Hi everyone, it's been a while...

I have a major problem since the puzzle cannot be solved:

With the 10th clue, we have all time slots: Midnight, 1:00 AM, 2:00 AM, 3:00 AM and 5:00 AM

Considering Clues 2 and 5, "bribing a guard" could not be done at midnight and therefore:
A/ Pyramid Prowlers stole at Midnight
B/ Pocket chess was performed by bribing the guard

Considering Clue 6, a guild stole at 3:00 AM and another guild stole by bribing the guard, therefore:
C/ With B, Pocket chess was not stolen at 3:00 AM

Considering Clue 9, Pocket Chess was not stolen at 2:00 AM, therefore:
D/ With B, bribing the guard could not happen at 2:00 AM

From Clues 2 and 5, C and D, bribing a guard could only be done at 1:00 AM or at 5:00 AM

However, it cannot be done at 1:00 AM because of A (Pyramid Prowlers stole at midnight) and clue 2 (Oasis Runners have to steal before the bribe). Therefore
E/ Remains 5:00AM for the bribe

Considering the Clue 3 and E, we have:
F/ Distraction cannot be performed at 5:00 AM -> Wedding Ring was stolen by using distraction
H/ Sun Chasers stole at 5:00 AM

With H, it means that the Sun Chasers stole the Pocket Chess by bribing the guard at 5:00 AM, which contradicts Clue 9!

Or the remaining solution is that the time slots are ordered as follows:
1:00 AM, 2:00 AM, 3:00 AM, 5:00 AM and Midnight. This is a non-sens since it means TWO nights of robbery...

    Strategy:

Play on "Easy Mode" since we will need time to prepare the combo.

If you get x2 bonuses, remove them and try at least to have two 4x bonuses. Also try to get dynamites of different colors so as to remove (almost) all blocks when you do the combo. When blocks will reappear, you have to hope that some blocks will go away so as to increase your points since the combo becomes even better.

When you have everything, place the blocks as shown below:

Rotate the central zone (made up of only dynamites) and see how the blocks inside the black square are arranged. Sadly I didn't have much combo after rotating those dynamites. However I got about 6,000 points and my score jumped above 7,000 points. Blocks marked with a cross won't be removed by the dynamites

    Good Luck

savamal got a reaction from Rune Valentine in A first attempt to understand the new Burrow ability
In order to make my fights against "Death" more interesting, I tried to use the new Burrow ability each time my pet got frozen (it can be used when frozen and moreover is effective even though you have "Tempest" and "Throw pillows", two abilites of "Death", so I guess it also work during "Lens Flare" - need confirm here). So it took me about 350+ fights to get 100 screen shots... (hard to be frozen during a boss battle...)

    Anyway, a first intro:
    Differences between "Burrow" and "Shade"

Shade (requires level 5) always randomly choose 3 icon types added to your defence. For my spoilt pet (defence boost of 12), I get 8 x 12 = 96 damages reduced per randomly given icon type. Note that since it is random, you can be unlucky and get defence for icons that your opponent doesn't use on the turn you use this ability... Shade has a cool down effect so you can use it several times during a fight (if the fight last long enough for you to reuse that ability)

Burrow (requires level 100) defends between 0 up to 3 icon types added to your defence and those icon types are random but will always be of the kind your opponent is using during the turn you use this ability, EXCEPT PHYSICAL ICONS (Burrow fully block all other icon types).

Since Physical icons aren't blocked at all, I consider those as "invisible" for the ability (but not for your damages).

    Then, out of my 100 screen shots, I have 32 that deal with a single type of icon (+physical);

Boss on Mighty has a strength boost of 32.
Top screen shot, Burrow doesn't block any icons, damages taken: 2x32 = 64
My spoilt pet has a defence boost of 12. So 4 Fire icons x 32 = 128 damages fully blocked by 11 x 12 = 132 defence (the number of Fire icons can be rounded below or above the damages, but the difference is ignored)
Bottom screen shot, Burrow doesn't see Physical icons, fully blocks Fire icons

    Stats (need more testings):
The icons are NOT blocked: 14/32 = 44%
One icon type is fully blocked: 18/32 = 55%

    What about two icon types?

