  1. well, if your lutari being male does bother you and you have cash to burn, there is always the strange potion. not sure what other methods of gender swapping there are. thats a good idea, i wish id done that with my lab rays. instead theyre both on accounts that i plan to have six pets on! so once those pets are all done, the lab ray isnt going to get much use. which is fine, i guess, i mainly got it because i wanted to hand-zap my robots and alien aisha. although maybe in another 5 or so years well get a 7th pet slot?
  2. thaaaats the west coast! and yeah, gravy on nachos, and salsa on fries. its...uh, inventive, at least!
  3. today's zappy-dappys: movarios getting too swole for a wizard The ray is fired at Movario... ... and he gains 3 strength points!!!! The ray is fired at Jepire... ... and she loses 3 movement points!!!!
  4. holy crap i just saw the price of draik transmogrification potions. no wonder you wanted a ffq! and i thought 2.5m for the gelert potion was steep... do you have the lab ray? the easiest way to switch genders is to battle the lab ray scientist, he has a random chance of using a weapon that swaps a pets gender. the coord looks really good so far though!
  5. yeah its definitely not poutine without cheese curds. mind you im from the west coast, so we often get chunks of mozzarella instead... unless it's a place that specifically does poutine. those are the only places ive found that always put actual cheese curds on. i dont really mind the mozzarella though, because the only time i ever get poutine is at dive bars mind you, we also get like... weird poutine. poutine topped with eggs. curry poutine. salsa poutine. poutine but with nachos instead of fries. anyway i want to revise my first post, because i found the thing that plushie is based on, and... Jermite thats... so much worse. also here you go @jellysundae, one huggable christmas soot:
  6. good to know! i haven't played nq2 in years and congrats!
  7. a strata is a group that looks after condos (here, at least, people own their condo units, but the land that the condos are built upon is owned collectively by everyone in the building, and managed by a strata company, for which everyone pays a fee based on the sq meterage of their units). they're kind like landlords, i guess, although they mostly only care about the outside of the building and the building as a whole, not the individual units. so like, an electrical problem inside our unit is on me to fix, not them. but a problem with the streetlamps outside is handled by them. oh and a higher floor apartment is the dream! especially because past like the 8th floor or so, there's no flying insects, either! not sure i would want to lived about a bakery, though. at that point i would be more worried about rats than ants. we call the ground floor either the ground or the first, but the floor above that is always the second floor (so it either goes ground-second-third or first-second-third). but also like, i played a lot of runescape as a kid, so i was always getting them mixed up when i was younger, because that game was made by a uk company, and all the directions and signs went by ground-first-second. oh boy, that's not great. problems like that are so much easier to fix when they're small!
  8. each game (and difficulty progression) is tied to your pet. if you switch to a different active pet then you have to start a new game with that pet (and you can only start evil/insane runs with pets who have played the prereqs). swap back to the pet that you played your original game with and the game should be where you left it. you can also have a game running on each pet, if that's your idea of a good time.
  9. ooo, adding Gideon to my to-read list! yeah, i loved the potter series, but... i dunno. i think i'm just going to keep it as a fond memory and let it go. currently (re-)reading: stephen king's dark tower series. i read the first four books back in high school but cant actually remember anything about it. so far i'm liking it, more for the writing than the story. it's a lot more meandering than his other novels. idk if im going to have the drive to make it all the way to the end, though. might pause after i finish the first and come back to it. ill pick some lesser-known books to recommend, have six of varying genre: The Snow Spider Trilogy by Jenny Nimmo: urban fantasy - a boy inherits magical powers from his welsh ancestors. im a little rusty on welsh mythology...ive only ever read the mabinogion and that was years ago, so i cant speak to the accuracy of what's mentioned in the book, but i enjoyed it! it does a cool thing where each part of the trilogy has a different pov character, but a continuous story. Nina's story (part 2) was definitely my favourite, mostly because i first read it when i was about the same age and going through some of the same things as her. Fingersmith by Sarah Waters: romance/crime thriller - i was hesitant to pick this one up, because i had just finished Tipping the Velvet which i thought was just alright. im glad i did though. a poor orphan and a swindler team up to con a wealthy heiress out of her fortune, posing as a teacher and her maid respectively. the orphan is meant to be there to encourage the heiress into forming a relationship with the swindler, but oops, they fall in love with each other instead. fairly standard romance, you might think. well, that's just act one. it has a very good movie adaption (renamed The Handmaiden) which swaps the victorian london setting out for pre-ww2 korea. The Man Who Fell To Earth by Walter Tevis: science fiction - cool story about an alien who comes to earth looking for a way to solve his planet's drought problem. it was written in the 60s so you can imagine how that turned out. there's a film adaptation starring david bowie, which is just okay. Kamikaze Girls by Novala Takemoto: slice-of-life/drama - a story about two japanese high school girls from wildly different subcultures (yanki gangs and lolita fashion). it's a good story, just dont go into it expecting the main characters to be in any way sympathetic. interesting, definitely. but not likeable. but despite being kind of insufferable individually, when they interact with each other it's really, really good, and im a sucker for opposites-attract friendships. the pov character does tend to drone on and on when she starts talking about clothes, but lolitas are just Like That, so I didn't mind, ymmv though. it also had a movie, which was pretty good! The Valhalla Trilogy by Ari Bach: science fiction - a futuristic gorefest set a couple hundred years into the future, where governments have been replaced by corporations. not a downer dystopia, though, it's initially a revenge story about a secretive spy organization and taking down a gang. the setting is mostly a backdrop to the cool technology, action and violence. and hoo boy is it violent! literally nothing is off limits, check out the warnings if you decide to give this one a try because every time you think 'ok surely it can't get any worse', it does. the actually prose is hit or miss--apparently it was originally a film script, and it shows, although there are also some very good sections. but the story was wild enough that i didn't mind. Eighty-Sixed by David B. Feinberg: general - a (partly autobiographical) story about a gay man living through the AIDs crisis, told in two parts. part one takes place in 1976, and is a hilarious romp. you'll definitely laugh. part two takes place in 1986 and is a punch in the gut. you'll definitely cry.
