Luciana Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 Not in New York. We only had one instance of sleet before this. February 2010, dude. Around 20 inches of snow. I can understand that you forgot, though. By this time of the year, everything before the Summer seems to mesh together. I'm starting to lose track of what happened on what years V_V Spritzie- That sounds wonderful. I'm jealous. Quote
CAV of Gang Green Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 February 2010, dude. Around 20 inches of snow. No. January is the only instance that New York City got snowfall, and that was only about 6 inches. Upstate may have gotten it, but we only had minor notes of sleet from February on. The last blizzard that NY had was in 2004 I believe. If not, then the blizzards following it were really crappy, and don't really catagorize as blizzards. Quote
Luciana Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 ...What are you talking about? I am talking about New York City. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_North_American_blizzard_of_2010#New_York Read the third and fourth paragraph. Hopefully that will jog your memory. I know that was 10 months ago but yeesh. Quote
CAV of Gang Green Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 Oh THAT snowfall. Bloomberg cancelled the schools overnight, but it stopped instantly, and in the end there wasn't a lot of snow. Maybe that explains why I don't remember such things. And it was mostly upstate. Central Park was the only area that had a lot of snow. I don't count it as a blizzard since there wasn't a lot of snow where I am (Brooklyn). It was just a normal snowfall for me. Quote
Sofa Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 The huge snow drifts causing issues in America were on the BBC News here last night, they looked insane! Pretty sure I've never seen snow so deep that cars were completely buried other than on tv (yet). Quote
Luciana Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 CAV- That makes sense. I was a bit north from you and probably closer to Manhattan when it happened. I remember it as a blizzard. Quote
CAV of Gang Green Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Try to note that Brooklyn is right next to Manhattan. I'm guessing that you live upstate. Quote
rugrat0ne Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 That reminds me, I've got to dig out my car sometime today. Urgh. Quote
Masaryk Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 Digging out cars is no fun. It's even less fun in the morning when you have to go to work. The first real snowfall this year turned out to be like that for me. We got about 12" of snow overnight. I had cleaned the car off at around 9 pm to give my sister a ride somewhere, and my husband had to help me dig it out in the morning so that I could get to work on time. The roads weren't very clear either. Yay for snow tires and AWD!!! Quote
Luciana Posted December 29, 2010 Posted December 29, 2010 masaryk_the_mad- Ah that sucks. I had to do something similar yesterday- except instead of a car it was a fence. It was either 1-dig out that fence or 2-suffer from the smell of death coming out of the garbage can. :skull: Try to note that Brooklyn is right next to Manhattan. I'm guessing that you live upstate. heh. So are two other boroughs. >;] I'm not sharing where I live, so you can assume whatever. Quote
CAV of Gang Green Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 heh. So are two other boroughs. >;] I'm not sharing where I live, so you can assume whatever. Exactly. Queens is the only exception. That's fine. But judging that you were near Manhattan during the last so called "blizzard", I would suspect that you're upstate. Quote

Octopus Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 I hope my flights don't get delayed by the snow . I hate snow. I first experienced snow last year and slipped/fell several times. Quote
zoologynerd Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 i hate snow too. my moms car is terrible in it and it likes to fish-tail all the time. i almost fell down my driveway this morning too cause it was super snowy. the other day it all melted and got up to 50! and now its down to below 20 again :( Quote
rugrat0ne Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Yay! It's starting to snow! I hear we're supposed to get a storm over the weekend. (I can be excited about it, because I don't have anywhere to go) Quote
CAV of Gang Green Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 It's snowing here in NY again. And the snow from the blizzard still hasn't melted. :laughingsmiley: Quote
Sofa Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 It snowed again here this morning too, it felt like a lot when I was walking down to the village in it, but it doesn't look so much any more now it's just on the ground and I'm inside, lol. Quote
Manta Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Woohoo I woke up and it was snowing!! :D Hopefully it'll keep going...i don't really feel like going out tonight lol xDDD Quote
Secre Posted January 7, 2011 Author Posted January 7, 2011 We seem to have gotten rid of all our snow by now! Thank the lord for that I was getting very peeved with it...I dislike wet feet afteer a while! Hopefully we won't have any more for some time... Quote
rugrat0ne Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Darn, the weather report says we're only getting a few inches. Oh well. Quote
Masaryk Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 We finally got a bit of snow, but only about 4 inches over two days. Today, it was really cold and sunny. It was -20°C (-4°F) when I woke up this morning. Quote
rugrat0ne Posted January 7, 2011 Posted January 7, 2011 Brr, that's cold. I like to stay indoors when it's that cold out. Who am I kidding, I always like to stay indoors this time of year. Quote
AngieJules Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 We very rarely, if ever, get snow here. Here's as close as we ever get to a "snowman" :P Snowy, Christmas 2009 Quote
rugrat0ne Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 That's so cute! I love the little scarf and hat. Here's what my backyard looked like this afternoon: I always love it when the snow is still on the trees. Quote
