GillyTook Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Hm, sounds like the broom could be a potential, but I tend to fight the same guy (koi warrior until I can do the giant whale, haha) and the obelisk guys, so dunno if it'd be good. Might see what I can sell it for. Thanks OH! Also, I'm finally in the secret ninja school with Col_Mack! Woo hooooooo! I can finally sell all the tan codestones I get from the battledome. Not complaining... at least until I get to where she's taking 8 reds and 24 hours to train, hahaha. Aquamentis12 1 Quote

I never had one so I don't really know how sellable it is. But you never know, when the Void plot comes back, it MIGHT be of some use to you, or not. You're welcome First off, CONGRATS! I checked out Col_Mack's stats and they are growing nicely! You can sell the tan codestones, or you can visit the Techo Mountain volcano on Mystery Island and toss in the 10 random Tan Codestones it asks for to get a random Red Codestone in return. Depending on how the Red Codestone market changes once the plot starts up again, it might end up being cheaper to do that for some of your training needs. LOL Yeah, you really don't have to complain at all then. There are only 6 types of Red Codestones and the MAXIMUM training time caps out at 12 hours. Also, if you cancel a training session, you MUST wait a full 24 hours before you can train that pet again. Happy training! ^_^ Quote
GillyTook Posted March 31 Posted March 31 Oh, I didn't know the mountain took the time to train down. That's nice. It took me forever to get to a high enough level to start training there because I could never figure out the exact time I'd started training. Tsk. Isn't selling them the better bet? Besides that, I've got nearly 100 of each of the reds saved up (thank youuuuu, koi warrior!!!) so it'll take me a WHILE to go through them to need some of the others for plot training. Aquamentis12 1 Quote
Aquamentis12 Posted April 1 Author Posted April 1 The mountain doesn't reduce the training time, just asks for 10 tan codestones and spits out 1 random red stone. If you have that many red codestones you should be set for training for quite a while. But you might also be surprised at how quickly the training goes since you're on the 1 red stone training tier which only takes 4 hours per session. At least until you get to level 300 when the 2 red codestone tier begins, but it only goes up to 6 hours then. Still pretty quick. But sure, sell your tan codestones if you like. I'm just saying converting them to reds might prolong your training. See, I'm out of reds, have been for awhile, so either I use what I can from battle, or take a bit of time to go through my SDB and send some tan codestones into the volcano. Or, If I'm feeling like I don't want to mess with the volcano, I'll just buy the reds I need from the Shop wiz. And hope for a decent deal since I need 6 red stones per session. I'm in training daily, sometimes more than once a day, it adds up. lol Quote
GillyTook Posted April 7 Posted April 7 I... said that completely wrong. I don't know what I was thinking. Nice that the highest level school does not take as long at the highest levels as the one below it does. That said, I got a Skarl's Sword today from the weekly quests. Is that good to keep, or should I toss it in my shop? Aquamentis12 1 Quote

Is that good to keep, or should I toss it in my shop? It's ok. Skarls Sword is an epic tier weapon, and one of my absolute favorites of all time! Not only does it look awesome, but it's attack is 21-25 icons and it blocks ALL light. So it's just under Jhudora's Wand and SAP, but if you're going to sell it, I would recommend looking at auctions first, since they are all selling there or on the TP. Wouldn't want you to undersell it. Before it got into the weekly quest rotation, you could only buy them from other users for about 2,500,000,000 Neopoints. It was originally from a rare TCG code from the base set of the original Neopets IRL TCG booster packs. Quote
GillyTook Posted April 9 Posted April 9 Woooow. Jellyneo said it's currently at about 5 million NP. I wonder if I should keep it for a while until the prizes rotate again and hope the price goes up again. I could buy a fair few books with that kinda np. Aquamentis12 1 Quote

granny63020 Posted June 20 Posted June 20 OK I want to fight this King Skarl and I do but every time I start to fight with this one his starting points are 2800. It says the high is 1600. I have fought him 5 times. I beat him even though his start is 2800. I just don't want to fight with him starting at 2800 instead of the 1600 like it says. I don't know of any way to change it to 1600. Is it possible or do I just have to accept what they throw at me? I don't want to play on medium. So, I was just asking if you have any ideas on what to do about this. I am guessing I really can't do anything about it. The 5 times I have played him I have won so no loses against this challenge. LOL Only a matter of time before I do lose fighting him at starting 2800. Quote

