That you can't add accessories nor any clothing item to most invisible pets is not a glitch. Only some invisible pets can wear clothing items and accessories, but they're the minority. Kinda disappointing that TNT won't allow all invisible pets to wear clothing items, but hey, maybe they update the pets someday! ;)

Well, here's my entry (click on the image to view it animated on DTI):



The Deserted Tomb of Geraptiku wasn't always deserted, a long time ago it was actually bustling with activity. Chants, dances, feasts and living sacrifices used to take place there to honour the great God Mumbo Pango. Everything used to be quite peaceful, until Mumbo Pango didn't got his meal one day. He had been eating tasty TNT Staff members for quite some days, but one of them managed to escape after being set free by one of the shaman apprentices that felt pity for the human. This infuriated Mumbo Pango to no end and in revenge for letting the human escape he decided to eat the High-Shaman of the Temple and some of the other shamans. Geraptiku's inhabitants, shocked after this tragic event decided to bury their beloved shamans in the city's temple and never sacrifice more neopets nor humans again. Instead they started to offer Mumbo Pango delicious vegetarian soups, which he ended up loving! Even though the island's inhabitants now lived peacefully with the God as their guardian after that incident, the spirits of the shamans still roams around the temple that now is their tomb. The High-Shaman, now dead, decided alongside the other shamans' spirits that they also were to ensure that the temple never would be used again for sacrifices to Mumbo Pango. To succeed in their mission the shamans decided that they would scare away anyone who comes near the tomb, while cursing those who aren't afraid of the shamans' ghostly apparitions. Not letting those tragic events ever happen again give the spirits some much needed peace of mind in their cursed eternal afterlife... .

And yay education! And I don't know whether you've ever watched/ read Gokusen, but it's amazing. Completely ridiculous, but I get so much passionate inspiration from it. I WILL FACE MY STUDENTS HEAD ON AND THEY WILL KNOW MY TRUE FEELINGS. TOGETHER WE WILL SWEAT FROM THE HEART. It's almost silly how excited I am. Although, I am freaking out a little about exams. In Australia, we graduate a month or so before our final exams, so I'm not quite done yet. I just have to study really hard until then.

 

Have you read the whole poem? It's so lovely. Heaney's command of imagery is just stunning. And yes. As far as I can tell, that's all it is. Taking responsibility for things, doing the hard stuff, and sometimes going it alone. Adults still need fun. Not everything is about work.

Sorry for taking a few days to reply, when I first was about to reply a few days ago TDN went down alongside Neopets' unstable comeback. lol I have a math test in a few days so I'll probably be busy studying until then.

I love manga and anime, but I haven't for the longest time read nor watched much at all. :/ Idk, I suppose stress got the best of me; I'm a little bit disappointed with myself that I've not spent more time doing the things I like, but meh, haven't been able to bring myself to do stuff. Now things are beginning to go the way I want them to, so hopefully I'll be able to start spending more time doing things I like. ;)

I haven't read Gokusen, but just reading the description made it look like a very entertaining manga! I've added it to my bookmarks, so let's see if I start reading it soon.

/haha I don't think it's silly that you're so excited about it, it's great that you are! That's the proof that you've made the right choice. You'll probably be a great teacher! and that's what students need, passionate teachers that cares about their students, all of my yes! :D

I haven't read the whole poem. I used to read the occasional book when I was a kid, but I think that all that compulsory reading in elementary and secondary school and especially the tedious essays and other related work that we had to write about them made me lose most of my interest in reading... . :( Hopefully one day in the near future teachers will have enough resources to adapt the school curriculum to each student's needs instead of having the students suffer through years of pointless schoolwork. Now I take distance classes and man, it's great to be able to arrange my classes schedule and work to this extent! Oh well, back on track! What I was saying was that even though I haven't read the whole poem, just these few lines convey a lot of meaning to them. Creativity is the key to the further advancement of our societies, so not letting adults explore their creative side is not doing our societies any good and it isn't good for the mental health of the adult population either. Adulthood is just that, to be responsible for your actions. That's all it is to it... and all it should be, so it's good to remind yourself that just because you're a responsible adult doesn't mean that you're not allowed to have fun.

Oh, so you still have your final exams left? Don't be nervous, just take it easy and the things you study will stick to you more easily than if you're stressed out. I'm sure you'll approve! ;)

Yeah, most of my friends will continue to be my friends for a long time to come. One of my best friends is moving to England next year to study film, so that's going to be hard. I'm not to worried about the whole adult thing, it's coming to me gradually :P

I'll just keep doing the things I'm doing and skills will come.

