so , last night the Faerie Quests started in celebration of the annual Faerie Festival

 

and all of a sudden the prices of Quest items are through the roof

 

now I got 2 Dark Quests so far and both were cheap

 

but seriously I ain't buying an item for 40k just for a couple stats points !!

 

 

... what's your opinion on it ? has Neopia been ruined by greed ???

I'd still do the quest... since training school cost me more than 40k on average now :P

 

But anyway, seems like some inflation is going on, and that's not really a good thing... I'm sure some cleaver users bought quest items massively and it won't get better during the event.

I'm buying the most common quest items for cheap prices so if I get a quest for that item, I don't have to spend over 10k on an item. As it is it looks like my Baby Paint Brush is gonna have to wait.

I got Fyora and the Battle Faerie and both were fairly cheap so I guess I've been lucky so far! Neopets has /definitely/ been ruined by greed :( It's such a shame cause it seems like the kind of site that would attract, y'no, nice people XD

 

At least you only have to visit the page to contribute to getting the overall prize, not complete the quest. Good job on TNTs part!

Yesterday for my quest I needed a Nanka Potion (I think that's what it was) I went to Kauvara's shop and haggled instead of searching.

 

It was cheaper than going to the training school.

I don't think it's greed per se. I think it's the natural way of things. Besides, if someone wants to spend 30k on Torn Rainbow Gym Socks it's fine with me. I will gladly add that to my Faerie Xweetok savings. :-)

Naturally, some people tend to take advantage. Just like how the Bonju avie items skyrocket when it's almost August. Fortunately lots of people who run Mall Shops who have marked-up prices would be able to keep most of the item prices at a decent rate. I personally don't mind it, doing a quest saves me at least 12 codestones (more if it's Fyora, Battle Faerie or Space Faerie), so if I have to pay 10-20k for one item, it's still cheaper than what I'd spend, not to mention the 24 hours of training I can skip.

Prices rise with demand. The more demand, the higher the price, it will all go back to normal when this is all over. :/

Easy. People are intelligent. I suppose had I not been so lazy, I may have joined in, Thankfully, most of my items have been pretty decently priced. ^^;;;

Both of my books have been about 1k. Not to bad in my opinion, but I think if an item is over 5k I won't bother doing the quest :3

its like the advent calendar items just after they are released, the price remains really high during december, now they are starting to fall.

 

its basic economics of supply vs demand :P and people are always everywhere going to take advantage. I'm much more laid back about my np spending than i used to be, and i think it would depend on the type of quest offered, 30k i probably won't do it but i like the participation in an event so if it was 20k i would :) even though it probably costs me less to train with codestones/dubloons at the moment, and the fact the lab ray is sure to take some points away from me :P

Well, this always happens. Everybody is saving for somehting, when an event comes that demands certain items, the price goes up. It's not just greed, it's cunning.

 

Though I do hate getting expensive items for a Faerie Quest, mainly if it's the Air Faerie. But I'll do it for Fyora, Space Faeire, Battle Faerie, and Fountain Faerie, since they give out rewards that are worth it.

Sorry neomysterion, I did edit my post to add in my thoughts about neopian inflation to stay on topic but I forgot to press save post before I went to school

 

Personally I think it's pretty clever and wish I'd had the foresight to do it. I know it's mean but I'm saving for a plushie pb so need all the NPs I can get :)

This did happen last year. I remember abandoning quite a few Air Faerie quests, because formerly cheap items, came to cost 10/20/30k, and over.

 

Looking back at the FQ thread during last year's, tons of the prices were barely below 10k, and there were tons of items far above that. There were Air Faerie items listed for 80-90k even.

 

Like the price of Ember's Boots went up to around 99k. Same with Tears of the Water Faerie.

I paid around 800NP when I got one to keep a month ago. They're already around 15k now. Last year, by mid-event, they were 99k.

Hm. What exactly does the faerie queen give away that's so good? I abandoned one of her quests today because she wanted an item that was like 50k. Hah! Not doing that!

It's an increase in several stats. I thought i read somewhere that it's just 1 in each but idk. Battle faerie is +2 in HSD. Cost 1800 today.

supply and demand, demand increases sharply during the event, and driving the price up, and as demand drops after the event, prices will drop

It's unfortunate but that's how it goes, I guess. Supply and demand. I've been lucky so far, I've completed my quest every day and the most I paid was about 3k.
