Now its obvious how much Tyrannia is cheating. 23 IN SS? That's unthinkable. If TNT is so freaking blind and doesn't notice it OR doesnt do anything about it, then this could be the most unfair AC ever... (Not counting AC I)

Unfortunately, the bracket system is supposed to be "random." But when you have 2 and 3 teams who are constantly in the same bracket or, moreso, 2 teams consistently in the same bracket but never playing each other, it starts to seem a little fishy. Maybe we're all conspiracy theorists and the brackets so far are purely coincidence due to the random nature (small chances, but not impossible), or maybe they are a little less random than TNT claims they are.
 
I can understand why so little information (read: next to none) about the brackets and the scoring can be publicly released, though. If we knew the exact algorithms and methods by which things were done, it would only be a matter of time before people found ways to exploit them, both by tailoring legitimate methods of playing, as well as not-so-legitimate methods. I really just wish the tournament would go back to the round robin style. I think being able to play every team the same amount of times would provide much clearer, more accurate standings than this mish-mosh of a bracket system.

I've been reading about these "partner teams" and here they are:

1) Altador & Roo Island (0 encounters)
2) Tyrannia & Krawk Island (1 encounter)
3) Darigan Citadel & Kreludor (1 encounter)
4) Shenkuu & Virtupets (1 encounter)
5) Maraqua & Terror Mountain (2 encounters)
6) Meridell & Kiko Lake (1 encounter)
7) Faerieland & Moltara (2 encounters)
8) Haunted Woods & Brightvale (1 encounter)
9) Lost Desert & Mystery Island (1 encounter)

The bracket system doesn't make any sense period. I've never seen a system so illogical before in my life.

They are unfair. Wins/losses don't seem to matter anymore.
Moltara has 11 wins so far.
Faerieland has 8.
Mystery Island has 2.
And yet...we're behind them.
In last place.
It doesn't make any sense.
 
I mean I don't expect us to do well, since the brackets are never kind to small teams, but I was hoping to beat last year's 15th place.
I'm mostly in it to try and get All-Star but it's still annoying that your team's efforts and wins don't matter anymore.

TNT is giving RI and KI having to be with AL and TY the whole cup. MD gets the easy way finish by getting all the easy brackets.

hm, that not good news to hear. we need as many people to play as possible. not going to lie I was very discouraged when we first faced Tyrannia and they swept us because it's not fair that there are these groups out there that are cheating and ruining the experience for not only the opposing teams but those fair players on that team as well. I know there has been cheating groups since the beginning of the AC but I really think they need to start doing something about it.. but I can only do so much, I'm not TNT so I can't change what they do and how they do it. I'm just trying to have the most fun I can, and trying my hardest to get Krawk Island in at least the Top 5 because I know we can do it! We can't stop the cheating but at least we can show them that we are a strong team and we don't give up! :laughingsmiley:
 
As for the maxing on two or more games and being suspended for it, this is the first time I'm hearing that.. that's weird though. Why suspend people for playing the games that they put there? Aren't there limits for a reason..? :S

This bracket is really sapping away my energy/willpower/sanity. More red, and now we get to fight Tyrannia (hopefully for the last time this AC). Well, I wish everyone luck. I will definitely be maxing something, although I'm not quite sure what. Any suggestions (I'm considering YYB, but looking at their scores today, I'm not sure it's a good idea)?
 
EDIT: Woah, Roo Island broke Tyrannia's winning streak?! That's...almost unbelievable. Great job, Roos!

GL today, KI. I hope you guys can rally -- we proved that TY is breakable. Just focus on only 1 or 2 games and spam, spam, spam (if you can keep one of them secret, even better -- Tyrannia didn't bring their A-game to SS, and we sneaked in a second victory there). You guys were really close in YYB and SoSd last time.

That didn't quite end up how we'd hoped, but we can't give up. This is decidedly the hardest bracket, so make sure to tell all the KI people to pick up the involvement! I suspect that RI might have had a higher number of active players and less inactive, so we need to be sure that as many people as possible are doing their part :]

I don't even care that we've had it rough the entire way, I just want to beat as many of the teams in this bracket as possible, I'm really looking forward to getting to play RI and AL. At least we know that whatever position we finish in we worked hard enough to deserve it and more :)

Oooh The original and eventide look kind of awesome on this. The other colors are fine, but those stand out to me.

Besides, I think some teams, such as the Sway and the Awakened, are more polarizing than others (the Seekers, too, for that matter) -- you either like them or you don't. The Brute Squad has the Princess Bride reference, which is all kinds of awesome, especially to those of us who grew up with that movie as one of their favorites, plus it has its altruistic goal (according to the Neopedia -- which could earn respect from peace-loving Neopians), plus it appeals to warriors (as does this skirmishing). Even if it wasn't most people's first (or second) choices, many are on their 3rd or 4th choices by now. The Brute Squad was definitely in my top 4 (I'm not very good at picking favorites).
 
While many were drawn to the Sway, many were turned off by its perceived snobbery and classism. And many were turned off by the childishness of the Awakened -- it's sort of like Faerieland; a lot of people love it, but a pretty large number are also kind of anti-faerie. There's not a lot for the Awakened to appeal to besides "WOW - Zombies!," so for non-zombie fans (especially those sick of cake jokes thanks to Portal)... there's not a lot for the Awakened to offer.
 