 

In my opinion, education is the most important thing. It's what shapes people: Their skills to tackle life's problems, their values for making good decisions. So many of the world's problems would be fixed with a really good education. That director of music I was talking about earlier, she said that she had an ex-student come up to her once who was in the New York orchestra or something like that, and told her that if it weren't for her, she would never have discovered music. Her life was changed by this fantastic teacher. If that happens to me once in my life, I can die happy.

 

Yes! Neopets and MLP. One of my favourite poets wrote about the creative restraints placed on adulthood by society. He said:

It's a fantastic poem. The idea of certain things being 'not grownup' stems I think from insecurity. If someone is afraid of being seen as immature, they're more likely to impose strict rules on other people about what denotes maturity. It's the same with all issues. Gender, cultural identity, sexuality, social class.

Good you're taking it easy with this whole being an adult thing. No need to make it a bigger issue than what it really is. ;)

Education is truly the most important thing, that's why denying access to education is a tool many persons continue to use in order to control others all around the world and it's also hampering the proper development of our societies. So many things would be better with a proper education, it's something painfully obvious and still not enough people understand exactly how important it is. Many people in this day and age in developed countries still thinks that knowing how to read and write is enough, but it's not, education is so much more than that; it's not only the few things you learn in elementary school and the values your family may try to teach you, but it's also to learn to think by yourself, how to put together pieces of information from many different sources and use them to shape your very own view of the world and most importantly, sense of self. As I said before, it's nice to read that at least some people, like yourself want to make a difference in at least one student's life; it can be a life-changing opportunity for a student to have a teacher that opens new doors to them and guide them on that new path full of possibilities.

That's a nice poem with a lot of meaning to it. One thing that hit me and that I thought was quite hilarious once I was old enough to have those kind of thoughts is how adults are just like kids. When I was a kid I thought that adults had to do all this complicated stuff like doing their taxes, work and whatnot, but once I grew up I understood that while adults may seem to be all mature and grown-up, they're really not. They like to have fun, party, joke around and play ...and when they get into conflicts with other people they behave in quite childish ways (to not say worse than children sometimes) in order to solve them. The only things adults do differently is that instead of drinking milkshake they drink coffee, instead of playing a simple card game they play poker and so on. That's something I still find quite amusing when I think about it. :P

Being mature is to be responsible of one's actions and to be able to understand the full consequences of said actions, it's not about dressing in a certain way, doing certain things and behaving in accordance to some archaic social roles... and it's definitely not about trying to impose one's lifestyle on everyone else.

Once again we have managed to make a topic go off on a tangent, but there are so many interesting things to discuss! /haha Oh well, enjoy all the free time you have left until you start studying again, you deserve it! ;)

Congratulations! :D It must be nice to finally have graduated after all those years, even though you'll miss your friends. Nowadays we have the internet, so keeping in touch with your friends is now a lot easier than it was before. :) Don't worry about the endeavors of adulthood, eventually you'll get the hang of it! ;)

It's nice to read that you want to make a difference in the students' lives. Teachers that cares about their students and that are passionate about the subject they're teaching is truly marvelous; those are the type of teachers you'll remember your entire life for how fun it was to learn with them instead of the sour memories of how some not-so-great teachers managed to kill the spark and interest you had in some subject.

I wish you the best! and remember, if ''adulting'' doesn't always seem so fun you can always come to Neopets to relax and have fun! or watch MLP:FiM... or something else entirely! :P Not everything in this life is responsibility, you have to make time to have fun and relax too in order to be a healthy and productive adult! :glasses: /)

With regards to the fonts issue, if you go to chrome://flags, you can opt to disable DirectWrite and the fonts should look as they did before the Chrome update.

 

This of course does not solve the scooted buttons issue, which I'm having as well. But I'll let you know if I find out anything.

Ruto, thank you so much! I didn't even know about that Chrome feature; I had already tried checking my font settings and page encoding, but needless to say nothing of that worked. Now I'll be able to switch back to using Chrome again, maybe not when I'm browsing TDNF since the button positioning is quite annoying, but hey, at least the fonts aren't unpleasant to look at anymore! :thumbsup:

I think it's Chrome, because I noticed my fonts were displaying differently at about the same time I noticed the buttons not being positioned correctly.

