I think Keomi is so cute, her little neck scarf! You can def make a comic if that's what you want to do, and can even start just make a short strip, 4 panels like in a newspaper! Just enjoy! If you prefer just drawing characters, do that!

these are so cute! there's something so nostalgic about digital art with bold colors and black outlines, plus the inherent nostalgia of neopets. love!

For me it's cooking for myself, for sure. Sometimes it sucks to be hungry and tired and still have to make something, but sitting down to my own food feels like the ultimate self-care. It's like a, "Thanks for looking after me, Body! Here's your reward." Feels like the food is almost more nourishing that way haha

Hmmmmm if it's specifically a Halloween thing they might have been talking about the Trick or Treat Bags. They're basically Halloween-themed capsules you collect by visiting different shops and locations. There was an announcement post on TDN from the news people about it, but I'll also put the link to the JellyNeo page about it that'll explain more and give the locations where you can collect them:

It's kind of a pain, but if it's not too much trouble you could also take a photo or video from your phone of your computer screen, then either upload it from your phone here or text/email it to your computer to upload.

I second installing an ad-blocker, maybe a different one from the past one you use that caused issues, but totally understood if you're not comfy with that. If you use Chrome, it's super easy and as long as you keep it up to date it should work well, or de-install/re-install when you have issues.

The second round of tutorial quests is interesting. I'm glad I have a new pet that I hadn't assigned a petpet to yet, it would've been frustrating to debate whether to remove and re-add a longstanding petpet or just skip the quest...

Haha you def caught on to which forums I was talking about, it's so intense there, esp around Festival Festival, it just doesn't feel nice. I really do hope more people join here, or both! It should be encouraging to talk to people playing and loving the same game as you, not stressful.

Hi! Just wanted to see how everyone's been feeling about the recycling part of Faerie Festival now that Day 1 is over! Is anyone liking the event? People seem to have really strong opinions on a lot of these, and I'm more curious than truly opinionated. It definitely doesn't feel like anything is black-and-white fair or unfair.

My thoughts:

1. Donation limits - fairer for newbies/unfair to loyal players? Unfair to both?

For me, upping the donation limit from 10 to 30 seemed better at first, as it felt like I could use up more of the garbage in my SDB and fairer for the people who've been prepping BUT now I feel like it's barely a dent in most prepper's stashes AND it's increased the demand for higher rarity items even more. Inflation right now is so wild. How did they not see that coming?? It's kind of felt like some of the more disappointing parts of Neopets culture are being rewarded - price-gouging, a desire to make money at the expense of others (though you could argue no one forcing anyone to spend 60k on an omelette,) just general focus on the exclusivity and treating Neopets the game as seriously as finance bros take real-world money...

2. Re-releases of older items in the event prize shop and Recycling Capsule - good for the spirit of the game or bad for the spirit of capitalism (lol) ?

On the other hand, seeing the divide in people's reactions to the Recycling Capsules and both prize pools offering previously extremely elusive/all-but-gone/gone items to players has been fun. We're seeing a reintroduction of a small supply of those items, making it possible for a lot of people to more democratically get their dream items or maybe resources that would've taken them a long time to acquire otherwise. Plus, especially with random items from the Recycling Capsules - the prices may lower temporarily, but they'll probably eventually go up again. I think the more we move towards people buying things in Neopets for fun v. hoarding and selling to fund fun things v. collecting items they don't really want to wait for the prices to go up, the better!! I don't think there's any real wrong way to play Neopets, other than, like, blatantly stealing and ripping people off, so the fact that the Festival has brought up a lot of strong opinions has been really cool.

Overall, I really do appreciate the intentions behind re-releasing older, rarer items in the recent Neopets events. I've definitely felt the frustration of having to lower the asking price of an item I was hoping to sell for a certain amount of money because of a re-release, or of buying an expensive background that then drops the next week, but I think it's the right direction for the game to be moving in. It feels like one of the few good parts of all this!

The FFQs giving so many people their dream pets too!! And the people setting up donations when they get quests they don't need! Very adorable.

3. Older accounts in general - are features that reward those with older accounts unfair?

A lot of this re-sparked conversation around account ages. First, the whole idea that the donation limits were supposed to make it fairer to newbies - I think most felt it didn't really do that and it was a let down for people who were hoarding for years. Then, just in general, I didn't realize there was a big debate around whether some general features e.g. Food Club (bc of bet max being tied to account age) or Almost Abandoned Attic, unfairly reward people who have older accounts. I think some of that is complicated, a lot of people with older accounts have been loyal players and worked hard, but also some people had accounts stolen/lost or get accounts reinstated but all their assets are gone. I think it's nice to be rewarded for sticking around, and that feels like a normal part of a lot of online games, but hopefully it's not so discouraging that people try to pick Neopets back up but find it AND SOME PARTS OF THE COMMUNITY (not TDN!) gatekeep-y.

4. Jhudora v. Illusen

Some people do seem upset that Jhudora's side has "worse" (mostly interpreted by me as items that will get less money on the resale market/lesser value) items, do people agree/disagree/regret which side they picked? I picked Illusen because I've been really anxious lately lol and I just needed to see something cheery and heard Jhudora's side was a bit sad.

I feel like conversations on here always feel kinder and much more in good faith, so I'm excited to hear people's thoughts! Not trying to hate on anything or any one way to play Neopets, or say that wanting to make money here is bad, I want to make money to buy cute things too. And definitely not the most knowledgeable on all this, so I hope nothing I say came off as judgemental to any opinions you might hold on any of these topics!!

I think pandas and owls are the animal inspos for Vandagyres, but pandas are my favorite animal so I'd never be mad at another Neopet inspired by them. The albino panda that recently made the news made me think a star-nosed mole/panda hybrid would make the cutest Neopet.

Something else that might be cool would be something like a beaver or monotreme themed pet! like a platipus-esk looking creature O: could even be linked to something like the storm clouds on lutari island! Imagine some sort of semi-aquatic species that thrive in extreme environments, like the storm clouds that cover the area! the description on the page says "even the sea life seems to be staying away", but if a new neopet species were there, it could be they're partially scared of them as well, like some sort of carnivorous species. It'd also give the neopets team a reason to re-use lutari island, possibly even making a new plot centered around it O:

a different new species that would be cool would be something plant based, no real like, specific lore reason or idea for it, but it'd be really cool to see a plant neopet ^^

Sorry for rambling, but just thinking about new neopet species gave me cool ideas ^^

I think @ginnypearl's adorable ideas proved @granny63020 point that a member contest would be so fun. The people on here are so imaginative!

Today's daily puzzle made me think about whether Neopets would ever release a new species again! Vandagyres were introduced in 2014, the most recent new Neopet. I know there have been so many site changes since then, and so many beautiful, amazing other features. If they do make a new species, what do you think they'd look like?

The flower ears look sooooo lovely, I'm really enjoying all the elemental-y designs lately. I think the little wallet chain is so cute too. I imagine it's hard to design cute clothes for the Neopets with shorter torsos, but lI like these new ones!!

I love all designs but I can't help but feel like the ear ones, they don't work in the same dimension as the rest of the Grundo body? Like it makes the ears look flat and behind the rest of the head. The spiked ones are sick though, space punk rock grundo is a vibe.

The chipmunk is scary, good scary? To be determined...

But I loooove the look of the tails! The alligator one is gorgeous, the insect-looking one too. They're all gorgeous. I don't always like the clothing items that are too realistic, but this was a great balance.