Here's the breakdown of King Skarl's HP vs Difficulty and his equipment. Quote King Skarl Difficulty - HP -NP 200 - 350Hp - 200Np 600 - 1050Hp- 1200Np 1600- 2800Hp- 4800Np Weapons Skarls Sceptre Sand Blade Genie Orb Boom Stick Prismatic Mirror Skarls Amulet Rainbow Scorchstone Stone Hourglass I tend to fight Scordrax for getting NP. I know he can drop a rare drop, but the other stuff I get from the Cosmic Dome isn't very good, and right now I need Red Codestones, or something I can sell, so I still mainly battle Snowager on Easy for the prizes, and for NP I go after Scordrax. Scordrax has 1600hp on Mighty and the same NP payout as King Skarl on Mighty. So unless you're going after a specific item drop from King Skarl, you could switch to Scordrax for a shorter battle. With the max boosts, I can beat Scordrax in 2 rounds. Quote
granny63020 Posted June 23 Posted June 23 I battle in the Cosmic Zone. I play against all of them but don't like Primary Grundo Bot RZ894on hard. I never play on anything but the hardest difficulty. King Skarl & Scordrax both drop an album item That's the reason to play the King.. I got the one from Scordrax (2 times). Skarl I have played but I only want to album item. I was just going by the 1600 is says on the fight page. I don't know if that makes sense. I don't need NP's or items. I am only battling for the album items. Aquamentis12 1 Quote

I don't know why his HP number is different from his difficulty number. But TNT has pretty unfathomable reasons for much of what they do. Having them be the same WOULD be simpler and make more sense. Good luck getting the charm! I hope you get it soon! Quote

Even though it goes a LOT higher in some cases than the boost tiers our neopets get. Quote

lithiumkat Posted Monday at 12:28 PM Posted Monday at 12:28 PM A little birdie told me this was the place to go to really beef up your battledome set and have something good going on. Okay so lemme tell ya what I got going on currently. My main battledome pet is darkside_of_the_pink and her stats are: 120 hit points, 63 agility, 113 attack, and 69 defense. current equipment attached: turned tooth, pretty negg shield, cursed elixer of neovia, ridiculously heavy battle hammer, grenanna potion, amulet of the dark faerie, wand of ultranova, and palace guard sandals. If I'm honest I pretty much only use the shield, the turned tooth and the elixer of neovia. Oh, and my abilities are: Static Cling, Shade, Cranky, An Icicle, and Lens Flare. I'm hoping for some advice to beef things up. I have plenty of NP though I'm not super adept with trading post I'm willing to give er a shot as I'd really like to put together a nice set. Thanks in advance I really appreciate it, *Sarah* Quote
oceanblue5333 Posted Monday at 10:34 PM Posted Monday at 10:34 PM Hello Aquamentis12, I absolutely love this! I'm a relative noob when it comes to battling, just doing enough to get in and out quickly - while avoiding some of the higher level challengers. I would like to get up to a point that I can actually battle the highest levels. I've been slowly leveling up my pet to get better stats in Island Training. Below is what I currently have in my arsenal. I generally start with Varia and Wand while using lens flare, then f/u with Grapes of Wrath and either Turned tooth or Thunder sticks and use burrow ability. Defense is lacking for sure, but not sure what I would need to give up in that place. I am looking at getting a Leaded Elemental Vial and using in place of the Soup, but not sure if that is the best plan. Any advice would be welcome and appreciated!! Thank YOU! Quote

