team of the bracket! Time will tell if Kreludor will be brought back to earth, or will continue to be out of this world!

In the next match, as the Lost Desert swept in like a bad sandstorm to defeat the Rooligans. It's been a mixed bag of results for Roo Island, whereas the Mummies have managed sweeps in four out of five days of play. It will be interesting to see what happens as they face stronger teams in the next round.

Lastly, but certainly not least, Krawk Island achieved their first sweep of the year against the Magmas, who have been shutout every single day so far. The Pirates have still managed to stay in the top half of the standings, but we all know how quickly things can change in the Altador Cup! Hopefully tomorrow's day off will give Moltara a chance to regroup for the next round.

Now, I was going to turn things over to Midtime, but he's been given the day off, as he seems to have spent several hours locked in a broom closet. Poor guy was last seen staggering down the hallway mumbling about the smell of cleanser. So I guess I'll handle the Minitheus bracket as well!

No one was particularly surprised by the results of the match between Virtupets and Faerieland, where the sweep seemed all but inevitable. The Faeries have been working their sparkling butts off to stay off the bottom, particularly in Yooyuball, but ultimately came up short against the Robots. Despite being a formidable force last year, the Robots have been struggling this year and are currently in the bottom third of the standings.

Next up, the light met the darkness as Altador took on the Darigan Citadel. The Minions have been doing very well this year, but they very nearly fumbled on the field today as the a bottom-tier team drew with them at Yooyuball. Darigan Citadel rallied, however, and swept the side events.

Finally, Meridell and Shenkuu went at it on the field and off, bringing mixed results in the final match of the round. The valiant Knights pulled off wins in both Yooyuball and Make Some Noise. The Ninjas are currently holding onto a position in the top half of the standings, but they only managed draws in their remaining two events against the Knights, who currently vie for the top position overall.

That wraps up the Minitheus bracket! It is my pleasure to hand things over to my patient and handsome, if a bit frightening, colleague. Take it away, Matt!

"Thanks Brooke! I'm glad there's somebody else in the studio with me today, I'm not as lonely anymore! My friend has escaped, however… but no worries, let's wrap up this report with the results from the Vaeolus Bracket.

"Diving straight into the first match, the Chillers were able to cause an uproar on the Yooyuball field today as Team Captain Prytariel was able to lead her team to victory against the Zombies. Although coming close to winning in Shootout Showdown, the Zombies were unable to prevent the Chillers from pulling out the brooms in today's match. We have received reports that all roads to Terror Mountain have been blocked due to an avalanche caused by fans celebrating the spectacular victory. How will I buy some delicious ice cream now? I mean… I hope everyone in the Terror Mountain area stays safe. This marks the second sweep for the Chillers within three days. With an upcoming bracket change right around the corner, how will the Chillers and the Zombies fare in their new brackets?

"Brightvale and Mystery Island clashed on the field today, and contrary to our expectations the Natives were able to take the overall win in today's matchup. It seems the Wizards were low on energy today as the Natives' offense scored goals with ease. The Wizards' fans were also less than motivational in Make Some Noise today with a score of one. The Natives were able to drown out the Wizards' fans in today's matchup, supporting Volgoth and his team as they scored goals taking the win in Yooyuball as well. All was not lost for the Wizards as they were able to rally together and cleanly obtain a win in Shootout Showdown, and forced officials to declare a draw in Slushie Slinger. The amount of excess slushies produced in this match was insane! Hopefully Brightvale will use this bye day to rest up and better prepare themselves for the challenges that lay ahead in their next bracket.

"The two powerhouses of the Vaeolus Bracket, Tyrannia and Kiko Lake once again faced off on the field. Kiko Lake cleanly swept the Fossils in all games today. The upcoming bracket changes will prove useful for the Fossils as they try to avoid being put in a bracket with the Kikos again. However, for Kiko Lake, all eyes will focus on them as many spectators are wondering if they'll be able to maintain this spectacular level of performance. As of this moment, the Kikos are the team to defeat in this Cup.

"There are no interesting matches to watch as today is a bye day! Many teams will be resting up and evaluating their performances to make improvements. With bracket changes around the corner, will Tyrannia finally get their time to shine? Will Kiko Lake continue to dominate in this Cup? These questions will be answered in the near future, but as for now, this is Matt reporting to you live from the studio along with my co-host for the day, Brooke, signing off."

Nellethiel got a reaction from tk421beth in Let the Games Begin! And May the Yooyus be Ever in Your Favour!
Greetings, citizens, and welcome to the madness! The tenth Altador Cup has begun, and we're here to bring you the comprehensive results. This is Brooke, reporting for The Daily Neopets. I'm coming to you from just outside the Yooyuball stadium, where it's been quite the first day! The fans are buzzing, and not just the Buzzes! All the competitors are starting fresh, and we're excited to bring you the results of their endeavours.

Let's get started with the Alabriss bracket, where the competition was fierce and the sweeps were plentiful.

The Lost Desert faced off with Moltara today in a series of heated matches that awed and impressed the spectators. The scores were close as the Mummies swept the Magmas, particularly in Make Some Noise, where they managed only a one-point victory. The gaps were only a smidge wider in the other three events, but ultimately the Mummies were the victors today.

