I agree with the general consensus that a faerie quest cookie is the way to go. The training is pretty great, but you also open yourself up to more chances for a Fountain Faerie Quest. That's the most exciting aspect of it to me ;)

It's pretty common for dailies and links to become the slippery slope that leads you to chatting here, so welcome to TDN Forums! (and the next level of your neopets obsession! :P)

I think that the faerie quest fortune cookies are the most 'cost effective' cookies. You get stats added daily for 9 days and you have the chance of a Fountain Faerie Visit!

-The Magical Disgarded Blue Grundo Plushie of Prosperity
-Underwater fishing hole
-Forgotten Shore
-Healing Springs 
-and finally the Daily Puzzle.
 
then whatever goodies I got that I don't want I sell in my shop =3
 
If there's anything else like the Advent Calendar, Trudy's Slot Machine, etc, etc I will do those too, but mostly that is my Neopets schedule to a T.

Here's my list, I use TDN dailies, but I skip some: 
 
I always start with the Bank to collect my interests, then Giant Jelly and Omelette. Money Tree to get old rotten shoes/boots/sandals for my rubbish avatar. The shop of offers and shop till. Petpet Park (nice way to win NPs sometimes) and Anchor Management. Grave Danger, and I used to go to Apple Bobbing, but I stopped once I got the avatar. Tombola and Coltzan's Shrine, although lately i've been getting a lot of 'aww, nothing happened'  :shiftyeyes_anim: Sometimes Fruit Machine, and raaaarely Deadly Dice, since it's 5 am for me lmao. TDMBGPOP and Underwater Fishing (I WANT THOSE AVATARS!) Forgotten Shore for nice nps or morphing potions. Then I do the daily puzzle  I check the magma pool to know what's my time, and ugh I still don't know! And finally some games like Fashion Fever and Meerca Chase. That would be it. I stopped with the stocks since I never really earn a lot and the wheels when I have like 1000 nps in hand haha

I do everything that is free and takes 2 clicks or less.  Why?  Because I'm cheap and lazy.

I agree that the unique poses among species and colors in the unconverted artwork does give the pets a depth that are lacking in the customization versions. But, I think there is something to be said for the creativity that customization affords. I've seen some clever pet/name/clothing combinations around Neopia.

THANK YOU! I absolutely abhor Snape because he was a bully. He was nasty to the young children he was supposed to be teaching and mentoring. It was unwarranted, even in Harry's case. Harry had no control over the action of his parents. "He looks like his dad/reminds Snape of his mom" is not a reason to torment a child. Snape is a full grown man. He had no reason to act vindictively toward an eleven year old boy. But he didn't just stop with Harry. He was merciless toward Neville, and in the instance when Hermione's teeth were enlarged he didn't uphold the school rules like he should have, instead he was nasty toward her and claimed he "saw no difference". That is not an admirable individual. Being a strict but just professor would have in no way compromised his position as a double agent. It's just disgusting to me, and I wasn't convinced by his bid for redemption either. :/
 
I don't know that I would put Mrs. Malfoy in the same category as the others. I think she was calculating from the beginning as far as ensuring her son's safety, and I think that's admirable. I don't like that she enabled Lucius to do the things he did, but I don't believe for a moment that she was invested in the cause past putting on a front to keep Draco safe.

The place I see Gypsy most often used (unknowingly) as a slur...is when someone says they were 'gyped' (swindled, fooled, stolen from). The word is a DIRECT reference to gypsies and suggests that they are all conniving thieves.
 
People use 'gyped', 'jipped', 'gipped', alllll the time and don't even realize what the etymology of the word is.
 
But, yes, as with the Washington Redskins...I believe it is important to listen to the people involved (in that case, American Indians) when deciding what a descriptor means.
 
If Roma (the people most often referred to as gypsies) say that 'Gypsy' is insulting and derogatory...then in my book it is.
If American Indians feel that 'Redskins' is insulting and derogatory...then in my book it is.
 