Thanks in advance I really appreciate it, *Sarah* Hi @lithiumkat, I'm glad the birds are chirping about this topic! Hopefully you'll find some of the information here useful. So, sounds like you've got a decent rookie battler for a battle pet. First off do you know what the boosts are as far as Strength and Defense go for training? If not, they are the numerical points where your strength and defense actually improve. For example, your strength is at 113. So your weapons will do 2.5 damage per icon that hits your opponent. Your defense is 69, so each icon that your pet blocks will protect you from 2 damage per icon. Between the boost points, or you can call the boost a multiplier, your attack and defense don't change in battle at all. I know, it's an ODD system they came up with. lol Here is a link to TDN's guide on Strength and Defense boosts. https://thedailyneopets.com/battledome/strength-defense-boosts Looking at it I see it needs some minor updating as TNT added 2 new boosts to it fairly recently. Here's what finishes off the strength and defence boost chart. 750 to 799 16 damage 800 to 849 17 damage 850+ 18 damage Once your get Strength and Defense to 850, there's little to no point to training them anymore. My pet's strength is currently over 4000 and he still does the same as as pet with 850 strength. Anyway, so you know what your attack and defense is per icon now, and by looking at that chart, you can also train and work your way towards getting to the next boost/multiplier for Strength and/or Defense. Some people don't worry much about defense, but I like a balanced build. You could go Strength and HP, then use full blockers too, but that can be a bit pricey as well. Especially some of the dual duties, weapons that can attack and defend at the same time. I'm putting your equipment breakdown and my recommendations behind a spoiler tag, to shorten the post's initial display length. Turned Tooth Can do 13-22 potential icons. KEEP THIS! Cursed Elixir of Neovia Attacks with 2 physical icons and heals 40HP once per battle. Decent heal, but, 2 icons attack is weak. You're only doing 5 damage if both get through. I'd suggest replacing it with a "Helm of Recovery" (No attack, heals 50hp). "Greater Healing Scroll" would work too, as it can now be super cheap as well from Volunteering at the hospital, Act 2 slots. Both should be REALLY cheap these days. Ridiculously Heavy Battle Hammer 9 icons, replace it. If you want MORE healing, and have several mil NP to burn. A "The Mystical Tablet" would have the same attack, plus full blocking of Dark and Physical Icons, plus a slight heal of 3-30hp each turn. A cheaper idea would be another "Turned Tooth", or "Hanso Charisma Charm", which has 10 attack and blocks 100% darkness. Grenanna Potion About 4 icons of air and 4 of dark. Replace it. For defense, if you need it, "Downsize!", it's relatively cheap and blocks 50% of ALL damage once per battle. Amulet of the Dark Faerie 2 dark attack, defends 1 icon each of Light and Dark. Ditch this! Wand of Ultranova Generates an Ultranova, which COULD be useful, but it wastes a turn doing that and can break forever. Sell it! Palace Guard Sandals Attacks with 4-6 physical icons, defends 3 earth icons. Too weak for you. Pretty Negg Shield Blocks 60% of Earth and Light, Reflects 20% of Earth and Light. Useful, but only if your opponent attacks with Earth and/or Light. The voids don't use much of either as I recall. You can keep it in your set if you like. So basically, this would leave you with 1 Turned Tooth, 1 Hanso Charisma Charm, 1 Pretty Negg Shield, Downsize!, either 1 Helm of Recovery or Greater Healing Scroll. Which means you have 3 empty slots to fill. If you want more defense, I can recommend some defensive items for each of the different icon types. I can also recommend some purely offensive weapons too. But I guess I'd like to know how many turns does it usually take you to defeat your opponents? And which opponent(s) do you fight most often? See, if I know at least whom you fight, then I can tailor the remaining 3 slots with items that will help you with that or those opponent(s). Otherwise, you could try a 2nd Turned Tooth, use both of them with Lens Flare on your first turn and hope you do enough damage to take down the opponent in 1-3 turns. I can recommend items you won't have to trade for that will help, but knowing who you're facing is pretty important. Also, if you want to know what to expect from the opponents, we have 1-player profiles for ALL of them here. https://thedailyneopets.com/battledome/secret-challengers Clicking on their weapons will tell you what each weapon does. I hope that helps a bit, when you answer my questions I'll be able to recommend more items for you. 7 hours ago, oceanblue5333 said: Hello Aquamentis12, I absolutely love this! Hi @oceanblue5333, A pretty decent set of stats there, not to mention your battle equipment is on par with an Elite set. (Gotta love the Elite Prizes in the Void prize shop. lol) Ok, so with your Strength boost/multiplier, you're doing 7.5 damage per icon that gets to your opponent. And defensively you are blocking 5.5 damage per icon blocked. Which is you surmised with your set, there's not much blocking to go on there. First off, your set is, like I said, pretty Elite. The Wand, Thunder Sticks, Grapes of Wrath and the Feel Better Soup is fine as a healer for now, 50% is good and it blocks ALL air icons on the turn it's used. Grapes of Wrath does a constant 24 icons of damage, while Wand of the Dark Faerie does 21-29 icons. So the wand averages SLIGHTLY more damage than the Grapes, so basically, they're about even in that regard. The Wand can reflect 75% of Light damage though, so if you're fighting a foe that uses Light, you definitely want to use The Wand. But that's assuming that they LIVE long enough too. lol If you use your Varia is the Bomb (25 icons) with either of those two, it'll be devastating. Looking at your set, you can get rid of Turned Tooth, and Void Blade. Unless you plan on fighting long-haul opponents that take more turns and have different icons than what your Grapes, Varia, or Wand has. Keep Illusens Staff in case you NEED it's 13.6-19 icons of Earth and Physical attack, or it's Dark Blocking Defense! Definitely keep your Thunder Sticks too! 16 icons of attack is still decent and it can help if you don't have something like a shield to use it if your opponent uses Physical, since Thunder Sticks block 100% of Physical icons on the turn they are used. If you want defensive weaponry, I can recommend some generically for each element, or I can tailor some to whatever opponent(s) you like to fight against. This is TDN's list of all secret opponents, old and new. https://thedailyneopets.com/battledome/secret-challengers Each profile has their HP, and complete arsenal for your perusal. So you can see what they have and I can recommend items to help you deal with those weapons of their's. Once I know whom you're fighting. Let me know and I'll see what I can do to help you further. granny63020 1 Quote

