So many numbers. Since I'm sick and tired of school, and I want to enjoy my day off in peace without any school related stuff, I will avoid this topic until the answer to the problem is solved.

You have a day off?! You're so lucky! >.<

And so far:

using quadratic formula it becomes

square root 100-120 .....which gives me a negative number and you can't square a negative number....We're on the right track though

Maybe we're only supposed to add 5 and not 50....???

Okay, let's approach this a bit differently (I know I have it right this time).

Let's go back to this equation:

(1/2)at^2+v(i)t=(1/2)at^2+v(i)t

Plugging everything in...

(1/2)(0)t^2+10t=(1/2)(1.2)t^2+(0)t

Simplifying...

10t=0.6t^2

But wait! The original problem says that object B starts 5 seconds after object A. That's very important. So the time for object A is 5 seconds more than the time for object B, so on the side where you're calculating object A, replace the "t" with "t+5".

So you'll get something like this:

10(t+5)=0.6t^2

Think you can take it from here?

I have the answer, so if you want, just post what you get and I'll confirm, though everything's there for you, so it's basically just algebra from this point on.

I think so. Either that or it's 25.69 seconds.

Bah. I'm too tired to think any harder on this x_x

I'll post again if I have an epiphany though :P

yeah. Avoid word problems at all costs -_-

But what really helps me learn is by doing practice questions...

And we were discussing physics. My exams aren't for a few more months....and I don't even have math this semester o.0 Good luck on your exams though!

And I have to go to bed now. Unsteam I still can't thank you enough :P

Eep! I missed Physics help? But I love Physics! D=

Still, glad Will could help you, Kuro. He's a smart one. ^_^

a) t= 20.69sec?

b )

use equation d= V1t + 1/2a(t)^2

d= 10(20.69) + 1/2 (0) (20.69)^2

d= 206.9?

*crosses fingers* >.<

Yes, the part A is correct with 20.69 but for your distance equation your V1 is 0 since you are starting from rest and you were given the a=1.2 which you should have used to get the correct t since I haven't really looked at your stuff of what your did but moral of the story if you plug the right stuff in you should get a distance of 256.9 not 206.9 If you need more help in understanding stuff, let me know.

Edit: Looking at it again, I guess you were plugging into your distance equation for A which I would not have written that way personally but none the less, your way is fine too but you forgot to add the initial 50m that A travels before B starts.

I excel in Science and US History. Too bad that my school has NEITHER. I have Global History and Physics. I know that Physics lead into Astronomy, but after Physics, I get Chemistry, and THAT'S IT. Everything else is Latin, Latin, English, Latin, Spanish, Latin, Latin, Math, Latin, Global History, Latin, Yoga, Skills, Art History (HATE IT), Latin, Latin, Latin. Oh, and did I mention Latin?

How do you not have US history? Is that not a requirement to graduate high school in NY? Because in NJ at least, you have to pass US history 1 and 2 before you can graduate high school.

Calc is so boring all this stuff about acceleration and velocity is doing my head in :(

today I found out how to change my gender back! :D

And US history is a optional course for me. I was going to take it because I needed a group one credit (history, geo, social sci or another language) but it was full -_- Apparantly they get a trip to DC

Thanks for the input!

Awwww..... I was hoping you'd stay a boy forever. :P

And I've just got Science, Math, French (I'm in immersion), Health, Band, etc. No different stuff for me. :(

Does anyone here play an instrument?

So that' the first thing I read when I came to this page.

Oh, the possibilities...

It IS a requirement. But I don't get US History until 3rd year. So instead I will be failing Global and Art History for the next 2 years. How I hate Art. And Art History. We also don't get health until 3rd year.

I want to transfer out of my school so much...

-Hugs Jb- I'm so sorry! -start singing baby come back to me-

-hugs CAV- That sucks. -whisper- Psssst! Come to my school!

-Hugs Tyler- No real reason I just wanted to do that. :D

Art History? That sounds like my least favorite two subjects combined. I'd hate that.

Edit: Ryan: It's okay. *sniff* Just don't do it again. *Hugs Ryan too*
