Neopets Account Backups

Because of the recent events of people losing access to certain accounts, and they had to prove that it was actually them who owned it and most had backups of their accounts.

I would like to start my own backups of my main account and side accounts.

But I have no idea, how I go about doing that.

What information needs to be included?

How does everyone else do their backups?

Any advice for starting a backup for my accounts?

What program is the best to use?

I just have a Word document with a lot of my main's information on it. It's important to list what other people wouldn't know, such as neomails, neofriends (and VIPs), stocks, any time you've purchased NC, what items you've bought with NC, pets you've created, pets you've pounded, pets you've transferred, etc. I like to keep it updated every 2 or 3 months. :)

I use microsoft word. I have my user name, birthdate, when you created your account. Items in my SDB, both rare and common items. Your approx. bank account balance, though it tends to change day to day. That is why I never let mine be uneven. EVER. I always deposit an amount that will make it an even, easy to remember amount. So if my interest makes my balance end with 780, I deposit 220 to 000 it out. Any warnings from TNT such as Silencing or other warnings, the date the neomail was sent to you and what the warning was for. Items like codestones and dubloons are difficult because you use them quite often, but you probably aren't going to have 12 SuAPs, or 10 pirate PBs, so have a count of things like that. Your gallery is definitely a good thing to have itemized. A list of neofriends. VIP and non VIP neofriends.

Use microsoft word to keep a list, and update it as needed.

On the actual ticket form for Account Access help (for when your account is active, you're just locked out), TNT has the following fields:

  • List the dates & amounts of the NC you have purchased (this one only comes up if you select Yes to having purchased NC)
  • Previously used password(s)
  • List any and all email addresses that have been linked to this account *Note which emails you have access to:
  • Your Birthday:
  • Who are your Neofriends?:
  • Items in your closet or equipped to pets (please specify):

In addition to those, the Frozen Account form (for when it's actually iced) includes:

  • Rare Item Codes Redeemed:
  • Warnings received:
  • Pets you have created, abandoned or transferred:
  • Further explanation, additional details:

Most of those should be fairly self explanatory, and they're all pulled from the public forms found under the specified Submit Ticket headers in the Help module.

For the NC, pull the logs from the Transaction Log under the NC Mall tab in the Neo header. The "NC Charges" list (the default when you go there) will include NC you've purchased and what method was used, as well as NC that's been gifted to you via site activities. The "NC Items" log has every item you've ever bought and the day you did so. These go back all the way to when NC first started, and includes every NC added to your account and every NC item you've ever bought.

Anything else you note down should be things that are very specific and 100% hidden from others. That'll all go in the "additional details" part if you're trying to unfreeze an account.

I'd suggest tracking if you use any of the NC machines- note what game, what day and approximate time, and what you got. This goes double for NC games that edit items like Dyeworks. If you use Fortune Cookies, make a note of when you opened one and what type it was. Same with opening capsules, using event related NC items (especially if you only got some of the event's NC bonuses but not all), and the specific path any MMEs you bought took. The aforementioned logs only say what was bought and when, they don't say anything about when it was used or what you got using it.

If there's any items in your SDB that are particularly noteworthy, note them down as well. And I'm talking very specific things- you don't need a running tally of everything in there (unless it's tiny), but if you have an unusually large number of something, track the number. If you have anything that's particularly valuable (PBs, morphs, expensive BD equipment, old rare item code items, ect) note that down. This goes for your storage shed and Neohome as well.

If you have any points left over in an old prize shop, note that down. Even if it's just a few you're the only one that can go see the specific number left.

As for where to keep it- just pick your favorite word processor and make sure you know where you put the file. You're going to be pasting this information into TNT's form, after all, not sending the document to them. ;)

Do not just save it to your hard drive. Have a backup via e-mail or Google Docs or the like (I recommend saving it to the cloud and not just a flash drive or backup drive so that you can access it anywhere).

When my hard drive died, I lost my Neopets Treasure Keeper codes permanently, so that's one less thing I can use to confirm my account.

I use that guide.

It tells a lot of information that you should know.

It includes the basics like past passwords, birthdate and e-mail but also some things you wouldn't think of, like petpet levels, books read and jobs done.

I update it every few months, since besides passwords most tends to stay the same.