  10. seconding this, my dad was a landscaper and had a bunch of tiny tumours (basal cells iirc) because he was an old fashioned guy and didn't want to bother with sunscreen. he was lucky that they were benign, but still. i usually just default to a hat for short trips outside but anything over 15 minutes gets the old spf 60. i usually wind up with major sunburn (warm face for days, peeling, the whole shebang) the first beach trip of the year anyway, even with a timer to reapply every 2 hours. dont want to think about what it would be like without sunscreen, oof. otherwise my skincare routine is every couple days i remember to wash my face
  11. So a couple weeks ago, our strata decided to spray around the outside of our complex for ants. No one I know has had any complaints about ants, but okay. They're being proactive. Cool. So pest control came around and did the spraying. Sure enough, the ants left... ...and went straight into our apartment! Now I've got a couple hundred ants milling around my bathroom sink. Right around swarming season. Cool. Thanks, strata. I mean, I used to live in a basement, where ants are just kind of a package deal, but are also kind of exactly the reason why I stopped living in a basement. I'm mostly just annoyed that strata decided to try and solve a problem that didn't exist, and in doing so, created that very problem. Anyway, already sprayed some raid to keep them at bay and emailed them about it so we'll see what happens. I just want this to be over with before they swarm. That's a mess I don't want to clean up. Just wanted to vent. Go ahead and share your landlord/strata/etc horror grievances.
  12. today's zapperonis: The ray is fired at Movario... ... and he doesn't change at all The ray is fired at Jepire... ... and she gains two levels!!!
  13. congrats! what colour draik are you going to get?
  14. that looks like a werhond, though i dont think ive ever see that colour! theyre so cute, though. my little grey kyrii girl has one as a petpet! today's zaps: The ray is fired at Movario... ... and he gains 5 maximum hit points!!!! The ray is fired at Jepire... ... and she gains 3 movement points!!!! edit: the next day's zaps: The ray is fired at Movario... ... and he gains 3 maximum hit points!!!! The ray is fired at Jepire... ... and she gains 2 maximum hit points!!!!
  15. no worries. ill probably go start lurking on the nc board, thats a good way to pick up knowledge. ooo, thats a cool story! no wonder he looks so angry.
  16. oh, that is cool!! do they have a story at all? are they a wizard? they look like a wizard! thanks for the tips! im probably going to wait until i win some nc from the expellibox and get a box capsule or two? the guide i was reading earlier seemed to suggest that those were in high demand. there's really only three items that i desperately want: Armin Collectors Contacts (for my future rg kyrii, because the natural violet eyes look..so weird), Spyder Web Cave Background and Beneath the Crypt Background. i looked up the contacts and they're listed at 8-10 caps, so im probably going to have to empty my entire stock of nc items for them haha. itll be worth it though, they make the rg kyrii look so lovely! (https://impress.openneo.net/outfits/2131121 is the coord i plan to do) the two backgrounds are listed at 1-2 caps, so i think ill probably try and get the contacts first while i have the most variety of items to trade, then go for the background with whatever's left? i have a paper lanterns item valued at 4-5, and a little over a dozen 1-2 value items. i think it might be enough, it just might take a while. so funnily enough, i literally just added backgrounds to all my pets like......2 hours ago? id never actually touched customization before now. so its all kind of new territory for me! i meant to wait until all my pets were actually painted to delve into backgrounds, buuuuuut i started messing around on openneo and one thing led to another. then before i knew it i had dropped a crisp million on backgrounds. local curmedgeon joins the 21st century a decade later than everyone else, lol.
  17. congratulations! that is a really cool looking item. which mutant pet are you going for? and its comforting to hear that everyone was so nice! im going to have to venture forth into the nc board at some point, because there are three or four nc items that i want. and i cant understand half of whats written on most people's openneo wishlists.
  18. yeah, retired items tend to be either dirt cheap or super expensive, there's rarely any in-between. that is a great gallery idea! and if you're open to adding the reverse (items in the books category that aren't actually books), i did see Sophies Leave Me Alone Notice while i was looking for names earlier today.
  19. today's zappos: The ray is fired at Movario... ... and he gains 2 strength points!!!! The ray is fired at Jepire... ... and she loses 3 defence points!!!! edit: Double post time The ray is fired at Movario... ... and he doesn't change at all The ray is fired at Jepire... ... and she gains 4 maximum hit points!!!!
  20. yeah, the base is what turns me off of the relic colour entirely. it would have been cool if they had made the bases a removable customization item. barnacles, too!
  21. i just checked the price of yooyus, and yeah, oof, that's going to be expensive. not that some plushies cant get pretty pricy, though, but there's enough cheap ones that its easy to fill out a sizable gallery for a few k's. .....what? please post a link when you do get it made, that sounds like a very cool gallery!
  22. ooo some nice zaps today! *crosses fingers* today's zaps: The ray is fired at Movario... ... and he gains 3 defence points!!!! The ray is fired at Jepire... ... and she loses 3 defence points!!!! ......................... incredible.
  23. oh, thats a great idea for a gallery! i mean its basically the neopian equvilant of sport memorabilia, right? what else are you planning to add?
  24. today was a good day at the battledome. ive started fighting walein until i run low on hp then switching back to the kreludan defender. i really need to start looking into respeccing my set so i can actually last longer at walein.