But that's the awesome thing about Neopets -- TNT offers lots of different lands (and now factions) to appeal to all kinds of people. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the Sway or the Awakened. If you like them, that's great!

I split my laptop screen so I have a video playing and a little window where I click, I manage like, 50 battles in 30 minutes doing this xD

Hey guys. I'm fighting for the Order this time :] I know my bd pet isn't all that grand, and my patience seems to run a bit thin with the battles, but I'm in. lol I've gotten fifty battles in on hard for the day. Even though they were split between the two lowest tiers. That's about all I can force myself to do until tomorrow.
 
Also, kris10ly, the eggs won't die since they're now over level 2000. They're immortal and no longer need to be fed unless that's how they evolve. Though it's sort of weird to not feed them...

We suspect that's the case, Xandria. It's now labeled as a "new feature." So hopefully eventually we'll all get all the avatars and themes, though it might take a while. If the Order are in it next time, I predict they'll win it. (I was right about the Thieves this time, little good it did me since I followed my heart instead of my head.) Oh, and TNT says that team size doesn't matter; they normalize things. So even if a faction is less popular, if everyone on it works hard, I think they can win.
 
buttbiscuit, do you really expect to earn fantastic prizes without putting any work in? My pets were unleveled and I had no weapons except free ones from around the site during the Meridell War. I got one point. By the time I figured out there was a war on, I couldn't afford to upgrade my weapons, even if I wanted to. Was I bummed that I got no prize, no theme, no avatar? No. I didn't deserve them compared to the people who put the effort in to actually win the war for... whichever side won that war. Sure, I struggled, lost a few battles, got lucky and won that 1 battle. It was nothing compared to the effort others put in.
 
You could have won free weapons from the battledome that would have let you beat the two easiest opponents in at least a few rounds. You could have bought some healing potions and visited the healing springs every 30 min. (or bought a really cheap healer with a single day's NP winnings). You could have lost (or drawn) your way into "doing your part," if the Obelisk War is any indication. I don't think it's unfair for TNT to require a minimal level of effort to win the prizes. Think of all of us on losing factions (that's approximately 2/3 of us) who only got a cheap consolation prize -- and that was for putting in hundreds or thousands of battles. Why should you get a site theme, avatar, and boon for seven? I know you're disappointed. But now you know what you'll have to do next time to make sure you qualify. If you need help building a set or developing a battle strategy for next time, there are lots of people here who can help you.

Ehhhhh, hate to tell you, but that's EXTREMELY low. As you can see from this board, there were people doing thousands of battles in the 4 day span; I'm considered very low level (edit: we have almost the same stats for our strongest pets, I was beating the easiest bosses on hard so you should've had no problem on easy! :eh: ) but I still managed to do 70-80 battles. This event was made for people who have higher level pets to prosper. You think it's unfair to people like you, but you have to make a strong attempt & contribute to gain the benefits.
 
Anyways, I picked the right team this time and got the avatar & theme. I'm glad I got this one but I'm still hoping we have another chance to get the ones we've missed/are going to miss. I don't wanna be whiny but I'd really hate to miss out on these just because I'm unlucky! :worried:

Yay Thieves Guild!!! It was a nice surprise to get a new avvie and theme when I went to the Battleground! I thought it might take a bit longer for the results to be released.
I hope this doesn't go for 12 weeks o_O It's good if everyone gets more of a chance to win, but I can't see me battling for that long.

I like these, but my favorite is definitely the Pandaphant. It's pretty adorable and kind of reminds me of the elephants from Disney's The Jungle Book.

The only reason that I'll do this is to hopefully have another shot at a Thieves Guild avatar... the boons are not that interesting, really (though I like the Stock Market one).

I definitely agree with tinyplasticdinos. There was a whole lot of pumping everyone up for the obelisk war. A whole lot of room for plot to be built surrounding the opening of the obelisk and what we end up finding inside. If there isn't something more to this than the battles, it will be really rather disappointing. At least for me. I want a prize shop as much as the next person, but just leaving the obelisk all open up surprise prize shop here seems like a waste of a great opportunity for puzzles and plot lines and adventure. Still hoping against all odds. I could be easily pacified with an avatar though. Just sayin'.

I guess I am one of the few that does not like the site theme. Orange should never ever, never ever, don't even think about it as a lettering. The human eye has a near blind band in orange, as your recepters just are not sensitive to it at all.
You'd have to be crazy to use orange on a computer screen.
 

I hope not, honestly - imo the more time they leave, the greater chance this is going to be a full, long-term plot with regular breaks (like say for the negg festival/daily dare/AC). My deepest hope right now is that mid-April as the negg festival is finishing up we'll get a nice "oh wow after all that counting it looks like everyone was TIED????!? and now all the faction leaders are racing for one of the six obelisk doors OH HEY PUZZLE GO" announcement.

I say that's good, though! As opposed to some people who zap pets and just pound them again - that seems counter productive xD It shows you care about the pets that come under your care even for a short while. I'm just happy to see more people like you out there, rescuing pound pets and trying to make sure they go to good homes :)
