I had to turn off my ad blocker for the ad to appear. Makes sense now that I typed it out like that, but maybe that'll help somebody.

Neopets is back up! Like everyone else, I lost the opportunity to battle or volunteer yesterday, but both battles and working in the hospital are working like before for me. Trudy's surprise didn't reset for me, but I think I may have gotten it in before the outage yesterday, so that may be different for other players. My weekly quest started over because I couldn't finish my daily quest yesterday which is unfortunate, but at least the weekly prize didn't change.

still down 4 hours in (11pm NST). No chance of finishing my daily quest today

Well that's an interesting glitch!
discobiscuit replied to GillyTook's topic in Neopets General Chat
This happened to me two days in a row, but I noticed it fast enough I could cancel and re-assign my second neopet to the job. It happens when I'm in a hurry and click the join button before the page completely finished loading. The join button gets drawn first or something and if you click it too early, it seems to assign the first pet a second time. -
Just started mine, so I only have one link so far: Single referral link

I just tried again, (things are slow) and got the "Come back tomorrow" screen, refreshed, and was able to spin normally. Thank you! I'd rather get error messages or something so I know to come back and try again later. A normal person would've just gone away sad and had to start over the next day.

A week ago, neopets was being super slow and odd things happened in the morning, but corrected themselves by the evening. The odd things I noticed included the bank interest was wrong and Trudy's Surprise acting like I'd already spun. These two things definitely happened to me again this morning. I also think Jhudora's quest reset. I'm wondering if other people have noticed weirdness as well? Maybe some internal neopets clock is stuck. Hopefully, things will go back to normal in a few hours like last week.

Also, isn't this kind of a strange warning to send out? It's not like I can get a 7-day quest cycle done in 5 days to beat a deadline. It just seems like added pressure to not miss a day and reset the weekly quest counter.

I know Neopets has had some issues with lag/slowness but this morning (6am NST) was super slow and super weird. One of the weird things was Trudy's surprise loaded as if I had spun it already today and also reset the 28 day cycle. I was only one week into the cycle, so I wasn't too sad about the reset, but I checked just now (7pm NST) and it wasn't reset after all. I was able to spin it and got my proper amount. If you happen to be reading TDN forums after a disappointing Tuesday neopets morning, try again! It may be working now.

I kept thinking "Man, I really need to restart my browser or something, Neopets seems slow" and then, of course, doing nothing. So I thought it was just me!

It's just for today for April Fools Day. A bunch of positive posters appeared, but after you sign the contract, the posters that pop up were distinctly less friendly. I didn't think to save all the ones I saw, but here's another example

I'm old and don't like change, so I thought I'd ask what the kids thought of the Neopass? I'm mostly joking. They didn't put this much effort into a new authentication system without expecting it to be around forever, so I assume at some point I will have to use it. I guess I'm wondering if people are having good experiences and would recommend switching to it now or is it buggy and I should wait?

After years and years of playing, I discovered that if you have the shop wizard open prior to getting a quest, you can do one search after the quest starts. This has helped me immeasurably when using faerie quest fortune cookies or during an event with daily quests since you control when the quest begins, but it also got me into the habit of having the shop wizard open in a tab while I do my dailies.

I did! Mintyfish is at level 503, with strength and defense just above 750. I did move HP up to 1008 but I don't think I'm going to push it to 1500. There's no increase in multiplier after 750 for strength or defense so one could safely stop at level 375, but because I had put HP at 840 on my own, I had to bring level up to at least 420 in order to do anything with strength/defense. Once I did that, I made a goal of getting to level 500 to be able to get the last level of faerie abilities. I'm collecting my bottled faeries for it now. I should mention that by the end, I'd invested into Faerie Quest Fortune Cookies, so I spent the last few months doing a faerie quest every day (sometimes twice - thanks faerie festival!) and upgraded randomly for much of the way and trained to even things out. To be honest, the FQFC path was more fun than the full-time training grind, but you might have to spend real life money for it. There have been in-game gifts of NC lately and I happily spent it all on fortune cookies.

