I just got this item:

 Flask of Rainbow Fountain Water

Does anyone know what it does? I don't want to try it on my pets yet...

Looks like it will paint your pet a random color, according to Jellyneo. I'd personally sell it but maybe you feel like a bit of a gamble. It's going for 1.2 million on the trading post. Not sure what it does if your pet's species doesn't come in the color it picks.

I wonder, as it's such an old item, whether it can only change your pet to a colour that existed in June 2005. Depends on the mechanics behind it, I suppose.

if I got one of these I'd be tempted to try it, just out of curiousity, but considering the price I'd definitely sell it.

Sell it. Put the neopoints towards a color that you want. I can't possibly see how it would be worth the risk if it randomly gives you a color.

Do you have the Secret Laboratory Map yet? Sell it and put it towards that if you want to. At least that isn't a one time use, it can change your color/species until you're satisfied.

In my opinion, this is a terrible item. Chances are you're not gonna be satisfied with the result.
