crazy_cat_luv_bb
Wow! The username jakery733 won 4 times in just two day ??!! :whaa:
LillytheGrundo
I have to admit I've often wondered this myself.... Maybe not rigged but something in those people's user names that the computer looks for... I don't know...
miemieh
Maybe he wished 1000 times, for only a few NP. This way his chance of winning is... huge. (This is just a theory)
poptart123
Considering I have never got something I wished for at the wishing well (both on this account and my old one from 10 years ago) Seeing someone win that many times just makes me sad. You would think TNT would have some sort of filter to prevent that from happening so it was "fair". Guess not though :(
miemieh
Also, don't expect a fast response...the well sleeps for 18 hours a day. Maybe some people know the exact time the well is 'awake'. Or when you have to wish to get a prize. And, the Jake person who's getting all the bags of peanuts, is selling them all on the Trading Post.. So he just uses the items to make NP. karmacow
You can wish either 6 or 7 times per cycle, but I didn't think you could win more than once. That's definitely not right. Lamppost
Rebecca~
I agree, that is not right. Each user can have 7 wishes per cycle- 7am-7pm, then 7pm-7am. :/
missjustina
Oh wow, thats messed up D: I'm not sure about it being rigged though.. I think it could possibly be a coincidence.
Angeló
u can only make 7 wishes per cycle and i don't think there's an exact time the well is "awake" ... i've won a couple times before and I always put in my wishes at very random times ... but this guy has to be incredibly lucky , or a super cheater lol ... Rebecca~
I don't know how you would be able to cheat the wishing well... so either very lucky or there was a glitch with it.
miemieh
Okay, I just sended about 200 wishes. I'm curious if I will get something. If so, we know the Wishing Wells (and the guy called Jake)'s secret.
Spritzie
I don't think it's rigged at all. When you think about it, it seems logical that it would happen, though maybe not frequently. If you think of each wish as your name being written on a piece of paper and placed in a bowl to be picked at random, with each wish, up to 6 or 7 times whatever the limit is, being another paper with your name, if there's X number of papers pulled out, no matter how small the chance, there is always the possibility that your name could be selected twice, or more, since your name would be on up to 6-7 papers in the bowl. Angeló
I agree Spritzie .. but that has to be one small bowl ... the Wishing Well gets thousands of wishes :D lucky duck is lucky i suppose :D
hrtbrk
I haven't checked when he won, but if he's betting at 6am (whatever it is with Daylight Savings), Spritzie's theory is more and more likely as there will be less people wishing in that time period. There are tricks to the Wishing Well. Sounds like he's aware of them. Rebecca~ and Angeló
flyingeevee
From my experience, there was ONE time where I won TWO of the exact same stamp that I wished for 7 times. I kept one and sold the other of course xP It's just incredible luck, like with the Dream Pet Christmas Giveaway so he probably just got very lucky since there's a randomizer for whenever someone puts down neopoints for a wish. Plus they're probably aware of the times as are other people. Rebecca~, Nika and Lamppost

If so, we know the Wishing Wells (and the guy called Jake)'s secret. FYI, this won't do you much good. The Wishing Well only counts your first 7 wishes. After that, you're just donating NP. I have to go with Spritzie on this one. However unlikely, it's possible for a person's name to get chosen multiple times in a day because that person has multiple entries. I only wish once a day, so a person who wishes 7 times a day has 7 times the chance of winning that I do, and has a chance to win two times in a day, whileI don't have a chance of that. Hmm, I might have to start wishing more times a day! :nerd: Nika
Nika
I heard that if you ask people to make a string of 20 or so random numbers, they are FAR less likely to include bits like 1234567 or 444444, for example, than a computer program asked to do the same. In the same way, I bet people are much less likely to pick one user 4 times than the computer is. So this doesn't seem unfair to me. It's just a quirk we wouldn't predict because we're people and bad at imagining what truly "random" odds look like. Lamppost

If it worked i was 500K richer. :P
ZaneScene
I'm not even to sure on how the wishing well even works. Is it that you give more nps and your chances of winning go up?
Nika
Nope, Zanescene, the odds don't go up. You have to give 21 NP minimum per wish for it to count, and it only listens to the first 7 times you wish in each 12 hour period. Here's the TDN article with more info. hanalways
Despite the statistics, probability and random factor of donating to the wishing well and getting the wish, I still think that there should be a limit put on the wishing well. Four times in a day just feels like a slap in the face who haven't won anything at all, even though they do try. I don't think that it's rigged, I don't think that there was any special tricks rather than luck and guesswork at the awake times and donating 7 times, but I would advocate for change that it doesn't happen again. And it would be easy enough to write a code that recognizes an username and reject it depending on the wish they made within the first 24 or whatever hours of winning a previous wish. Artios
IIRC, Always donate 21NP or more because anything lower won't be officially accepted. I think at 6AM/PM NST, the wishes are granted, not exactly sure though. And lastly, wish for items that are a rarity of 89 or lower. Anything higher won't be granted. Just make it a part of your daily and you'll get something. Emily
Lamppost
Mere days after I started wishing 7 times a day, my wish was granted. It's definitely worth my while.
