Do you care about avvies?

What purpose do they hold for you? Why are they important?

 

Personally, I don't really care about avvies. So I just want to find out why they are so important to you guys...or not at all!

i like avvies because it's a challenge to obtain them ... especially the Game avvies ... it proves I actually worked hard on improving myself in a game - and that I don't suck :P

 

plus they look good and you can customize your siggy and your avvie according to your mood (not that I go to the Neoboards a lot , but still)

 

and ... they're just a collection which is nice to look at ...

I do because since there is hardly anything to do between plots, it gives me something to work for.

I'm not an avatar fanatic (hardly go on Neo anymore), but I like a few that I've gotten. They're stuff to work up to, for the most part. I was really thrilled when I got my Lenny Conundrum one, because I really like the LC.

I love avatars :) Not that they're particularly pretty or anything, but it's something to keep me occupied when I have those dull moments of not being able to sleep. Slowly working my way to achieving an avatar is something that'll keep me coming back to Neo - sad but true. It's a certain kind of compulsion for me, wanting to collect things. I can't help it! It's just the way I'm wired :P

 

Though most of the game avatars take tons of work and practice, which would seem very off-putting to those who don't play flash games a lot, so I can see why some people just can't be bothered to go for avs.

Personally, no. I got all the clickable avatars to make my account look more trustworthy, and then the rest have been obtained unintentionally or as a "Why not?" moment when they were available.

 

I don't think collecting avatars is a stupid idea, though. It's just another Neo-hobby, and a popular one too. I'm the same way I am with the BD, though; I just never really cared enough.

Me and Avatars? I'm pretty moderate with them, though I'm not a huge maniac for them (owns 224 avatars currently). Some are fun to collect, and others can be a challenge. Once you play hard for a flash game avatar or save up big on an expensive avatar, you should feel proud after doing such a tough process.

I love collecting avatars. I don't even go to the Neoboards, or really change my active one often, but I really enjoy it.

 

There's always a feeling of accomplishment when I've obtained a more difficult avatar, whether it's a game avatar or not. Plus, it give me things to work towards and I love improving my account, whether it's stamps, Neodeck, avatars, trophies, games played, etc. It keeps me busy and entertained, and it's fulfilling.

I collect avatars because I enjoy the challange of some of them, and they are collectable, pretty much they give me somthing to do on neo than just the dailies

I collect them because it makes me feel like I've accomplished something that's trackable (whenever I actually get one). I never even change mine, and I don't really look at the ones I have often, but I just like checking them off my list. :thumbsup:

Pretty much what everyone else here has stated. It's just fun to collect and a challenge -- one I'm capable of doing. Some of them don't appeal to me, like the NeoQuest ones because I just can't get into NeoQuest, or the Stamp ones, but I still try and collect as many as I can afford. Plus, it's fun to show off a special/rare avatar. :DD But beyond that, oddly enough, I don't care about collecting other things.

I love collecting avatars! Although I've gotten more into it as I've gotten older. I've always been one of those people who has to get all of the achievements in video games and that's what Avatars are like for me on Neopets. I have 200 and something, I would have way more but I've always been terrible and not dedicated enough to playing neopets games to get the game avvis so it's mostly avatars from plots or having certain coloured pets or items or something.

Avatars are just as important to me as stamps and cards are. I have a thing for collections.

 

Unforunately, my main is perma silenced. I still refuse to make a new main because I have retired avatars there, even if I can't even change my avatar. Which is ridiculous. I'm silenced, but can't change my avvy?

 

Oh well. My only hope for getting BGC, and the other higher avatars are to get full collat. DX

 

I just have a need to collect things. Including trophies as well. DX

I love collecting avatars! Even though I don't really have as many as I wish I could, I am slowly working on them. They give me a sense of purpose on neo and are one of the only things that keeps me coming back. Plus, when I've been working really hard to get a certain one, it feels awesome when I finally accomplish it! :D

I'm gonna go agasint the grain here and say I have absolutly zero intrest in avatar collecting. Just doesn't do it for me + I don't think in my 11 years on Neo, I've ever been on the boards once! lol!

 

My main Neopets hobby and the one that sucks up all my NP's is my gallery!

 

Everyone has their own Neo Hobby and I think it's great that some people love to work on avvies, but it's just not for me!

Enough to paint a buzz a colour and waste an FFQ, but not to buy some 1000000mil item.

I collect avatars and I adore it ^_^ I think I like it cause it gives me something to work towards, and I love collecting stuffs! Annoyed that so many of them are retired though ¬_¬

I'm really into collecting avatars because as others have mentioned- it gives me something to work for. Plus, once upon a time my best friend played neopets and it was sort of competition to see who could get the most avatars. Plus, it makes me feel awesome when I get a new one :)

I have the same reasons for collecting avvies that others have. They give me something to work towards and something to challenge myself with The random ones can be annoying but the game ones require some time and effort and it's such a good feeling when you do achieve one. I'm just a bit of a collector and hope to work on my stamp album as well as avvies once I've hit some other goals.

Avatars? Eh....they're ok. I often don't see what the big deal as and find it a little annoying that eveyone has to have ALL the avatars. I guess it's like earning an achievement, but I don't really go on the Neoborads, nor do I see why you need to have them all when you can't view your collection anyway, or other people's, for that matter.

 

If there are easy avatars or seasonal ones, sure, I'll go for those, but nothing involving certain pets or expensive items like the Chokato (TCG). I'm more interested in games, the pets, and customisation, and all the creative sides of the game. I often feel that I don't need avatars - my current one has been that Disco Aisha since - I don't know...Aisha Day? I seldom change my avatar there.

 

To me, it feels like a lot of players think "Avatars are number one priority, I care more about avatars that I do my pets." And everyone around me is an avatar collector. I'm the only one who would go to Kelp to actually feed my pets, just for the experience, and not worry about the avatar at all, I HATE the Wheel of Extravagance, I'm not wasting 100k on getting nothing. And, yes, I have a Jetsam, no, I don't plan on lending her. And yes, she may be pink in the future, I'm sure I'll get a lot of "OMG SHE'S WORTH 2 AVVIES! CAN U LET ME BORROW UR NE0PET? I PROM1SE I'LL GIVE HER BACK ANDblahblahblahblah". I don't know, maybe I'm scared of losing her. I know about the ALP here, I don't know if that's something I want to do with Rapira or not, but at the moment, no thanks.

 

So many pet species and colours keep getting pounded by greedy players who only want the avatar from them. It's so sad.

 

So, no, I don't even try, often I just forget about avatars completely until I get one from doing something. Often, it's unintensional, or a "Easy, I'll go ahead and get this one, why not?" I mostly feel the same way about avatars as GuardianAwesome does. All that I said may sound like I'm against them and the collectors, which I'm not..I'm just not interested. I'm a weird player. But my pets are what comes first for me.

The number #1 aspect to avatars is to collect an impressive number, you have to be good at virtually every aspect of the site, from writing to playing games to feeding kads to everything else. It's what proves a well-rounded player more than anything else.

I've always meant to look into getting avatars more, but I've never got around to it. Like many things on Neopets I think it's cool if I happen to get it, but I won't go out of my way. I only play Neopets for the fun I have, so I feel no need to do anything with the intention of being the best or impressing anyone.

 

Saying that, I can see why others would want to and if that what makes people happy I'm all for it. :)
