jally_muse
I have been a silent user of TDN for awhile but I only recently joined the forum. I am mostly posting for the pet lending cred. I really like reading what other people have to say but I don't really have much to add. Is anyone else here posting to get pet lending post credentials? If so, what is your posting strategy? I don't want to post useless spammy things but I have little I really need to add to the forums. Any advice on posting for us quiet types? Xepha
Hello and welcome :D When I started being active on TDN, I mainly posted comments on news. Then I started to venture and tried to help people as much as I could. You will quickly see that everyone here is friendly and helpful. Just take tiny steps, follow the rules and I'm sure your post count will go up eventually. Once you start being involved in a thread, it's easy to go back to it with the amazing View New Content filters. The main reason why we ask people to be part of the community in an active way before they borrow pet is that they are less likely to run away with them. The bottom line is, you might not think that you have much to add to a conversation, but remember that others people like you are eager to just read what is happening. You might be interesting to them :o. Take a chance, make friends! Mouseykins and Spritzie
jally_muse
Oh! I think the rule makes perfect sense. I was not say that! Just looking for talking points. I will try commenting on news. That seems like sound advice :) Mouseykins and Xepha
KyokoHateshinai
For me, I started with the general chat. At the beginning I had literally nothing interesting to say about Neopets (unless you count my obession to getting new avvies but I couldn't contribute much). Just talking about your life in general and reading what other people's lives are like made my attachment to TDN stronger. From there, I expanded to more neopet related topics when I got more avatars and try to help other people who were struggling to get the ones I had. Start with something you're most comfortable with! I never imagined I could post 90+ comments when I first started either. Have fun and be yourself~ No one will judge you here!
yasha
I have the same issue... just don't feel like I have much to contribute in any conversation. Most of the time whatever I would say has already been said by someone else anyway... so I usually just don't see the point in repeating what's been said already.. Perhaps I should give commenting on news a try as well.
jorydan_dopeaf
That's my same thoughts exactly yasha I'll find a good conversation somewhere though.
Spritzie
Welcome! :D We frequently get a lot of new members that join just for the ALP, but they discover more of the community and get wrapped up in it. Often before they even realize it, they've forgotten all about the fact that they joined for the ALP. It can be intimidating at first, but we have amazing staff and members here at TDN and it makes being part of the community a truly enjoyable experience. Personally, I joined during the Atlas of the Ancients plot. I had no specific thoughts as to how much I would post, if I'd stick around or not, but I got so absorbed into the feeling of the community that I never left and can't even imagine leaving. Duma
I never joined for ALP so can't really relate to it, but once you just start participating in things, even the games that don't add posts to your post count, you start to get fun and without noticing your being active and get lots of post counts. You could also try helping people with faerie quests. Since we're all from all over the world, topics will popup where you can add things that haven't been said before. Help people with problems, advice on games, strategies you use, etc. There are so many things on here that even the quiet types can find something to reply to. It can either be about neopets or (your) real-life situations, depending on what is easier for you to talk about. :laughingsmiley:
vulturepulcher
Hi! Yeah I just joined too and am having the same thoughts. I hope to get to know a lot of you guys!
laceew45
I started out posting just for lending credit but I realized that sometimes I just needed help with neopets and instead of neomailing my aunt, I decided to ask on forums so I could get my posting credit as well. It adds up really fast. I check my post counter constantly and today I was amazed that I am almost to 50. It also helps to post on people's introductions. Just say welcome and nice to have them (in more than 7 words of course!). Also, you see, I am not really posting on a "news" topic but I am just being friendly! Plus, a lot of people on here are really nice. You should make friends on here to help with neopets stuff.