Top screen shot: Burrow fully blocked Air icons only (Tempest doesn't do 6 Air icons...)
Bottom screen shot: the Ultra Bubble Gun is fully blocked, only Physical icons from Yoyo of Death remain

Stats (need more testing, didn't get a lot of them, maybe because of "Death")
The icons are NOT blocked: 0/5 = 0%
One icon type is fully blocked: 3/5 = 60%
Two icon types are fully blocked: 2/5 = 40%

When the opponent deals with 3 different icons:

From top to bottom: No icons blocked, only Air icons fully blocked, Water and Light icons fully blocked and all icons (Air, Water and Earth) fully blocked (hence the zero damages taken)

    Stats (need more testings):
The icons are NOT blocked: 1/55 = 2%
One icon type is fully blocked: 29/55 = 53%
Two icon types are fully blocked: 21/55 = 38%
Three icon types are fully blocked: 4/55 = 7%

When the opponent deals with more than 3 different icon types (Physical icons ignored), then it seems that it is easier to block icon types with the new Burrow ability

    Stats (need more testings):
Two icon types are fully blocked: 5/8 = 63%
Three icon types are fully blocked: 3/8 = 37%

When the "normal" challengers are back, I will do some more testings.

FIghter: Drago_Boss (strength boost: 15, defense boost: 9.75)
Opponent: The Drenched (strength boost: 13)

    Starting situation:

Drago_Boss starts with 523 Health points

Round 1: Hubrid Nox Memorial Shield + Bow of Destiny + Drain Life

The Drenched healed 66 Health points which were taken by Drain Life only.
    Drago_Boss: 523 Health points - 108 damages + 66 Health points from Drain Life = 481 Health points.

Round 2: Hubrid Nox Memorial Shield + Bow of Destiny + Meditate

Hubrid Nox Memorial Shield doesn't defend against Dark icons, Drago_Boss takes 3x13 (strength boost of The Drench) = 39 damages.
    Drago_Boss: 481 Health points - 39 damages + 4 Health points from Meditation = 446.

Round 3: Hubrid Nox Memorial Shield + Bow of Destiny + Burrow

Hubrid Nox Memorial Shield fully blocked the Physical icons (5x9.75 > 2x13)
Burrow only fully blocked the Fire icons. Thus only Dark icons remain: 8x13 = 104 damages
Meditation is working FOR ANOTHER ROUND!!!
    Drago_Boss: 446 Health points -104 damages + 4 Health points from Meditation = 346 Health points

Round 4: Hubrid Nox Memorial Shield + Bow of Destiny (no more abilities)

    Sadly Meditation stopped working
Well the result of this battle is quite obvious...

    WARNING!

I used my blessing to teach my spoilt pet "Burrow". I also wanted "Float" and when I picked it, I lost "Burrow"... So it's only one ability per range.

Moreover, when you pick an ability, the requirements for all abilities in that range are reduced so it costs less to test or change the ability

During the Battle, you can use your ability once.

Finally, if you want to see your "active" abilities, you have to go to the stats page

For now, the new Battledome has plenty of glitches. And Prickly Potion is concerned by one of them. So until all glitches are fixed, you can safely put it in your SDB

You mention the Hubrid Nox Memorial Shield. However, if you're interested into a full light blocker, then consider the Parasol of Unfortunate Demise.

You should take part into plots. At the end, you can get some good weapons as prizes, namely:

Brynns Legendary Sword of Wraith Smiting (12.75 attacker)

Hanso Charisma Charm (dual-duty, 10 iconer and full dark blocker)

    Ylanas Blaster (12.60 attacker)

Ring of the Lost (dual-duty, 10 iconer and full dark blocker)

    ...

