Naamah D.
I read that Victoria's Secret doesn't want to design bras for women that have had mastectomies because it's "complicated". That form of cancer runs in my biological dad's side of the family and it is no laughing matter and I think its sad that a store that promotes confidence won't even bother with that. Women who have had that procedure deserve bras that don't look like granny bras. What do you think?
leverhelven
Oh my! I hate it when big brands show such lack of sensitivity. It's obvious it's not "complicated"; their real reason is probably profit (or lack thereof). On the other hand, I believe there probably are specific brands for this kind of bra (not that it makes Victoria's Secret any less of a jerk)... frozenpancakes
It's not because it's complicated, it's because the market for bras for women who have had mastectomies is much, much smaller than the market for regular bras. They would have to spend extra money on it, without having a big return. If there's no profit, they're not going to do it. (Side note: Victoria's Secret, in my opinion, does not promote confidence.) Shelley
bleh, I don't like Victoria's Secret anyway (and it's not just because of their insane prices). But yes, as said before, business-wise it would be a bad investment. There's not much of a market for it just as many large chain restaurants aren't getting onto the gluten free trend. "it's complicated" could mean a number of things. I know there's many different types of procedures in the mastectomy worlds with different outcomes. Without getting into details, new procedures are now allowing women to wear any normal bra that fits once the area has healed. Keep in mind that Victoria's Secret doesn't accommodate lager sizes either. And I've heard complaints that the bras that do come in larger sizes aren't as pretty or nice looking in general. A lot of racism exists in their fashions show, they use child labor in their production (or at least used to, I don't know about now), and have a very narrow minded view of what "beauty" is when it comes to what women should look like. I think the fact they don't want to deign specialty bra's is the least of their problems Mumtup
erato_
As some others above, I don't like Victoria's Secret to begin with. I my opinion hey promote perfection, and not confidence, and I'd much rather support a brand that has an eye for everyone's differences and preferences, and not just a select few. They could gain a whole new crowd of clients by creating those kinds of bras and they choose not too. It's their loss. Mouseykins
x_emrys_x
they are too overpriced for my taste, and I can get the same thing at target. No one actually looks at the label on your bra so I don't see why it matters. As long as it fits and is comfortable, then go with it. missjustina
Wow thats extremely messed up /: Just for them to say something like that publicly is a really jerkish move imo.
lordnuggets
It's a company, so I believe that it's fair for them to not do something that wouldn't bring them profit. Not that I'm against women who've had a mastectomy not being able to get a bra, of course.
brynchilla
It's not because it's complicated, it's because the market for bras for women who have had mastectomies is much, much smaller than the market for regular bras. This is very true. If there is more money somewhere else, the company is going to go down that path, rather than the path that would make less money. (But people would love to have open to them.) Because when you get down to it, Victoria's Secret is a company. The main point of a company is to make money. I only go to Victoria's Secret when I get the free underwear coupon. Because, hey. Free underwear.
eloralestrange
I don't know how complicated it would be, but I guess they can do what they want. I don't know if it sounds stupid... if making the bras causes them to lose money, then it makes sense. If the bras just turn a slightly lower profit, then I guess it is unfair. But maybe they want to appeal to the general public instead. Maybe they donate enough to other causes that they feel they don't have to. I don't go to the store so I wouldn't know. I googled 'bras for masectomy' and was met with a heaping ton of options. So you're okay on that front, although I do understand the point of your post.