Hm.... yes, it could be, but that doesn't explain why I have the same font issue when using IE. :( I never use IE, so maybe the fonts have always looked wrong there, but it is kinda suspicious that both browsers display the same errors, except Firefox. Oh well, I suppose that Firefox has earned back it's title of ''Best Browser'' for the time being (but I still miss Chrome a lot)!

We have the same problem! Although I must add that I have been affected by both that problem and a font display issue simultaneously. The fonts Google Chrome and IE uses doesn't show up as they should on any site, not just on TDN, but on Neopets and other websites too (like Tumblr and Google Search). I haven't installed any new fonts, so it can't be caused by that. I even thought it was malware, so I ran a complete scan, restored my system to an earlier point and uninstalled and then reinstalled Chrome. In the end I have no idea what is causing it so now I'm stuck using Firefox since I gave up days ago. I doubted that I've been affected by a virus, but maybe I should have run a boot scan too. Hm... . Taking a better look at that screenshot, aren't your fonts different too? Here's two pictures, one of how it should look like and another of how it now looks for me when using Chrome.

You can import all the avatars you have obtained with the One-Click Import Tool. Just click on the link and follow the instructions. You might have to manually add some avatars since the tool do not recognize some symbols used in the avatar codes, but you will be informed of which avatars you'll have to add one by one. ;)

The best event I have ever got from the Random Events Machine is an Aboogala that I traded for 400k and recently my battle pet Leonirus' hit points were increased by 5. :D I always do that daily as long as I already have the items he asks for and/or the items aren't outrageously expensive. That crazy Lutari doesn't have the most entertaining daily, but it sure is worthwhile to try that machine of his, some prizes are great after all. :)

The clothes are SO rad. Maractite is also done really really well. A lot of people don't like biscuit colour in general but I think a lot of techo lovers will like this. It offers a softer base and will be very versatile for any character and customization they have in mind. Well done TNT!!

Hm, I could use a morphing potion on my Gnorbu, although the name wouldn't fit at all (Gnarubia, lol) ...or I could decide to not make that Shoyru I wanted in order to create a Techo instead... since I don't think I'll be able to give up on my dream of getting both a Draik and a Krawk. Arrgh... TNT, why do you do this to me?! :sad02: I won't put any of my pets in the pound just to get this one, darn it all...! /cry

Oh, I didn't know you're a CS major. xP Well, good thing you could find some nice premades with graphics that you like. ;) It must be really fun to know how to code; I've been thinking about starting on one of edX's CS courses. I once started on one but I didn't complete the course. I really should start on that CS50x course again, it was quite fun. :P

I'm using orgcss premades on all of my user lookups until I learn how to do my own, although I've edited the codes on my user lookups a bit so they better fitted what I wanted. ;) I think they're sleek and neat... and getting to use the Horde's faction icon from WoW as a link to their premades just add to the awesomeness. /haha

In case you don't like orgcss 5 pet lookups, then as Mouseykins well said you should be able to tweak pretty much any premade lookup so it may fit your 5 pets. It's actually pretty entertaining to tinker with the code until you discover what each thing do and don't do, ...at least I think it's pretty fun. :glasses:

Also, here you have listed links to different premade sites, but some of them seem to be outdated or no longer exist. :/

I think you just have to buy them, yes. But if otherwise we can always put them in the collector's case, get the bonus and then take them out, right? They're not like stamps, I believe? (like, un-removable)

I've checked my Collector's Case and indeed, you can remove the items you put there if you want to. Although with TNT's way of handling customer issues and bug reports I'm a bit hesitant about actually putting the dress in there. x''D I've heard about way too many people waiting for ages for them to respond to tickets... . It's ridiculous that all the items you ever owned, including the LE items are automatically displayed in your NC Mall Album but not in the Collector's Case. OK, I understand the logic that you can't have something in the case and in your closet at the same time, but still... this is Neopets, a magical world where real life logic doesn't fully apply so why apply it here? I truly doubt that there are many players that buys 2 of each LE item just to be able to let one of their pets use it while displaying the other one in their Collector's Case... .