This is 100% true. If you're at level 100, you can train your strength or defense (or movement) up to 200 and your hit points up to 300. However, once you go over 2x with hit points, you can only train hit points further (up to the 3x level maximum). No more strength or defense while you're doing this. I did do this, thinking I wanted it, but I was wrong. In my humble opinion, you should increase HP to 3x at the end of your training journey not the middle! I kept strength, defense, and hit points 2x my level up until about level 280 when I noticed for the first time that one could up the hit points to 3x the level, so I went wild and got my hit points to 840 before I realized I could not train my strength or defense until I reached level 420. All I could do for 100+ days was to train level and nothing else. I have done the math (after doing all this, not before like a sensible person) and depending on where you stop training strength and defense (there's no reason to go higher than 750), it's between 11 and 14% cheaper red codestone-wise to train everything up 2x until you hit level 500 and then increase hp as much as you want. Realize that no matter what, you're in for finding 1200 to 1500 red codestones. Not having to buy 200+ extra codestone is obviously cheaper and will take several weeks less to complete, but that's not why I'm warning against going 3x early. I can tell you the sad grindy-ness of level day after day made me hate the game: If I got to do a faerie quest that gave me 3 HP, I got mad! You should be happy something that would cost 300K np to do cost nearly nothing, but my joy had been ground down to a nub. In those days and days of grinding level out, I passed the Adept and Advanced levels of training, so once I reached the 2x limit, all my progress on strength and defense cost 3 red codestones. I had to skip over the 2 codestone cost entirely. I felt that I'd missed out on the cheaper tier even though mathematically it was only for 14%, it still made me grumble. Maybe if I'd chosen the path purposefully at the start, I wouldn't have felt that way, but all of a sudden realizing I had to level up about 200 times before I could change anything else wore on me. And, of course, some players are going to be fine with it, but I think you're better off knowing what you're up against beforehand. (I'm better now that my pet's levels and stuff are properly aligned)

Neopets Daily & Weekly Quest Thread
discobiscuit replied to Musical_Shoyru's topic in Neopets Dailies
Are you guys seeing weekly quests? I'm not. I thought maybe the weekly quests were completing 7 days of daily quests or something, but I've only got one check mark and I've finished my second day of daily quests. So now I think something may be wrong. Or I'm missing something obvious. For example, I didn't notice that sometimes the quest wants you to do something multiple times like buy an item only there's a little progress bar that says 1 out of 3, so I briefly thought the quest was broken. edit: man, right after I complained here, my weekly rewards tab shows two check marks. So, I'm back to believing the weekly reward comes after completing seven days of daily quests.- 13 replies

If this was really a Charity Corner event, limits would make no sense since the point was to clean up our excess safety deposit box clutter. Were we shown what perks or prizes we could get ahead of time? I don't remember donating to the Charity Corner to get to a specific prize level. To me, this event is really a Faerie event (free quests!) but with a recycling side event to win valuable prizes and that's different. The limits seem to be there to keep players with deep SDB's from snarfing up a billion valuable stamps or battle dome weapons.

An Error occurred when connecting to neopets services!
discobiscuit replied to bonnie_morrison's topic in Neopets Help
I figure they have several servers spread out in different data centers in the world and various web pages go on specific ones. So, it's possible that just some of the neopets pages would be unavailable, but what breaks from our point of view will appear random. It's not something we are doing wrong or can fix. Theories aside, I'm happy to report that I was able to collect interest and spin trudy's surprise, play a game of slushie slinger and also fight in the battledome without any issues. I'm in the US, so maybe those servers are up and working now. -
I had to log out and then log back in again to get the message that I got free NC. I didn't notice my NC balance change until the the next day, although I wasn't looking especially hard.

The text from the free goodie bag from the NC mall mentions it. I opened it already, but I think it was "Y23BIRTHDAY". It gives you 150 NC off a 1,000 NC or more order.
-
Pro tip: if you want to use your birthday discount at the NC Mall and you're thinking of adding some fortune cookies to your order, be sure you do it from inside the NC Mall and not from Noda's fortune cookie shop. At Noda's, you conveniently buy the cookie right then and there and it never goes into your shopping cart and the cart is where you type in your discount code. Just do a search for fortune cookies at the main mall page and then you can do your shopping cart magic.

The default for the forum software TDN uses is 10 reactions/day. They may have it set higher (or lower) but I was curious and did some googling.

OH nos. I did the wrong thing then. I was carefully keeping everything twice my level but got greedy when I "discovered" the three times level limit for HP. Looks like I can't upgrade my attack or defense until I move up 140 levels or so now. Would have been much cheaper to stick with keeping everything twice the level. Let this be a lesson to to kids out there, don't get greedy with ninja training...

Does anyone know the math rules that govern training at the secret ninja training school? I always thought you couldn't go past 2x your level and then one day I was bringing my hit points (endurance) up and it went over the 2x limit. I thought I remembered that you could go to 3x with hit points, so for the past few months, I kept going on hit points, grateful that I noticed this before level 300 where it takes two red codestones per course instead of just one. I got my hit points up to 3x my level a few days ago. Happiness and joy, right? But now, I get this error if I try to train in strength or defense: Error: No statistic can go above twice your pets level (292 x 2 = 584). Your highest statistic is currently Hit Points at 873. Please increase the level of your pet first! I may be able train in endurance because I could before, but I'm not going to because If I'm reading this right, I may be trapped into only updating level until I get to level 437 (which is half of 873)! Does anybody know if this is normal behavior? Was letting me go to 3x hit points a bug? Here are my pet's stats if anybody wants to check the math. Lvl : 292 Str : 580 Def : 579 Mov : 245 Hp : 873 / 873 I think I may be stuck doing level training well into Advanced course types, which requires three codestones, which will be a most unrewarding grind.