I am planning to add Varia is the Bomb to one of the other empty slots because I've got some help obtaining one of those and I've been wanting to add one and guess I'm still going to have to figure out what works best in the remaining two. It probably takes me a few turns (3 or 4 maybe?) to defeat an opponent with fairly close hit points to my own. I'm not usually tackling opponents whose hit points are far higher above mine (it never even occurred to me to try and do so) here lately my regular opponents are likely to be Grrarg at maybe a medium level difficulty, I haven't tried Tekkitu the witch doctor but I suppose with the hit points being so close I ought to. Looked like an opponent that might poison me though so I haven't tried that yet. I could probably swing Robo Grarrl or Advisor Broo though I haven't tried yet. I've been training rapidly lately so the opponents that match fairly well hp wise are different than they were a short time ago and prior to today I had mostly been fighting the special opponents for the Battledome faction event. I also fight the voidlings and the void battles and I have no problems getting through the one with 5 waves of smaller guys then the big worm but I think that's the most difficult one I've made an effort of. I try to keep my wins/losses record decent so I don't usually try and fight a battle I don't think I can relatively reasonably win. I was fighting the Giant Spectral Mutant Waelin a fair bit and I probably could use a high difficulty and still do this but my hit points have gone up some here recently so I'm looking towards different opponents than before if that makes sense. granny63020 1 Quote
oceanblue5333 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Aquamentis12, You gave me some great information and made me feel a lot better at where I am at with my weapons and stats. I tend to go 'safe' but push it with trying a higher level opponent when I don't feel too intimidated! Yes, I love the void plot prizes- total score on those weapons!! Goals: I want to defeat the Space faerie (easy level is fine for now, lol!) and since recently signing up for premium, those cosmic dome opponents are desirable for some of the prizes. I also fight the obelisk challengers and currently the Void on extreme level for all. Goal is to start tackling some of the higher level challengers in the Battledome, anything around 300-450 when I have the time. Q's: Should I keep training and focusing on increasing my Level (current is 167) so that I can bring up my attack, defense, and agility? Best way to increase my HP's? Whatever good all around defense you could recommend is great. Also, when would be the best time to use that? After a one-two punch and my HP is low? I did check out your link for the secret Battledome challengers, good info! Thank you so much for your time and expertise, I appreciate it! Quote