I think they're worth it if you like the collection's theme. :) Also, regarding that ''all-new'' NC Collectibles Collector's Case, you're right, it's not new at all (apparently it's been around since August 2009) and on top of that it's utterly useless. A item that has been placed in the case cannot be used by your pets. So if you put an item in the case and then want to use it, you'll have to remove it from the case. :/ If you're still not sure about whether you should purchase the entire collection or not you could always look up the old collections here to see if you like them. ;)

Now that I'm at it, I just purchased the dress (first time I ever bought any of these Limited Edition NC items) and put it in my closet, but do I have to put it in my Collector's Case in order to receive the bonus item? As I understand it you'll receive the bonus if you simply purchase the entire collection with your own neocash, but still... I just want to make sure I'll not miss out on the bonus item for keeping it in my closet instead... .

I had stopped playing Habitarium during the summer cause I can't risk having my laptop quit on me in this suffocating summer heat, but reading these news now ...darn it all! Off I go to make some neopoints from it while I still can. I'm not glad that we're losing that game (even though I hated it and thought it was extremely boring and repetitive), but since I have a 7 year old account I make quite the profit from Food Club so I won't miss it all too much... . That being said, if I were playing with an account that's only a few months or years old I would be quite upset. I really hope that they release a new game that gives out a nice profit for everyone, regardless of their account age.

Even if we lose the Habiturium, I'm happy they finally seem to be getting near the end of the transition to JumpStart. It will be very interesting to see if they start to implement some of the features and site improvements suggested to them in that JumpStart survey. Time will tell. ;)

This customization is my own spin on Medusa's myth adapted to Neopets, I hope that's OK. ;)



Medusa the Hissi had never desired to hurt anyone, but little of that did the other Neopians knew since as soon as they looked at her they all turned into stone. She had been affected by an ancient curse while exploring the Deserted Tomb of Geraptiku and had ever since been waiting for someone to break her free. Time passed and rumour spread about a monster with hair consisting of Cobralls lived in the Temple, killing everyone who dared to enter it. Instead of valiant explorers, warriors wanting to test their might against her started coming to the tomb, everyone of them to never come out again. Medusa, saddened and tired about the situation, came to the conclusion that she would never be able to break free from the ancient curse... and thus decided to look herself in a mirror, to never have to harm another Neopian ever again.

Here are my first changes as Neopia's new ruler:

 

1. Main accounts and Side accounts are registered and joined. Once registered and joined, all Closets and SDBs can be accessed by each registered account. Also, registered Mains/Sides will have unlimited transfers of NC items (no boxes required) and Pets (that do not count against monthly pet transfers).

 

2. SDB's will be able to be sorted by custom, user created, folders. Myself, I would have Keep, Sell, Trade, Gift, Gallery, Advent Calendar, and Dailies as a few of my custom SDB folders.

 

3. I would prevent all items that are part of a Daily prize pool from re-stocking in Neopian Shops (for example, the Sand Bottles doled out by Tombola would no longer stock at the Tiki Tack). This would eliminate A LOT of the Shop clutter and would allow for more frequent restocks.

 

There are certainly other things I would do in quick order...but, for now, those are the first three things that come to mind. :D

Joining all of your accounts is something that truly needs to be done. I find it really annoying to not be able to send the wearables that I've purchased with real money from one of my accounts to another one of my own accounts without gift boxes, it's ridiculous! I've payed money for them, so I deserve to be able to shuffle around my wearables as much as I want to, the same applies to the deluxe paint brush wearables I play hard to win/purchase with neopoints. The third idea is also great; waiting for the shops to restock is really tiresome, especially when having to compete with autorestockers the few times they do restock. :( They really have to do something with all the cheaters, it ruins the game for everyone else.

I personally would do number 2 on your list. Being able to create custom folders to organize our SDB would be amazing. Better organization of our closet would be great as well.

 

2. I would put pin security on everything! This would include our neodecks, our food club winnings, and anything whatsoever that could be stolen. That being said, I would also add a computer challenger to KQ (I really wish they'd do away with it in the first place) so that you don't have to play against others unless you want to. At least with the computer, if your computer craps out or something happens, you don't have to worry about being harassed by NM or reported by report happy jerks before even trying to understand the story. I've had NF lose their long time accounts over something happening in KQ, and that truly irks me that somebody can lose years and years of hard work over something as stupid and trivial as KQ.

Key Quest 1-player matches, all of my yes! I've yet to try out Key Quest because of how easily it seems to be to get into trouble. I don't want more worries in my life; I play Neopets to relax and have fun, not to have some obnoxious player ruin my game experience.

