leverhelven
Hey there! I couldn't help but notice a member of the forum being banned in the past hours. Which made me curious about one thing: What reasons can lead to being banned? I mean, I know the forum rules, and I know about warnings, but I'd like to know if banning is a result of excessive warnings or if you have do to something much more serious in order to be banned. I'm sorry, I'm really a curious cat, hope it doesn't kill me :P
Ruto
Bans are usually for more serious infractions, like something that would get you immediately iced on neo. Basically, if you're being at least a decent member of the forums, you have nothing to worry about. ;) Novelista, leverhelven, Clumsy rockyroad1 and 5 others
dawnshine
I read through the rules the other day and it said that you start at a certain score and each time you are warned or something occurs, your "score" goes down, and when your score gets to 0, you can be silenced. AJ11
Absoultely agree that TDN needs to have these rules in place and happy to respect them too, never seen anything here I didnt think was fair. Can I just clarify one thing please, would there always be some kind of warning and an opportunity to explain? Just for anyone whos a nervous ninny like me :sad02: cant imagine ever crossing a line that could get me banned but ........
Anime
Generally yes, we will give you warnings before anything more drastic, such as a silence or a ban. We rarely auto-ban people unless they're clearly trying to scam people or obviously promoting cheating, such as linking to an auto-buyer or something and encouraging people to use it. And usually those people do that right off the bat, and are gotten rid of quickly, as opposed to a general member who just made some mistakes and needs a little guidance. In other words, unless you're doing something obviously huge and and big time against the rules, we'll give you smaller warnings and talking-tos long before we'll ban you. And remember, if you're ever not sure about something, you can PM any of our staff for assistance. :) Lydia Trebond, leverhelven, Ruto and 3 others
Rune Valentine
Yeah, just to echo Ruto and Anime, as long as you don't blatantly disregard the rules (say, spam on 20 topics at once, post links to harmful sites, anything against Neopets rules), you will hear from us first before any other, harsher action is taken. Basically, a few mod edits here and there will likely not go anywhere if you've kept to the rules since your last infraction. But if you're spamming 20 1-word posts consecutively, double posting, Necro-ing threads from 2009, all in one day, we'll likely be more inclined to give you an official warning, suspend posting privileges, or ban you. We don't ban right away unless we think it's in the best interest of the community. We'd like to keep TDN safe and clean as much as we can :) Something bothering you? Need help with anything? Any and all staff members will be happy to help, no matter what their department is. If they can't help you, they'll find someone who can! We're all working together to keep TDN wonderful. ;) Anime, Xepha, leverhelven and 4 others
