Just looked up what a powwow is, sounds pretty cool.

I'll also be having a great weekend! It's 3 days, for some reason, but I'm not complaining.

I miss band. That was always one of my favorite things about middle school.

I only did one year of Jazz Band. They didn't offer Jazz Band until 8th grade, which is when I joined. I quit band completely going into HS, because they required all band members, even Jazz Band, to march and be at all of the football games. That was not remotely what I wanted, so I quit. (And really haven't played any of my instruments since. I think one is still collecting dust in my closet.)

Hi TDNers~ I just had a chai latte and am now waiting for my last class of the day. 12 hour days at college aren't fun...

I wish I could join jazz band! I play violin, though, and that's not typically a staple of jazz ensembles, haha. Though I have played with one in the past!

There is a mariachi ensemble here, though, that's looking for violins and I've been considering joining...but I think I've got enough music to learn as it is :(

:O I love chai lattes. Now I'm craving one. I'm wondering if it's a good or bad thing that there's a Starbucks on my way home.

I originally couldn't join Jazz Band. I played flute, which doesn't have a place in a jazz band either. But I taught myself tenor saxophone so I could join. (The Jazz Band was in need of saxophone players, so the director was more than happy to be patient while a few of us learned.)

Oh man, band was always so much fun. It was never really my top priority but I'm glad I took it. I played clarinet and then bass clarinet, and when I started jazz band I decided to learn the trombone. Huge switch. :laughingsmiley:

Band/music was always a big thing in my family. My dad played 3 instruments (Trombone, tuba and baritone) and traveled around with a marching band, my mom played violin, my grandma (Dad's mom) played trumpet and received a college scholarship for it, and my grandpa (Dad's dad) was a band director for the US Navy as well as a local HS.

I started out with flute when I was in 5th grade, then in 6th grade, I added piccolo. I didn't add the tenor sax until 8th grade and only because I wanted to join the jazz band. It was fairly similar, so it wasn't too hard.

Band definitely was my favorite class. I made so many friends there, and had so much fun. Jazz band was considered the "special" band, so we traveled around for contests as well as going to grade schools along with the Show Choir and advanced orchestra, trying to get kids interested in joining music classes when they moved to middle school.

Chai is a very very spicy tea (spicy as in, it contains lots of spices; not like chili pepper spicy, haha) that is just creamy and wonderful and quite the awesome treat for your tastebuds :D the Starbucks chai latte is a blend of that tea, and I like to get it with ice. Just be warned that once you try one, you might never want to stop drinking them :shiftyeyes_anim: I'm starting to form a bad habit of buying one before my evening class on Mondays and Wednesdays...

I describe chai tea as an almost pumpkin spice. The concentrate is mixed in with milk, so some places call them milk teas.

I get mine iced too. I've only gotten a hot one once. It's not as good, I don't think. And that's definitely a fair warning! My mom's friend got her addicted to them at least 15 years ago, and my mom buys the concentrate for home and make one nearly every morning. (An added bonus for when I stop by to see her, I get one too.) Then my mom got me addicted quite a few years ago as well, though I don't get them as often.

I might have to try one soon. We have a Starbucks on my campus so it would be pretty convenient. I would probably definitely get it iced, I'm not a fan of most warm drinks at all, even in the winter.

I'll be taking my boyfriend to work soon and then heading to the post office. I sold one of my scarves and so I'm mailing it today.

I will be enjoying a domino's pizza in exactly 45 minutes... Unless its delivered late or early.

Scunner about your recent phone bereavement but at least you've moved on quickly and found love as a result - even if it is love for a mobile telephonic communication device. :laughingsmiley:

Never heard of these breakfast buffets before :whaa: they sound pretty neat!

Pancakes and syrup for dinner? Don't mind if I do!

Mmm pizza. I'm going to a breakfast buffet tonight!

Which iphone did you end up getting Lou? 4, 4s or 5?

I ended up getting the 4s :) just because when the new ones come out I always read/see things on Twitter about how there's so many bugs/errors and it takes a good few weeks for them to fix things. I'd rather just have a brand new working 4s! :D