Some sort of cool, throwback events open only to certain years - for example, 12 year old accounts get a special plot that pulls an element from the site 12 years ago, or accounts ages 7-15 have some sort of cool event/plot/prize available. It'd really just be a fun way to bring back some old elements of the site that some of the more experienced players miss.

 

(number three is a bit blah, but I honestly had some trouble thinking of something really good)

I really like the idea of letting us players experience the old plots; with my badly timed hiatuses from the site I've managed to miss every single plot, with exception of the last two events. :( The only thing I don't agree with is making it only accessible for accounts that are ''x'' years old, that wouldn't really be fair in my opinion. Why not give all the players, both current and new a chance to experience the old plots/events and of course get a chance at obtaining the retired items that only was obtainable to the players that were around back then (or that only the extremely rich Neopians can purchase right now)?

Well, well, all you guys have pretty much already said most of the things I would do, but here are a list of my top 3 priorities as Neopets' new Overlord!:

1. Account merging. Having to switch accounts is really bothersome, so if they still want us to use five accounts they have to merge the inventory, SDB and closet space and allow us to access our 5 galleries from all of our accounts... and also allow us to shuffle around our pets from one account to another as much as we want to (only between our own accounts, of course).

2. Expanded pet slots. Having more pets is the same as more pets to customize/train/zap which equals to more real money spent on Fortune Cookies and wearables and the like. They can make the expanded pet slots a feature you can purchase from the NC Mall and/or win through site plots (I actually suggested this to them in that JumpStart survey).

3. More site supervision and content developers. They shouldn't continue to allow all the cheaters to ramp around freely on the site like they do now and they should also hurry up to start fixing all the bugs and become better at moderating. You shouldn't ban a player from the site just because they lost their internet connection in the middle of a Key Quest match. I've seen a small staff moderating, updating, developing new features, fixing issues and even develop and managing to maintain an automatic anti-cheating sentinel for a game they started working on their free time!!! TNT gets paid and JumpStart have money, so why do they not improve the site having all those resources? I just don't get it... . Oh, the laziness! If the problem is simply that they lack resources and/or aren't paid enough or even lack enough staff members, then JumpStart should provide them with all the stuff they need to make Neopets the glorious site we players know it could be!

The new Angry Picnic Day jelly-like petpet is the Berry Jelly Blobikins and as Shelley already said, it's a lab only petpet colour so you will not be able to add it to your gallery. If you really want that petpet anyway, maybe you could make one of your pets the ''gallery manager'' by painting it Jelly and trying to get a normal Blobikins for it to zap? Will probably take you quite some time to get both the pet and the petpet painted Jelly and Picnic respectively, but hey, it might be worth a try! :P

If I were you I would repaint her, but of course, that's because one of my primarily goals here on Neopets is to get all of the species specific wearables for every single one of my pets... (it sure will take me a while to accomplish that lol).

What customization idea do you have in mind? Does she have a backstory that's supposed to match her current appearance? If not, then keep her the way she is if you have some other stuff you want to spend your neopoints on, like gallery items or whatnot. OK, so I now went to her lookup and read the poem you wrote about her (nice poem, btw). I think that the Island Peophin's markings and overall colour could be very suiting of a warrior, but one that might spend a lot of her time underwater might have it easier if she can blend in with the ocean by having that blue colour the Royalgirl Peophins have... . Hm... . Well, in the end it's up to you to choose what colour would be the most fitting for your Warrior Queen. ;)

Those petpets look so funny! I like them all; the Deviled Egg Goldy and the Rainy Day Ruining Your Picnic Cirrus are probably my favourite out of these, but they're all great. Hopefully my petpet lab rat gets zapped into one of those. :P

Oh, great - now I'm saving for the regular lab map AND the petpet lab map!! I just can't stand missing out on all the fun anymore! ;-;

The petpet lab map is really cheap, currently the complete set cost ca 6530np, so you should be able to get the neopoints needed to buy it in just a day. ;) Sadly, you need to have access to the regular lab ray first. :/ Hope you can join the fun soon! :)

I would keep them in the bank for the daily interest. If you want to prevent yourself from splurging you can always ban yourself from being able to withdraw neopoints from the bank. Withdraw 1 neopoint 15 times in a row and you'll no longer be able to access your savings until the next day. ;)

It can be quite hard to customize male neopets since there is a severe lack of masculine wearables, but it is possible to create some nice customizations regardless of that! (Also, note that you might have to trade for some, if not all of the baby wearables... .)
