rachiee Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Surprisingly, the power never went out here...if so, I must have been asleep when it did. =P I just took a look outside my window and it looks like the wind and rain storm never even happened, save for a few puddles on the ground. EDIT: I take that back, a few large tree branches fell down and a fence was broken. And it's confirmed that we didn't get a big power outage. :D Quote
Spritzie Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 I'm glad it's seeming to fizzle itself out now and that everyone is safe. :) My husband is from Florida, so he's been through quite a few hurricanes. I haven't, obviously being from Colorado. But then again, I've lived in Colorado my whole life, and I've never been through a tornado either. Quote
Tedhaun Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Where I live, New England rarely gets hurricanes and tropical storms. Last big ones to get Rhode Island would be Hurricane Bob and Hurricane Floyd if I'm not mistaken. I may get some more rain and winds, but things should clear up overnight. Quote
Naamah D. Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 ^ Glad you got your power back, Rach. Worst for me was 30 minutes in my area. No trees were downed in my area, but downed in some other cities near where I live. I'm also glad that Irene downgraded due to colder waters, and some folks in Northern New England won't be lucky. All we're getting here is rain, wind and flickering lights. I'm just sitting in my room enjoying Sims 2. Plus, rain helps me sleep :) Quote
Lady Kakata Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Can I help cheer the mood? I CANNOT stop laughing at this Yeah, I'm Googling Disney face-swaps Quote
khaos Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 LOL at that. xD i saw something else on this thing that made me Lol. (i retyped it and cleansed out the bad parts) i understand how scissors can beat paper, and I get how a rock can beat scissors, but there’s no frikin’ way paper can beat rock. is paper supposed to magically wrap around rock and leave it immobile? why the heck can’t paper do this to scissors? screw scissors, why can’t paper do this to people? why aren’t sheets of college ruled notebook paper constantly suffocating students? i’ll tell you why, it’s because paper can’t beat anybody. a rock could tear that crap up in two seconds. When I play rock paper scissors, i always choose rock. and when somebody claims to have beaten me with their paper, i can punch them in the face with my already clenched fist and say, oh crap i’m sorry, i thought paper would protect you THAT. Tedhaun Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Darn, it has been a while since I watched Disney's Tarzan. I remember watching that one in the theaters when I was 7 or something. Disney still has quality animated films these days (like Cars, The Princess and the Frog, and Tangled), but I'm not one for the Hannah Montana, Suite Life, and Jonas Brothers stuff (no offense). :)Doc Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Guys I'm excited. Tomorrow is my first marching band gig at my high school's first football game, at an actual stadium! :P Most kids in marching band aren't supposed to be there unless they're past 9th grade- there's 5 exceptions this year; including me! :) Wish me luck! :D Quote
Naamah D. Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I could never imagine being in a marching band. The uniforms are hideous and I have no musical talent, I'll sing and that's as far as I'll go. The farest I think I'll go for extra cirrculars is Students Against Destructive Decisions. I was in the school orchestra for a while. I totally flunked that class. I hated my Cello so much. Quote
jumpingbeans Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I wanna be in a marching band...but first, I'd need a Sousaphone. I can barely play Tuba standing up (I need to stand on one leg). Quote
rachiee Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I don't think I could ever be in a marching band, let alone play instruments for school again. I am in chorus though, but that kinda doesn't count. I really love chorus, I just hate that like, 90% of the kids in chorus are only there to get a free "A" and not to sing. :| Quote

I was in chorus for a little bit but it got boring. My first day of school is tommorow. I need to start cleaning out my back pack and such. I'll wait until everyone in my house is awake since I'm the only early riser. Quote

Marching band is actually why I quit band for HS. No matter what band you were in, even Jazz Band, you were required to march and be at all of the football games. By that time, I was playing the tenor saxophone and there was no way I was marching with that, not to mention I dislike football. Quote
Naamah D. Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Yeeee!!!! He sounds so cute in Nightcore! Here I go fangirling again, Nightcore or not I love him! Quote
What else can I say? Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I'm so excited for my first semester of college to start!! I know it'll be a lot of work, but I hope I'll have fun there too. Quote
Tedhaun Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I wish anyone who has school or college good luck on all their endeavours for this upcoming year. I can't believe that August is almost over as well, won't be long now until I have to go back to job training, as well as sleeping during the afternoon/evening like I used to (as well as being active extremely late at night). Quote
rachiee Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Omigod, August ends tomorrow. Wow, this summer has really gone by fast. :O Anyway, I finally decided to stop being lazy and buckle down on my assignments! Better late than never, eh? ;D I feel like that calls for some sort of celebration. Maybe I'll make a cake or something this week, depending on how I feel. Quote
Wembly Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I made banana bread today in the bread machine and it apparently was rather stuck in the machine because when I went to turn it over to get the bread out, all the inside of the bread came out leaving what was essentially the crust of the entire loaf in the bottom/sides of the pan, fail :rolleyes_anim: It looks really dumb but it still tastes alright. I think you'll like it. :) We had to combine ours with the middle school kids because we weren't big enough alone. Aside from a few discipline problems, it worked out pretty well. Quote
Tedhaun Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I used to remember holding off all my assignments to the last minute, it's not fun panicking when the last minute comes. I usually panicked at the first minute I get an assignment (mainly a harder one that required more attention) or have to study for a test at High School, I'd rather get these things done sooner opposed to later, I had to learn that the hard way when I was in my teen years. Quote
The Meepit Commando Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Good luck with the band, I have to start 8th grade soon, blah :sad01_anim: Quote
rachiee Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I procrastinated on just about everything during grades 5 and 6. I was a really bad student during those two years (I also refused to do my homework several times- it was pretty much regular for me to refuse to do homework in grade 5), but once grade 7 rolled around I cleaned up my act, and it's been over two years since I last got a C. :D Not counting the summer assignments, it's been a while since I last procrastinated on a major assignment...like, at least five or six months. Part of the assignment was done in school and another part was done at home, and I had somewhat of a panic attack/nervous breakdown during class once, induced by stress and procrastination. Heh, come to think of it, I've been having quite a few procrastination-induced nervous breakdowns as of late. I don't think they're bad enough that I have to go see someone about it, but they have been pretty frequent. :| EDIT: @48066; I'm just wondering but did you skip a grade? Quote
The Meepit Commando Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Yep, I actually skipped 1st grade, which is why I am a 12 year-old eighth grader :king: Quote
rachiee Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I was twelve when I started grade 8 as well, but I didn't skip a grade, I just happened to be born just a few days before the cutoff date :) I actually like being among one of the youngest people in the grade, believe it or not. Quote