This year (I mean 2012), the Altador Prize Shop gave out
a 13 iconer (Altador Cup Throwing Star) for 13k Altador points (i.e. you should have reached rank 17 to get one)

Otherwise, there are other 13 iconers that you can get (for free) from Neoquest II in Insane Mode (Bow Of Destiny or Wand Of Reality)

In your BD set, you should consider a freezer, namely the Randomly Firing Freeze Ray (4 iconer or freezer at rate of 50%)

^ This link calculates the damages your pet can deal, based on its strength boost

Since stances are not available at the moment, you must select "Cautious Attack" twice (since this stance multiplies the damages dealt by 1.0)

And the strength/defense boosts works like this (taken from http://battlepedia.thedailyneopets.com/index.php/articles/viewarticle/battle-strength-defense-boosts/):
    Strength/Defence points: Strength/Defence boost
    1-7: 0.50
    8-12: 0.75
    13-19: 1.00
    20-34: 1.25
    35-54: 1.50
    55-84: 2.00
    85-124: 2.50
    125-199: 3.00
    200-249: 4.50
    250-299: 5.50
    300-349: 6.50
    350-399: 7.50
    400-449: 8.50
    450-499: 9.75
    500-549: 11.00
    550-599: 12.00
    600-649: 13.00
    650-699: 14.00
    700-749: 15.00
750+: 16.00 (with the new Battledome)

It's rather hard to say what to invest because the current beta version modifies the behavior of some special weapons (using strength of opponent for instance), doesn't use stances or pet's natural resistances. Don't know if some changes will be permanent or not. But considering my advices, you might have time before investing into some better weapons/items.

HOWEVER, I strongly suggest you to invest into a better stealer, namely the Heavy Robe Of Thievery. Why? Because with the new Battledome, you can steal any item from your opponent, can be a useless junk or the Jade Scorchstone, Pirate Captains Cutlass and so on (note: you won't get them after the fight ;) ) According to the item you've stolen, you can have other strategies. BUT, to be able to use this stealer, you need to raise your Move up to 201! Sneggs can help (and give additional health points)

I have never been a fan of Bombs, which are a once-per-battle item. And since we cannot use stances... I prefer multiple-use items, even though they deal less damages. In the long run you can rely on those. EIther try the Neoquest II in Insane mode to hope for the 13-iconer Bow of Destiny or Wand of Reality (if you don't want to spend Neopoints). You can also try to buy one (or Brynns Legendary Sword of Wraith Smiting or Ylanas Blaster from previous plots)

And for the Double Dryer, well it's a situational weapon. If you KNOW your opponent mainly uses weapons dealing with Air icons, then you can use it. So always check the battle set of your opponent before so as to know which reflector is best suited to counter her/his weapons. You should avoid opponents who reflect Water icons since your best weapon is Kelpbeards Trident and you have nothing to protect your pet from Water icons

At the current time, level doesn't matter because we don't have stances.
As Karina said, when your pet's level is 50+, you can use Berserk, a stance that multiply the damages your pet is dealing by 1.5
Having a pet's level of 250+ enables him/her to train at the secret ninja school

But keep in mind that the pet's level is the basis for raising your other stats.
If you plan to lab your pet, then you'll get uneven stats with huge HP, decent Strength, average agility/movement, poor defence and level
In Mystery Island, either the "normal" training school or the secret ninja school allows you to follow courses and train stats which depends on your pet's level
You can train Strength, Defence, Agility/Movement up to twice your pet's level
You can train HP up to thrice your pet's level

Now everthing depends on your strategy: are you planning to have a pet with unbalanced stats (labbing your pet only) or train him/her to have even stats ?

Don't forget that you also can access to the Ninja Weaponry when your pet's level is 250+

Thick Smoke Bomb (one use only) is an equivalent of Thyoras Tear
Jade Elixir (one use only) is an equivalent of Jade Scorchstone or Leaded Elemental Vial

Those items at the Secret Ninja Training School can be very usefull during plots (if you don't possess those very expensive items)
