yesadnil got a reaction from redtopaz in What's your skincare routine?
I've really gotten into skincare recently, inspired partially by Reddit's skincareaddiction subreddit.

What's your daily skin care routine? I'd love to hear it!

Does it work for you? Do you have dry/ oily/ acne prone skin? What are your skincare secrets?

    My morning routine:

    Cetaphil wash
    Paula's Choice moisturizer

    Evening routine:

Oil wash with Face Shop Rice Water Cleansing Oil
    Soap wash with Cetaphil
    Estee Lauder toner
Origins Drink it up overnight mask

I started because my very Asian mother is intense about skincare, and looks seriously 35 at the age of 50. I want to start early and take care of skin in my 20s! :)

Then do you deny that fracking has environmental and health concerns? How do you refute the claims in articles such as this one (http://serc.carleton.edu/NAGTWorkshops/health/case_studies/hydrofracking_w.html), outlining the dangers in fracking?

I think it's irresponsible to say "take my word for it, fracking does nothing," when there's so much we don't know about it and it's only been used for a couple dozen years. We used to use DDT before we realized how detrimental that was on the environment.

Its quite unfortunate to have to spend several minutes trying to find out how to "fix" a Neomail that you send to a friend that for some reason Neopets deemed profane. For that reason, I prefer to interact primarily with real life friends and keep Neopets a personal habit.

But, hey, I suppose that the "censorship" isn't ALL that bad. Its part of the reason why Neopians gather here on TDN! Why deal with the Neoboards when you can live in a real forum?  :laughingsmiley:

Wow, I had no idea Neopets censored so strictly! I stopped posting on the boards after feeling like some people were largely spammy in nature and generally unpleasant company...

Do they just not let you post your message? Does that word get blocked out? What happens?

I take some other things into account before approving a lend. Generally, if you're way over in some requirements, I don't mind some of the others being a little under. Since your account is quite old, I'd be willing to let the trophy requirement slide a bit. The ones I usually don't budge on are the account age (unless you're a couple months under or something) and the amount of collat, as it's a really pricey item, and the amount we're asking is only 1/7 of it's value, so I don't really feel comfortable taking less.

Haha I feel like it's adorable in OP's situation, but I know that in my own life, my boyfriend would be thoroughly unseduced by my sweet reteling of Neopets lore, no matter how much I place his name into the story.

Thank you Mouseykins! It feels like TDN has an article and guide on everything! It's super magical.

As it'll take me some time to reach the 20 mil collateral goal, as well as the 500 forum post count, I should use those months/ years to boost my trophies, and perhaps prey on the better computers of my friends to reach those goals. ^_^ Thank you!!

I really cannot agree more with your emphasis on sunscreen! My mother would tell me to put on sunscreen all the time, I associate sunscreen with "going to the beach," so I would never use sunscreen. But sun damage is really one of the worst things you can do to your skin.

This article on sunburns in the Scientific American describes that sunburn is literally your skin cells committing suicide because their DNA has been damaged and they're trying to prevent you from getting skin cancer. It really puts all those times I peeled my sunburns for fun into perspective....

Moral of the story: the sun is trying to kill you.

By looking at you're lookup I believe you need 16 trophies. There's quite a few that are relatively easy to get such as the card game trophies. If you can get Attack of the Slorgs to work that one is pretty easy too. We do have a guide for easy trophies you can take a look at and fill in the gaps with those and some other games you're good at. sometimes slower machines are good at the flash games. Mostly if you participate in site events such as the Altador Cup, Daily Dare and Games Master Challenge (should be one at the end of November), each year that will gain you some extra trophies too. Good luck earning your collateral and upping your trophies count.

When I was growing up, my Mom had skin cancer a couple of times (the nasty, deadly kind), and she'd always harp on me to wear sunscreen, but I never really did and got some really bad sunburns as a result. I'm 24 and now I'm beginning to heed her advice. *facepalm* If only I could go back in time and smack some sense into myself!! Now I'm completely obsessed with my skin and aging. I dread getting wrinkles! I have no idea what my skin type is, but I'm pretty sure it's not dry. Maybe normal?

    Here's my routine:
Dr. Wood's Shea Vision Black Soap (AM and PM)
Thayer's Rose Petal and Witch Hazel Toner (AM and PM)
Olay Total Effects Anti-Aging Daily Moisturizer w/ SPF 30 (AM only)
Olay Active Hydrating Beauty Fluid (PM only)
Desert Essence 100% Pure Jojoba Oil (Great for removing makeup and it's really gentle)

I'm not really loyal to any one particular brand or product, but I have to say I really like Olay's products and that toner I mentioned above; they seem to play nicely with my skin. I always wear something with at least SPF 30 in it, even if it's cloudy or rainy out. My pasty skin laughs at lesser SPFs. Someone once told me that even tanned skin is damaged skin and I never forgot it. Also, I always wash my face at night, even if I'm only half awake and I desperately want to crawl into bed. I used to be really lazy about it, but then I got into the habit and my skin has improved a lot and I don't break out as much.