Why should anyone else get to tell them what the word means or how it should make them feel?
 
It seems to me that using such words are harmful to them.
How hard is it to find other words to use that do not harm anyone?
Why do some get SOOOO bent out of shape when they are asked not to use words that harm others?

I am also a huge fan of Tyrannian pets, I think that is a severely under appreciated color for sure! Look at these buddies:
 

 

With customization and trading abound on Neopets, people seem to focus solely on a small group of pet colors while a multitude of colors are forgotten because they're not expensive enough to be cool. So I am wondering, what "low value" colors do you like? Do you like them as a whole, or just on a specific species?

What seems like a lack of creativity is in actuality the age of the paint brush. Faerie pets existed before customization and the pet conversion, so the colors that look 'cheap' or 'lazy' now were actually pretty unique at the time. Now that wings are a dime a dozen the novelty of converted Faeries has certainly worn off, but it's good to remember the evolution of the Neopets site before being critical.

I would say, however, that colors like dimensional and water that have come out more recently seem like a lack of creativity on the part of the artists, but even still there are people who have used those colors as a base in an amazing customization. So to each their own really does apply in this situation.

Oh my goodness, the woodland Tonu makes a lot more sense now that you've said "birch tree".

TNT specifically said the reason why they kept a few pets with the option of being converted is because the art was COMPLETELY different. A lot of the re-designs for the pets are the same colours/patterns, just with a standardized pose. Personally, I wish they had just converted everything so it would stop being an issue. I love being able to customize my pets (as do a ton of people. TNT converted the pets to include a feature users asked for) because I can make them as different and unique as I want to. Before, every coloured pet of the same species looked exactly the same. Now, you can have 500 Faerie Bruces, and each of them can look completely different. I agree some of the colour art isn't how I would do it myself, but if I don't like a colour, I'll simply choose another colour. If I want to look at the old art, I'll make it into a desktop background or something.
 
As for the hate on NC, remember Neopets needs to make money to pay for site upkeep. Their main sources of income come from Premium, Neocash, and the few ads around the site (which in themselves are far fewer than on a lot of free online games). Since NC is NEVER necessary to play the game and is only for extras that you DO NOT have to buy, they're not trying to "force" us into anything. Yes, the NC items can be better looking at times, but if I'm paying real money, I want my items to be a little nicer. Why would I pay for things when I could get them for free? There has to be some draw to create a demand. It's like that with every single online game that offers free and paying options, and Neopets has far less of a divide between the two than any other game site I've used.

I like most of the older Mutants, they were simple but got across what they needed to get across. The Lenny, Lupe (not the UC one, the converted looks nicer), Ixi, Gelert, Skeith, Mynci...those are amazing designs. I like the Mutant Acara...but I think it would be better suited as a whole different color...some sorta space demon. It doesn't look "mutant." As for the Poogle, it's awful. Looks like some sort of rock demon, and there's too much going on. Just because you slap a bunch of detail on something doesn't make it good. It doesn't have much depth to it. The Acara is much more simple and more pleasing to look at. In design, it's better to have a balance of detail and negative space for something that's more pleasing to the eye. That Poogle barely has any negative space where the eye can "rest." Wayyyy too busy.
 
Some of the newer Mutants are awesome though, like the Chomby. The Lutari is nice too but I think the shading is a little too much. But I think a lot of the newer ones go a little too overboard.
 
That's why some Maractite pets look better than others.
These are way too busy and look terrible:

I dunno what's going on with that Cybunny. The shading is so off and the head looks pasted on. The Kougra missed out on something creative, the artist should've made the stripes into the Maractite swirls instead of pasting the swirls over the stripes. Missed opportunity.
You can barely see the Skeith's arms.
 
Compared to a lot nicer looking Maractites:

Not nearly as busy, you can still make out the parts on the Neopet, and a nice balance of the darker base shade to the lighter swirls.
 
That's why I wish some of the TNT artists would stop thinking that an overload of detail = good, because it really doesn't.
