Do you know any Neopets artists?

One of the main reasons I played and loved Neopets for so long was the art. In my opinion, the site is filled with tons of gorgeous and memorable artwork. I remember I always looked forward to pet days to see what new marquees they'd add to the frontpage because most of them looked so cool. I remember that when JN released their image emporium, I would look up random words just to see what would come up and if I could find artwork I hadn't seen before.

I also remember that I hated how there was no way to know who were the people behind the beautiful art on the site. I was so curious about that kind of stuff! I wanted to know who were these artists I admired so much, but there was nothing I could do to find out. I only recognised them by their artstyle, not by their names.

So imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon one of these artists on Tumblr! Claire Hummel used to work for Neopets and was one of the main artists there. Apparently she got the job when she was 15? That's crazy!   Sometimes she posts her old art from working on the site on her blog. You should check out her Neopets tag to see some of the things she drew. I discovered she drew some of my favourite art pieces on Neo!

There's one specific post on her blog  that caught my attention, one where she redraws a couple of images from her early days at Neo:

                   

                                         

It just blows my mind!

So this got me thinking. Does any of you happen to know the names of some of the artists who worked at Neopets? If so, would you like to share what you know?

Thanks for starting this thread Hanso. I've always been curious too. A few brief Google searches ("Neopets art") over the years were flooded with amateur stuff (drawn mostly by kids). I wish I could add some names now but don't know any yet. I will be visiting this as it's updated.

Thanks for posting the link to that Tumblr page Hanso! (I can't believe she started working at Neopets when she was only 15!) I really love the front page banners she posted, especially the Firefly reference.

If I ever happen to stumble onto any of the artists' names, I'll definitely post them here.

Edit: I Googled "Neopets artists" and the 2nd result was this Reddit post, which actually has a list of artists (and it was only posted 10 ago). No idea how accurate it is, but I checked some of the names, and from what I've seen there's definitely some Neopets stuff in these artists's portfolio's, but for some artists I can't really find the Neopets connection. (I haven't spent a lot of time going through their work though, so I could've easily missed it.)

if you go to deviantart.com you'll find a lot if you search neopets! a lot of the google image results come from DA if you search for specific pets and stuff haha

Oooh, thank you so much for the link! Apparently the person who posted that list found those artists by checking the art credits from TCG rule book. Clever!

 I'll look through their portfolios and link to all their Neopets-related artwork below in case anyone is interested:

There were other artists mentioned in the Reddit post, but I couldn't find anything related to Neo on their portfolios :(

Oh, I know, but I was referring to official Neopets artists, as in artists who were at some point part of The Neopets Team

I got accepted to work there :).I got one drawing sent in,but I had to withdraw from the job orelse I would have lost my pention :(.I sent the original.

 

Mine had a Chia on a doorstep (the contest was like 2 years ago).
