We decorate our yard full of ghouls, ghosts, witches, and tombstones--we always have the scariest house on the block. Many of the decorations are animatronics that move and talk, and we use a fog machine to make it even eerier.   We gave out bubblegum shaped like eyeballs!  Most of the kids and adults love it, but a couple of the younger children were afraid to come to the door, so we brought them candy at the edge of the yard.
 
I found this video online; I didn't record this video but it is one of the animatronics we exhibit in our yard (we have more than just this one).  It will give an example of the kinds of ghouls that we exhibit.   He really does look like this!   

It's not just foods....anything with a high rarity is suddenly more expensive--toys, weapons, books, etc.  I suspect it's a result of the charity corners--I think people are realizing that stuff with 90+ rarity was worth a lot more during these events and are stocking up for next time.

I saw a scamander at the money tree today (of course, it wriggled through my fingers and escaped).  I'd forgotten that they only show up once a year, October 12.  They're VERY hard to catch, and remember that they will count toward your ten daily money tree items, even if they escape. 
 
Good luck catching one.  Does anyone know if there there any tricks to catching one?  

I think so.  Zombie Handbook is a 90; Brightvale Castle book is a 94.  I guess people are hoping that donating five items with 90-99 rarity will result in a random  very rare item. 
However, it's pretty risky if you're spending nearly 250,000 NP every time you donate.   

Make sure you don't get so busy with Charity Corner that you ignore your "dailies".  I picked up a zombie handbook from Grave Danger and a Brightville Castle from King Hagan (Wise old king).  Normally these are not particularly valuable, but with current charity corner inflation, they're worth nearly 50,000 NP each.

When you think about it, 1000 NC and 10,000 NP is a really low prize, considering all the millions of NP spent by anyone who donated 2100 times!  I realize that they also received a random item, but after the inflation, I doubt they ended up ahead.

I figured it was someone just playing games with us, lol. It messed with my head when I got the item, that's for sure! I was like, "mystery item?! Ooh! Wait what...but that's a... :eh:...WHAT IS GOING ON!

I guess this kind of glitch is fairly common.  I keep noticing another glitch in the igloo garage sale; there is an item for sale in the upper left with no image that frequently shows up for 3 NP.  I tried buying it, but nothing appeared in my inventory. 

It was a yooyuball pizza the one time that I got it. I don't have the item now, but I didn't use it...so it is mysterious! lol.

There's a thread on reddit about it [i would post it but I'm afraid it'll show up as a bad link].
It's pretty easy to find via google search, and it looks like a few other people got this glitch. 
For some it shows up in their inventory as the "yooyuball pizza" and some didn't get anything at all :(

So I'm not sure as a whole? Seems like a glitch - someone on that thread also mentioned translation/name problems.

Since you've already bought it, I suggest you use it on one of your pets and get the Magical Kauvara avatar!  You get that one from using any morphing potion on your pets.  That way, you'll feel better about what you spent, and have something to show for it.
 

Argh--doesn't a bag of peanuts cost around 100K  NP?  I can't blame you for being upset.
 
Is it possible that you do in fact have the avatar?  Check your list on your preferences page.  I thought I didn't get one once, and I actually did have it.   The newest ones seem to be at the bottom of the list.  Good luck!

Interesting question. I don't have any inside info. My wait times range from 6 to 8 hours alternating between using a level 1 and a level 4 petpet. I have longer or shorter times with both of them, so I don't see a difference, it seems to be random.

I believe it is random, I use the same petpet and I get a variety of different times. I guess it probably all depends on your luck.

I believe no one offers on your trades because is your "price" is way too high. You are asking for paintbrushes (think 50,000 or more neopoints) but the items you are trading aren't worth that. A full petpet lab map is only worth about 6000 NP. I suggest just asking for "pure NP" or leave the bottom blank and see what people offer.

Suzan I agree to an extent... some of those prices have always been there, but a huge portion are folks clearing out their SDBs and listing items for the current going rates. I'll admit to a certain level of this, though I draw the line at making an item a UB when 2 days ago it was 1 np. Seems borderline outrageous.
