Unstream Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 If you want, you can use this website to check: http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ It's usually correct, though sometimes I've had it report that a site was down even though it really wasn't. Quote
Wembly Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 It was soooo freaking cold here this morning. Like, below 32. During gym a water pipe broke and flooded part of the parking lot. An hour later the whole thing was FROZEN. Hehe, that's kind of amusing. I'm sure it made a big mess but still, a giant ice rink sounds fun. Also, I'm amused that it was warmer here than there. Quote
Ruto Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Adding to the cold weather discussion, we've missed the past two days of school AND we will miss tomorrow because the whole area is pretty much frozen. And we're expecting more snow tomorrow, so no one can get the roads clear. While this pretty friggin' sweet, I have to wonder how we're going to make up for these missed days in the future. XD Quote
Unstream Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Lucky. I have to go to school this morning. Man, it's so annoying waking up on time xP Quote
livvy Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Well hey, at least you got days off. :P Though I'm actually lucky we didn't have to take snow days, because we're already pushing our make-up day limit, so if we missed any more, we'd have to cut Spring Break to make them up. And I have an awesome Spring Break planned, so I'm not giving that up. Quote
rugrat0ne Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 They cut spring break on you? Usually they just make the kids stay later in the summer around here. Quote
Wembly Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 The kids by us last year missed so many days that their spring break got cut short and they had to go extra days in the summer. Quote
Manta Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Geez that's crazy :O My old school district rarely gave out snow days. And my college gave a snow day last year for the first time in 9 years. So we've never really had that problem of having to make up days. In elementary school, they used to cut spring break a bit short if we went over though :/ Quote
Spritzie Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 For quite a few years, my school district had a superintendent from Alaska, so it wasn't often we got snow days. We did have one year when I was in 5th grade, where we'd had so many snow days, they had to extend the year by a couple days. Quote
Tyler. Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 I've been sick all this week so I'm not at school I've never even seen snow Quote
Wembly Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 eww, boo for being sick. And that's crazy that you've never seen snow :ohno: really, it's overrated though <_< Quote
Luciana Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Last school year we had a make-up day near the end of June, because we had too many snow days. (No one showed up) Quote
Spritzie Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 My school was afraid that would happen, so they sent notes to the parents, offering some kind of special coupon deal to those kids who showed up. In my class, only one kid didn't show up. Quote
Divya Bean Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 That happened to us last year. There was this giant blizzard in December so we got 4 days off (they should've just given us Monday off as well :laughingsmiley: ) and then they extended the year. They made it so that everyone had to show up because graduation was on the day AFTER the extended days. <_< Quote
IrishLiz Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Growing up in the desert, I have never had a snow day! I suppose they might have them up north though. Quote
Spritzie Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Here, they build in snow days, that way if there are a few, it's not a big deal. But that one year, we had more than they allowed for. Quote
Unstream Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Oh we just tack them on at the end of the year. It's never been a problem for any of us here, especially since we usually get out rather early compared to other schools. We don't have that many breaks during the school year, and I think this year we only had one scheduled snow make-up day, so there's probably at least 2 or 3 days tacked on to the end of the year already. Sofa Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 The only day of high school that I missed because of snow was an INSET day so we weren't meant to be in anyway, it was quite disappointing. Quote
:)Doc Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 We just had a snow day.... TODAY! :D Do y'all remember the gameboy color? Guess who you know who has one, now?! :laughingsmiley: Quote
-Ryan Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 Chuck Norris? :O Lol, today was an extremely fun day for me. 8D How was today for everyone else? Quote
Tyler. Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 RYAN, either you need to be more active or I do I'm still sick, so I've just been playing video games all day Quote
-Ryan Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 I can't tbh... xD Aw, that sucks. Sorry 'bout that. Quote
Masaryk Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 Yeah. C'mon, Ryan! Be more active! Tyler and the rest of HOP are counting on you! Quote
-Ryan Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 Sorry, I don't have a whole lot of spare time anymore, though. xD Quote
Masaryk Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 You know I'm kidding, right? We all get busy sometimes. Quote