In the next match-up of the bracket, it was Maraqua's turn to do the sweeping, defeating Krawk Island in all four events. The Mermaids beat the Pirates by decent margins in Shootout Showdown and Slushie Slinger, but found their victories in the other two games a little more hard-won. Elon Hughlis was spotted after the Yooyuball match buying a round of slushies for his team, and in his enthusiasm and jubilation, a round for Garven Hale's team as well. "So we lost," Garven told this reporter with a shrug. "But gosh, we had fun today!"

Roo Island took on Kreludor in the last pairing of the bracket, and were soundly swept under the table. The Rooligans held their own with consistent scores across the board, but they were overwhelmed by doubled or nearly doubled scores from the Moons. Kreludor excelled in all four games, but truly defied gravity with their excellent score in Shootout Showdown.

Now let's take a look at the Minitheus bracket, where things really start to get interesting!

Meridell and the Darigan Citadel went head-to-head today, and the results were close. The Knights squeaked out a victory on the Yooyuball field, as well as in Make Some Noise, but the Minions were able to turn the tables when it came to slinging frozen juicy goodness. In the final event, the teams were ultimately deadlocked, making it more of a Shootout Stalemate than a showdown.

Next up, Virtupets took on the mighty team from Shenkuu and found them to be a bigger challenge than they might have thought. The Robots pulled off a reasonable win on the Yooyuball field, but were shown the door in all the side games. The Ninjas were just a few steps ahead of their foes when it came down to it, but their wins are sure to encourage them as they face tomorrow's opponents.

In the last match of the bracket, two historically low-ranked teams duked it out with mixed results. Faerieland managed a win on the Yooyuball field and another in Shootout Showdown, whereas Altador's strength came shining through slinging slushies. But when it came to Make Some Noise, it looks like the Faeries' fans were equally as enthused as the Suns', resulting in a draw for the event.

Now, I'll turn things over to Matt, who will bring you the results of the Vaeolus bracket. Matt?

"Yes! Thank you Brooke! I'm sure the fans are overjoyed with the performance of all the teams today. Let's head straight into the results of the Vaeolus Bracket.

"Kiko Lake took the tournament by storm today as they were able to sweep two-time champion Haunted Woods. Kiko Lake's performance throughout the Cups have been steadily improving and with the scores the Kikos were able to produce in today's match, they are a serious contender for the Cup this year. As for the Zombies, they seem to be heavily affected by the "winner's curse". Haunted Woods will need to dig themselves out of the current slump they are in quickly if they are to have a chance at an upper tier finish this Cup.

"In our next match, another sweep occurred today as podium contender Tyrannia went head to head with the Natives today. Tyrannia was able to sweep the Natives today, with an exceptional performance in Make Some Noise. Team Captain Loryche was able to rile up the fans today to produce shattering scores. Cheers could even be heard a few stadiums down!

"Moving on to our final matchup of the day, the Brightvale Wizards against the Terror Mountain Chillers! The match ended in a near sweep in favor of the Chillers, however, the Wizards were able to hold their ground in Slushie Slinger, forcing a tie. The Chillers seem determined this year to become the team that they once were, and their match against Kiko Lake today will certainly test their resolve.

"That does it for the Vaeolus Bracket results! Let's find out which of the matches today are worth spectating!

"Darigan Citadel and Virtupets will be clashing it out on the Yooyuball field today. Both former champions are sure to provide unparalleled entertainment today! The results will be close for sure! Two-time champion Haunted Woods will face off against Mystery Island today. Suffering slightly from the "winner's curse", the Zombies are equally matched against the Natives, and a close outcome is expected.

"That wraps up our report today. Reporting to you live from the newsroom, on behalf of Brooke and our Altador Cup coverage staff, this is Matt signing off. We'll see you tomorrow, Neopians."

Recently Jumpstart shared a new feature they have planned with TDN: Glitter pets!

Arriving soon at the NC Mall is the Glitter Paint Brush! This paint brush, when used, will add a layer of Glitter over your pet's existing paint job. For those who can't obtain NC, if you're lucky enough to be painting your pet at the same time as someone using a Glitter PB, you may end up with some Glitter on your pet as well! This layer of Glitter affects PB clothes as well as the pet itself, creating special Glitter clothes. Be very careful about which pet you decide to use it on, though, as if the pet changes color or species later, the Glitter will vanish!

To keep things fair, if a Glitter pet or clothes are pounded or transferred, the Glitter will go away, preventing people from trading NC effects for NP ones.

Jumpstart gifted us a few previews of what this special new PB will do, and they hope this paves the way to future NC-exclusive PB additions!

What do you think of this new method of pet customization?

I've also kept my bags (from my main) in my SDB.
I don't think I've ever opened a bag, I have bags from every event that gave out bags just living in my SDB, just waiting to one day be sold.

Got a little party for my bugs....since it's their last night. Gave em a gazebo and lots of snacks, especially candy and bacon. Some still wish to work, but that's fine. They don't need to now...it's the end after all.

Personally, I've always experienced periods of lag. Especially the last few months. I don't think it particularly portends doom. :P Especially given that we have been assured that there will be adequate notice.

It's a big change, a little anxiety is reasonable. But let's not hurt ourselves or anything!
