1_little_sweet_girl
I just need to rant! I babysit 3 children which both parents are doctors. They live in a HUGE house, and the kids wear expensive clothes and have expensive gaming systems, and EVERYTHING. The children are so SPOILED. One day when it was raining, their shoes had gotten wet and I asked them to take their shoes off at the door when we walked in the house. The 8 year old boy said "no. my mommy doesn't make us do that" and ran to the couch, flipped over the back of the couch and just sat there with his wet shoes. They play their hand held games all the time and don't want to go outside and do anything. 8 years old and playing mine craft! I'm in school studying to be a nurse, and I was told that doctors are better and that I shouldn't waste my time... I think it's extremely important for children to understand respect for people and for things. And that even though they do have nice things, they need to treat them nicely - not jump on the nice expensive couch with wet shoes. I also think it's important for children to have some time outside and away from electronics, maybe even read. Do something productive that won't make them become fat children. Duma
Yup, I agree with you there, but that's not the job of a babysitter but for the parents. You could ask them how they feel about it and if it's allowed or not. Then you could either, not care, or tell the kids they are wrong. I had to babysit kids of rich parents too, but I asked them about the rules of the house so the kids couldn't take advantage of me. After a while both the kids and the parents loved me for how I handled things and I got the kids to play hide and seek and fantasy games outside. coltom
Yes, you should get into medical school and not nursing school. The income disparity, the job stability are just so far different. I've known a lot of great nurses, and there are some higher paying positions that can be achieved by building upon the RN, but they are currently throwing money at doctors like no one's business. So stop wasting time playing neopets, study for the MCAT and get into medical school. This post has been edited by a member of staff (Vyvren) because of a violation of the forum rules. Duma
I disagree with you coltom. Maybe doctors get paid more, but, is that the most important part? I don't think so. You should do something you like so you will have fun at your job. Some people don't want a huge load of responsibility or choose an "easier/less valued" job for a reason. As long as you can pay all your bills, it doesn't matter what you do, every job is needed. No one should look down on you for what you do/like to do. Even if you're a cleaner or a garbage man. AJ11
It must be hard for you to see these kids acting like this, however if the parents of these children do not want their kids to bother about their possessions that is really up to them. Not everyone puts the same value on objects and it can be difficult to accept a very different point of view to your own. You could try a different approach for example saying 'I like to take off my shoes when they are wet, I dont like dirty couches and floors.' 'I am careful not to break my things because I like them and want to keep playing with them.' They can come back at you with' who cares' and 'so wha't but you will still have set them thinking so in future they may consider what you have said. 1_little_sweet_girl
Thanks guys :) I just wanted to rant. Hey Coltom! When are you getting YOUR doctorate?? Dont be a jerk!! I am very successful at a young age. I not only babysit on the side, but I'm an owner of a company. When I manage the office, yes I play some neopets. I've been playing for a long long time, and just haven't had a desire to stop. And I do ALL that, while making As in my classes. Thanks!