Not too long ago I purchased a parasol to use outside when it's really sunny out. It keeps the sun off my face and I'm not as hot as a bonus! I'm still getting over my embarrassment of using it, but it's really pretty and I'm glad I bought it.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I use a Clarisonic w/ a "sensitive skin" brush head in the mornings to exfoliate.

I think as the current generation ages, there will be a shift of gender expectations. For example, in my parents' generation, women inhabited the domestic sphere. It's unfair and shouldn't be the case, but things are slowly changing as things like "stay at home dad" and "paternal leave" come into being. :) It's a gradual move in the right direction.

When I was younger I never told anyone, except my cousin who is two year younger than me. She has an account but I don't think she plays anymore. My neodeck is named after her and I think I named my first pet after her hahaha. That's how close we were. So no judgement there.

I made my mom sign up yesterday because she said she needed new games and wanted to know what ones I was playing. So I showed her, gave her my referal link (ch-ching 100 NPS!) and she signed up. I don't know if she's playing or not but hopefully.

I tried to get my niece into it but she's says she's too old. She's 20, which only makes her 6 years younger than me (at present. In Jan she'll be 5 years younger than me). WHOMP WHOMP WHOMP.

I used to care but I've developed a philosophy in life that I think will apply here. "I do what I want, if you don't like it, BYE!"

    Also, welcome back!

    Welcome to TDN :D

It's always great to see players from a long time ago come back and enjoy the site all over again. I've been playing for 12 years myself and I took a long, long break. Ironically, it wasn't until I got married that I started playing again.

Personally, I spent the most time on Neopets when I'm at work. We have a lot of downtime and we're allowed to do whatever we want, as long as it's not inappropriate, so Neopets is the perfect fit. I've always been honest about playing and all of my coworkers (Which is a pretty even split of around my age of late 20s and those in their mid to late 40s) and my managers know I play. I've never once been teased. My coworkers either have heard of it due to their kids/friends playing, or have shown an interest in it and asked me what it's like. I actually had one coworker in his mid 40s start playing since he saw how much time I spend on it.

I've kinda learned over my life that it doesn't matter what you do, there will always be people that judge and feel the need to make fun of someone for something. If you enjoy it, that's what matters. Ignore everyone else. That's what I've done, instead of acting embarrassed, I've been open and confident about it and no one has said a word to me.

Oh, I hate luck avatars :( I'm trying for the Discarded Plushie and Snowager, and Wheel of Knowledge AND Treasure Island for ages! And now we have another one, the new Kiko daily, to get on my nerves :)

But yes, I spent tens of thousands of NP on the lever of doom. Maybe 60 or 70K :(

If neopets EVER awards me the buried treasure or deserted tomb avatars, my head will probably explode!

I spent about 40k on the lever of doom. I found this a while back in the neopian times:
"When the Lever of Doom obtains 100,000 neopoints from different Neopians, the Grundos decide to award the 100,000 neopoint "donator" a gift, which, is, indeed, the avatar!"

I did not want to ever have to see that stupid robot hand again, so I opened two windows side by side and pulled in both of them just to try and get it over with - and that's what worked for me!
There are a lot of people who spent over 100k on it, though.

That stupid Kelp Avi. I felt so bad for my Pet. I went with her being more than bloated and I bought one thing from every menu, then went back and bought two things hoping I'd get it and nothing. I don't even want to think how much money I spent.

Hello! Wanted to introduce myself to everyone and say hello. ^__^

I've played Neopets for almost 12 years now, and probably one of the older players.

I stopped for a while when I was in college, but now that I'm in grad school, decided to check back in again. I wanted to reflect on how amazing the website it, and how it's grown. The world of Neopets is now so large, so embedded with characters and history and small quirks that only regular players know....it's remarkable how far it's come in the last decade!

I love it so much. I love the games, the humor, the community, the low maintenance. I'm terrible at all the games, but it's still fun to play them and hone your skills.

So a question for the Neopet players out there...how do you integrate Neopets into your normal lives? Personally, I've never told anyone that I play Neopets. My sister saw me playing it once, 5 years ago, and she judged me so hard and mocked me so much that I felt really insecure and never told another soul ever again. How about you guys?