Cool @lithiumkat! Varia is the Bomb is a constant 25 icon weapon good for once per battle, that'll give you a NICE extra clout to your opening attack! That and Turned Tooth could do a fair bit of damage on your opening salvo! Basically, about 96-118 damage at your current strength boost! Since Turned Tooth has variable offense. Ok, since it takes 3-4 turns for you to finish a battle, you probably should have some defensive gear on-hand. The opponents you list don't have a lot of icons in common, so "Downsize!" is definitely a defensive piece I think you should have. And yes the exclamation point is in it's name. It's always PRETTY cheap and is once per battle. Seems right now you can buy 1 from player shops at 5,000np. A little high but still not bad. I still have a Downsize! equipped in my set. lol Just in case. What other changes did you make to your equipment line-up? Here is a list of some defensive items I compiled awhile ago for taking some bite out of weapons that deal different elements. I JUST updated the prices so these are accurate as of 8pm NST. I mentioned this one already, but as a dual-duty that deals with darkness, Hanso Charisma Charm, 10-icon attack, defends ALL dark icons, about 25,000np. For Light Parasol of Unfortunate Demise blocks 3 water, 2-5 earth and ALL Light. About 100np For Water Underwater Oven Gloves, Blocks 5 Water and 2 Dark Under about 1,000np For Physical Altadorian Swordbreaker, only a 6 earth icon attack, but blocks all Physical. About 100,000np For Air Parchment Cloak would give you protection from 2 earth, 3 light, 3 dark, +5 Air icons thanks to your INT being above 150. Under 4,000np. For Fire Water Whip 10.4 attack reflects 50% of fire, about 25,000np OR the more expensive Water Powered Pistol 13 icons and blocks 5 solid fire icons. About 300,000np+, Flaming Oven Gloves may be kinda weak, Blocks 5 Fire and 2 Light. About 6,200np. [/spoiler] I hope that helps with your endeavors! If you have any further questions feel free to ask! 1 hour ago, oceanblue5333 said: Aquamentis12, You gave me some great information and made me feel a lot better at where I am at with my weapons and stats. @oceanblue5333, I'm glad you found the info I gave useful! Some opponents give different prizes for the different difficulty levels. It might be awhile before you can take on some of the rotating Cosmic Dome (premium) opponents on the strongest setting, but there's no harm in trying. Space faerie can be tricky, and Easy is the way to try! LOL I haven't fought her since before the old BD was replaced. But at that point my pet was only a little more powerful than your's is now I believe. But I didn't have the elite tier weapons you've got. Sounds like you've got some great personal goals! I wish you luck with them! As to your questions. Levels are important right now. You can train your HP to 3x your level, but if you do, you'll need to train level again until HP is 2x your level or you can't train your strength or defence. I would recommend training level, Strength and Defence. Defence if you want. As I said, some people don't worry much about defence. If you can beat your opponent quickly enough, it's not really needed. If you get to level 200 you can get the ability Warlock's Rage, which acts just like Lens Flare. So you can get 3 turns with a freezer of pure carnage before you need to worry about getting attacked back. Turn 1- weapon, weapon, Lens Flare. Turn 2- Weapon, Thunder sticks, Warlock's Rage Turn 3- weapon, weapon, attacking Faerie Ability. (I strongly recommend An Icicle instead of Sear). Turn 4 is when the opponent, IF it's still standing, can attack you. As I recommended to you lithiumkat, getting a Downsize! for that occasion might be a good idea. Since it blocks 50% of ALL damage once per battle. If you have a Thyora's Tear, (it's in the void prize shop as well), it blocks 100% of ALL damage once per battle. But you might want to try to trade or buy it from another player and save your prize points. We don't know what else might get added to that prize shop. As with Lithiumkat, I'll put a list of defensive items with updated prices in a spoiler for you to browse, the fire-related ones might help with The Space Faerie, since she uses a fair bit of Fire and Light. For a dual-duty that deals with darkness, Hanso Charisma Charm, 10-icon attack, defends ALL dark icons, about 25,000np. You ahave Illusen's Wand and that's better for attack AND dark defense! For Light Parasol of Unfortunate Demise blocks 3 water, 2-5 earth and ALL Light. About 100np Wand of the Dark Faerie is better for Light defense even though it blocks less, because of it's powerful attack! For Water Underwater Oven Gloves, Blocks 5 Water and 2 Dark Under about 1,000np For Physical Altadorian Swordbreaker, only a 6 earth icon attack, but blocks all Physical. As for your other questions. Agility is only useful to 201, for the Heavy Robe of Thievery. But stealing is broken right now, so you don't even have to focus on agility at all. As for the best time to use defensive items, it's after your Lens Flare and Freezer have been used. Since Thunder Sticks attacks and freezes for the NEXT turn, I'd recommend using Grapes of Wrath, Thunder Sticks and Lens Flare for your first turn, then use Grapes of Wrath and Wand of the Dark Faerie for your 2nd turn along with An Icicle faerie ability. Then use a combination of offensive and defensive items depending on what opponent you're facing. If you're going against the Space Faerie, perhaps Wand of the Dark Faerie and Water Powered Pistol for light and fire defense while hitting with a strong attack from both dual-duties? Also using defensive faerie abilities when possible like Meh or Burrow to randomly block some damage. For Training. I'd recommend trying your hand at Kitchen Quests while you are codestone training. You can find Kitchen Quests on Mystery Island, the Flotsam chef. Find the items he wants and you MIGHT get a single random stat point to your ACTIVE pet. You can complete up to 10 on-site quests per day. Kitchen Quests, Snow Faerie Quests, Edna Quests, all count toward this limit of 10. But only Kitchen Quests can give you stat points. They are random and can be for any Trainable stat. Level, HP. Strength, Defence, or Agility. Some of the requests are expensive, so limit yourself based on how much you want to spend TOTAL for a single stat point. Sometimes you'll get a junk item or an amount of NP of around or under 1,000np instead of a stat point. Rarely, you might get an item worth more than your spent on the quest. Lastly, the 10-count resets at Midnight NST. I hope this helps! Best of luck! Quote
