Does anyone else dislike the new Battledome? I know there are some improvements such as rewards, but overall it just feels like it wasn't worth the update.

 

Part of me feels this way because I considered the old version to be one of the last remnants of the 'old Neopets'.

 

How do you feel?

I actually quite like it at the moment. I was never a battledomer - but being able to actually watch an animated fight with rewards is more appealing to me.

I don't dislike it, but I would have been just as happy, had they added rewards to the old battledome.

I'm not a fan of it at all. Not that I really used the battledome before, but I agree with you that it was one of the remaining remnants of the old neopets. It feels like their purging all of the old neopets out.

I am really happy to see them using HTML5 canvas for the battledome. It could use a bit less confirming button when you want to start a fight, but otherwise it's nice.

 

If most websites have kept using the same technologies as when they were launched in the 90's, the Internet would not be what it is today. Change is good :P

I really like it! It'll be better once all the glitches are worked out, obviously, but I like it! :)

I really like the new battledome, and I like they way it gives out items and money now. I was never a battledomer before but now I do use it. I feel like it's more user friendly too.

I agree. It takes some getting used to, and it could use a few less confirmations like Xepha said and take less time to load, but overall I think it was a good improvement.

I really like the new battledome a lot! I just recently started training my pets for that reason alone. Before that, I never used the BD.

I actually like it a lot. I was never into the Battledome before and had no interest in it- now it looks like something I might be interested in :)

I could take it or leave it. The new motions and stuff are cool. The turns go a bit faster I think. But I would've liked to see some aspects of the old BD kept. Such as being able to equip from the inventory page. Or keep it compatible with older browsers. I use Windows Xp at present, and IE9 is not an option as it can't work on XP. So when I battle I need to open up firefox to avoid most of the glitches. I just don't care for the layout of the "modern browsers". LOL

Also, if they're going to have a reward system and message, TNT really needs to fix whatever it is that happens when the message comes up that you've been rewarded for victory (without displaying any items) and that the items are in your inventory. Yet when you check, no items are there. r sometimes, they are even though they didn't show up in the victory message.

 

I hope they put stances, pet abilities and faerie abilities back in as well. If they hadn't figured those out more, they maybe should have put the new BD on hold and kept the old one up for a bit longer until they had the abilties and such planned out.

 

But those are just my opinions. ;)

Most of those things are things TNT has said they will bring back. :D Equipping from inventory, and Faerie abilities for sure, and I'm sure that stances will be back in one way or another.

 

But yeah, I would like to see the glitches with the prizes fixed, but we're still in beta. All of that will be done before it's released completely.

Ah ok, I haven't gone through the full beta news in a while so I guess I missed that info. Good to know they'll be bringing some of the battling aspects back from the old BD system. BETA, though, can be a VERY long time. I play another game, it's pretty much text-based, called Darkthrone. While the final version was released a few years ago, The BETA version of the game, though locked to prevent new players and strain on that server, is still going fairly strong. Been playing that for 7 and a half years. This is of course, special consideration by the programmers at Lazarus software. Because so many people liked the BETA test over what DT Gold is. My point is, "BETA" can last for a very long time, and I HOPE that TNT has a short time frame for finishing the new BD. Short, but giving them the time they need to get most of the bugs out of the system. ;)
